This study was to observe the tendency of pulse diagnosis in atopic dermatitis patients as measured by pulse diagnostic apparatus. Methods : We did pulse diagnostic test about 11 new outpatients who had visited the department of ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dermatology in Kyunghee oriental medical center from March 1, 2007 to October 31, 2007 and had atopic dermatitis. Results : The results were as follows. 1. Among the 11 outpatients, the total number of male patients were 5 and female patients were 6, and the age distribution, the most frequently visited age groups were 10-19 years old and 20-29 years old(each 4 patients). 2. The most common period of onset to first examination were 3 years${\leq}$ (7 patients). 3. There were 8 patients who had emphasized T-wave. 4. There were 7 patients who had repeated pulse wave pattern. Conclusion : In 11 cases who had atopic dermatitis, 8 patients had emphasized T-wave and 7 patients had repeated pulse wave pattern.

  • In this paper, a new CMOS fully integrated frequency-to-digital converter is proposed. The operation of the proposed circuit is based on a pulse-shrinking delay element. In the proposed circuit, a resolution of the converted digital output can be easily improved by increasing the number of the pulse-shrinking element. Also the input frequency range can be easily changed through controlling bias voltage in the pulse-shrinking element. The simulation of the designed circuit carried out by HSPICE using the CMOS 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ process technology.

  • The luminance of at PDP has been controlled by the number of sustain pulses. Therefore, it is very difficult to control the luminance by sustain pulses for a given gray level. This paper deals with a new method to control the luminance by the sustain pulse amplitude in ac PDP. The suggested method can control the luminance by 60% without change of the number of sustain pulses.

  • When drilling using electrical-discharge machining (EDM), severe electrode wear makes in-process measurements of the depth of the drilled hole and the volume of material removed impossible. To estimate the volume of material removed a reliable real-time discharge pulse counting method is proposed by assuming that the volume removed in EDM is proportional to the number of discharge pulses from an iso-energy pulse generator. The geometry of machined holes, including depths and cross-sectional profiles, is estimated using geometric analysis. A proportional relationship between the volume of material removed and the number of discharge pulses was developed and verified by experiments.

  • This paper proposes a novel control method for a multi-output switched-resonant converter. Output voltage can be regulated against variations in the supply voltage and load by controlling the voltage of the resonant capacitor (pulse amplitude control). Precise control is possible when pulse amplitude control is combined with pulse number control. The converter is analyzed, and design considerations are explained by using examples. Control implementation is described and load regulation and ripples are analyzed by simulation and hardware results. The topology is modified to obtain an additional negative output without any additional hardware other than a diode. The analysis of such a triple output converter with two positive outputs and one negative output is conducted and confirmed. The topology and control scheme are scalable to any number of outputs.

  • A CMOS TDC(time-to-digital converter) is proposed which has a simple cyclic structure. The proposed TDC consists of pulse-shrinking elements, D latches and D flip-flops. The operation is based on pulse-shrinking of the input pulse. The resolution of digital output can be easily improved by increasing the number of the pulse-shrinking elements, D latches and D flip flops. The TDC performance is improved in viewpoints of power consumption and chip area. Simulation results are shown to illustrate the performance of the proposed TDC circuit.

  • This paper presents a method to suppress multipath induced by pulses using supervised learning. In modern electronics, pulses have been used for various purposes such as communication or distance measurements. Like other signals, pulses also suffer from multipath. When a pulse and a multipath are overlapped, the original pulse shape is distorted. The distorted pulse could result in communication failures or distance measurement errors. However, a large number of samples available from a pulse can be used to effectively reject multipath by using a supervised learning method. This paper introduces how a supervised learning method can be applied to Distance Measuring Equipment. Simulation results show that multipath induced distance measuring error can be suppressed by 10 ~ 45 percent depending on the allowed pulse shape variation allowed in a standard.

  • With the recent development of the ultrahigh-speed optical time division multiplexed system, high-repetition rate optical-pulse stream generation is necessary. This is different from conventional approaches, which use fiber or integrated waveguide delay line circuits. The high-repetition-rate optical-pulse multiplication phenomenon occurs when the optical pulse's spectral width is greater than the transfer bandwidth of the coupler used. From the analysis, the output repetition rate can be controlled by using fiber couplers with different equivalent transfer bandwidths. The pulse seperation spacing is controlled by number of cascaded coupler in optical loop mirror coupler scheme.

  • The two-dimensional finite difference time domain algorithm is used to numerically reconstruct the electron density profile in O-mode ultrashort pulse reflectometry. A Gaussian pulse is employed as the source of a probing electromagnetic wave. The Gaussian pulse duration is chosen in such a manner as to have its frequency spectrum cover the whole range of the plasma frequency. By using a number of numerical band-pass filters, it is possible to compute the time delays of the frequency components of the reflected signal from the plasma. The electron density profile is reconstructed by substituting the time delays into the Abel integral equation. As a result of simulation, the reconstructed electron density profile agrees well with the assumed profile.

  • Internal voids in insulators give rise to partial discharge, which causes a local breakdown and even entire insulation breakdown. Recently, the necessity of establishing the way to diagnose the aging of insulation materials and to predict of insulation breakdown become important. The purpose of our work are to investigate the treeing phenomena with an artificial needle shaped void by the charge of discharge and acoustic emission pulse in each phase angle area at the same time. We analyzed the .PHI.-QA-t pattern and .PHI.-AEA-t pattern using statistic operators such as pulse magnitude, pulse number, skewness, kurtosis. Therefore, the relation between the charge of discharge and acoustic emission pulse will be helpful to predict the breakdown just before the breakdown occur.
