This paper proposes a new touch screen sensing method that improves the drawback of conventional single-line sensing methods for mutual capacitance touch screen panels (TSPs). It introduces a dual sensing and voltage shifting method, which reduces the ambient noise effectively and enhances the touch signal strength. The dual sensing scheme reduces the detection time by doubling the integration speed using both edges of excitation pulse signals. The voltage shifting method enhances the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by increasing the voltage range of integrations, and maximizing the ADC's input dynamic range. Simulation and experimental results using a commercial 23" large touch screen show an SNR performance of 43dB and a scan rate 2 times faster than conventional schemes - key properties suited for a large touch screen panels. We implemented the proposed method into a TSP controller chip using Magnachip's CMOS 0.18um process.

Recently, researches related to automative mechanism have been widely studied to increase the driver's safety by continuously monitoring the driver's health condition to prevent driver's drowsiness. This paper describes the design of wearable chest belt for ECG and reflectance pulse oximetry for $SpO_2$ sensors based on wireless sensor network to monitor the driver's healthcare status. ECG, $SpO_2$ and heart rate signals can be transmitted via wireless sensor node to base station connected to the server. Intelligent monitoring system is designed at the server to analyze the $SpO_2$ and ECG signals. HRV(Heart Rate Variability) signals can be obtained by processing the ECG and PPG signals. HRV signals are further analyzed based on time and frequency domain to determine the driver's drowsiness status.

Wave drag reduction due to the repetitive laser induced energy deposition over a flat-nosed cylinder is experimentally conducted in this study. Irradiated laser pulses are focused by a convex lens installed in side of the in-draft wind tunnel of Mach 1.94. The maximum frequency of the energy deposition is limited up to 80. Time-averaged drag force is measured using a low friction piston which was backed by a load cell in a cavity as a controlled pressure. Stagnation pressure history, which is measured at the nose of the model, is synchronized with corresponding sequential schlieren images. With cylinder model, amount of drag reduction is linearly increased with input laser power. The power gain only depends upon the pulse energy. A drag reduction about 21% which corresponds to power gain of energy deposition of approximately 10 was obtained.

We have experimentally demonstrated sum-frequency generation (SFG) in a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystal, using a mode-locked picosecond-pulsed fiber laser and a continuous-wave (CW) diode laser with a narrow linewidth. The mode-locked fiber laser had a center wavelength of 1560.7 nm and a spectral width of 1.1 nm, and the CW diode laser had a center wavelength of 1551.0 nm and a spectral width of 6 MHz. To effectively realize SFG, both of the spatial modes of the two lasers were made to overlap in the PPLN crystal by using a single-mode optical fiber. The pulse-mode SFG with pulsed- and CW-mode lasers was successfully observed in the spectral and time domains. These results are expected to be applicable in various ways, such as optical frequency measurement and high-resolution laser spectroscopy studies using optical frequency combs.

A linear frequency modulated pulse train waveform can be cost-effective in achieving high range resolution, and thus the synthetic aperture radar may be benefited by using the mixer output of the received signal. However, the image formation process from a mixer output is vulnerable to errors caused by stop-and-go approximation. In this paper, a nadir-looking imaging radar based on time domain correlation is proposed. Furthermore, to prevent the occurrence of ghosting effect in images, antenna placement on a rotating disk is proposed. Simulation results indicate that ghosting effect can be eliminated by employing the proposed antenna placement structure.
We developed a one-dimensional Ar fluid model running in DC-type applied voltage with a sine and a pulse waveform at the atmosphere pressure. We investigated the light emissions and efficiencies of ${\lambda}_{128nm}$, ${\lambda}_{727nm}$, ${\lambda}_{912nm}$ and ${\lambda}_{966nm}$ from the Ar excited particles. From the results, the light emission of ${\lambda}_{128nm}$ and ${\lambda}_{727nm}$ in the applied voltage with a sine waveform were almost two times as in DC voltage type. The shorter the switching time of applied voltage was, the more the light emissions of ${\lambda}_{128nm}$ and ${\lambda}_{727nm}$ were. We discussed the power consumption and Joule heating by charged particles.
To protect the patient's internal organs when a patient with cardiovascular disease occurs, it is important to reduce the elapsed time by providing emergency medical services. Decisions for conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation are mainly made using the carotid palpation method, which directs the pulse of the carotid artery, which can diagnose the patient's condition according to one's own subject and cause cerebral blood flow to be blocked by excessive pressure in the carotid due to the weaken cardiopulmonary function. In this study, we developed a multimodal patch-type probe based on multi-channel ultrasound Doppler pairs and oxygen saturation measurement modules which can monitor cardiopulmonary functions. From the in-vivo experiments, the developed probe can be utilized as a novel tool that can increase the survival rate of cardiovascular disease patients by objectively monitoring the cardiopulmonary function of the patient quantitatively and promptly in an emergency situation.
The purpose of this study is to present an effective methodology that can measure heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, respiration rate, mental stress level, and blood pressure using mobile front camera that can be accessed most in real life. Face recognition was performed in real-time using Blaze Face to acquire facial image data, and the forehead was designated as ROI (Region Of Interest) using feature points of the eyes, nose, and mouth, and ears. Representative values for each channel of the ROI were generated and aligned on the time axis to measure vital signs. The vital signs measurement method was based on Fourier transform, and noise was removed and filtered according to the desired vital signs to increase the accuracy of the measurement. To verify the results, vital signs measured using facial image data were compared with pulse oximeter contact sensor, and TI non-contact sensor. As a result of this work, the possibility of extracting a total of six vital signs (heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, stress, and blood pressure) was confirmed through facial images.

The Wiener-type nonlinear model where a static nonlinear block follows a dynamic linear block is widely used to describe the dynamics of chemical processes. A long process excitation step is typically needed to identify this Wiener-type nonlinear model with two blocks. In order to cope with this disadvantage, an identification method for the Wiener-type nonlinear model that uses only a single-step response is proposed here. The proposed method estimates the response of the dynamic linear sub-block from the initial part of the step response, and then the static nonlinear sub-block is identified. Because the only single-step response is used to identify the Wiener-type nonlinear model, there is great benefit in time and cost for obtaining process response. The performance of the proposed identification method with the single-step response is verified through a representative Wiener-type nonlinear process, a pH titration process, and a liquid level system.
Middle-aged women experience a lot of physical and mental stress during their developmental cycle. This stress reduces the quality of life because it leads to chronic pain and disease. Forest therapy is attracting attention as an alternative to this. Forest therapy refers to improving human health through the therapeutic elements of forests. Accordingly, this study was conducted to determine whether a sensory insight-based forest therapy program was effective in reducing stress in middle-aged women. For this purpose, middle-aged women who wanted to participate in the forest therapy program were recruited, 20 each were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, and pre- and post-tests were conducted. The forest therapy program consisted of 8 sessions of 6 hours based on sense and insight. The forest therapy program was held at Saryeoni Forest in Jeju, and the measurement tools were compared by measuring perceived stress, leisure satisfaction, and stress index through pulse wave testing. The results of the study showed that the forest therapy program lowered stress and improved leisure satisfaction.
