In this study, the piezoelectric ceramics/polymer composite transducers with 1-3 connectivity have been studied. A piezoelectric ceramics PZT prepared by Wet-Dry Combination method was used as a filler in polymer matrix Eccogel. We've got the pulse-echo response for 1-3 type piezc-electric composite transducers in water. It was shown that the transmitting and receiving sensitivity of 1-3 type piezoelectric composite transducers could be improved in comparison with that- of solid PZT transducers. The reason is for that 1-3 type Piezoelectric composites have low dielectric constant and density. There was in a good agreement between the resonant frequencies calculated from one period and observed results on the Ultrasonic Transducer Analyzer. According to these results we could be figured out the distance in water by virture of the pulse-echo response.

A scheme is proposed for measuring similarities between the binary pulse signals in the pulse-code modulation using the Integra-Normalizer. The Integra-Normalizer provides a better interpretation of the relationship between the pulse signals by removing redundant codes, which maps all possible observed signals to one of the codes to be received with relative similarities between each pair of compared signals. The proposed method provides better error tolerance than L2 metric, such as Hamming distance, since the distances between pulse signals are measured not useful for the time-delay detection in the pulse-code modulation.

A high voltage pulse generator was fabricated to radiate ultrawide band electromagnetic pulse. A coaxial type of Blumlein pulse forming line is employed to produce a pulse of high voltage (>300 kV) and short pulse duration (~5 ns). A helical strip/wire type of air-cored pulse transformer was used to charge the Blumlein pulse forming line up to more than 300 kV. A peaking switch is essential to make the pulse rise time as fast as possible. Typically, the rise time is ~500 ps. The output pulse of the generator is radiated into air through an exponentially tapered TEM horn antenna. The electric field intensity of a radiated pulse was measured as a function of the distance from the transmitting horn as well as the output voltage of the peaking switch. The peak-to-peak value of the electric field intensity at 10 m from the TEM antenna was~100 kV/m.

Laser induced surface hardening of Tool steel(STC5) can be achieved either with or without surface melting. In trans-formation hardening as the surface is heated to a temperature below its melting point and is rapidly cooled solidified microstructures are usually much finer and stronger than those of the base matals. For this reason surface modification of tool steel by YAG laser irradiation has been studied as a function of processing parameters such as power density pulse width defocusing distance and molten depth. The high energy density changes and refines the microstructure of the near surface layer. In the case of beam passes martensite formed in the melt zone exhibited very high vickers hardness values. Molten depth and width depend on defocusing distance and energy of black color painting is more absorptive than other color painting.

Technological feasibility of using recently-available femtosecond ultra short pulse lasers for advanced precision length metrology is investigated with emphasis on absolute distance measurements with $10{\mu}m$ ??resolution over extensive ranges. The idea of using femtosecond lasers for the measurement of absolute distances is based on the fact that a short pulse train is a mode-locked combination of discrete monochromatic light components spanning a wide spectral bandwidth. The synthetic wavelength is created from the repetition frequency, $f_r$ of the femtosecond laser and for more precise resolution, higher-order harmonics of the repetition frequency may be selected as the synthetic wavelength by using appropriate electronic filters.

This study was done to identify correlates of carotid artery ultrasonography's measurement and Inyoung pulse in college students. We measured the amplitude of Inyoung pulse, Chongu pulse, ratio of Inyoung to Chongu and ratio of Chongu to Inyoung on 30 college students. Also, We measured the Distance, Diameter), RI(resistivity index), S/D(systolic, diastolic ratio), PI(pulsatility index), PSV(peak systolic velocity), EDV(End diastolic velocity), Vmean using carotid artery ultrasonography. The data was analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient using SAS program. The results were as follow. Results showed a positive correlation between Inyoung pulse and diameter by carotid artery. It showed a positive correlation between Inyoung pulse and S/D. Also, It showed a positive correlation between Inyoung pulse and PSV. As a result, the strength of Inyoung pulse related with the diameter of carotid artery and blood flow velocity.

The new empirical static model was constructed on the basis of dimension analysis to predict the pressure drop according to the operating conditions. The empirical static model consists of the initial pressure drop term (${\Delta}P_{initial}$) and the dust mass number term($N_{dust}=\frac{{\omega}_0{\nu}_f}{P_{pulse}t}$), and two parameters (dust deposit resistance and exponent of dust mass number) have been estimated from experimental data. The optimum injection distance was identified in the 64 experimental data at the fixed filtration velocity and pulse pressure. The dust deposit resistance ($K_d$), one of the empirical static model parameters got the minimum value at d=0.11m, at which the total pressure drop was minimized. The exponent of dust mass number was interpreted as the elasticity of pressure drop to the dust mass number. The elasticity of the unimodal behavior had also a maximum value at d=0.11m, at which the pressure drop increased most rapidly with the dust mass number. Additionally, the correlation coefficient for the new empirical static model was 0.914.

The pulse-echo response of the piezoceramics PZT-polymer 3-3 type composite transducers with various PVA additions were investigated. The PZT powder was prepared by the molten salt synthesis method. The porous PZT specimens will be used as a filler to make 3-3 type comosite were prepared from a mixture of PZT and polyvinylalcohol(PVA) sphere by utilizing BURPS(Bumout Plastic Sphere) technique. It was shown that the transmitting and receiving sensitivity of 3-3 type piezoelectric composite transducers could be improved than that of solid PZT transducers. The reason is that 3-3 type piezoelectric composite have low dielectric constant, density and acoustic impedance. The distance between transducer and reflector was in good agreement with the distance calculated from the longitudinal velocity of the specimens and receiving time observed pulse-echo responses on the ultrasonic transducer analyzer.
