This study investigates the response of a typhoon model to the change of the sea surface temperature (SST) throughout the model integration. The SST change is parameterized as a formulae of which the magnitude is given as a function of not only the intensity and the size but the moving speed of tropical cyclone. The formulae is constructed by referring to many previous observational and numerical studies on the SST cooling with the passage of tropical cyclones. Since the parameterized cooling formulae is based on the mathematical expression, the resemblance between the prescribed SST cooling and the observed one during the period of the numerical experiment is not complete nor satisfactory. The agreements between the prescribed and the observed SST even over the swath of the typhoon passage differ from case to case. Numerical experiments are undertaken with and without prescribing the SST cooling. The results with the SST cooling do not show clear evidence in improving the track prediction compared to those of the without-experiments. SST cooling in the model shows its swath along the incomplete simulated track so that the magnitude and the distribution of the sea surface cooling does not resemble completely with the observed one. However, we have observed a little improvement in the intensity prediction in terms of the central pressure of the tropical cyclone in some cases. In case where the model without the SST treatment is not able to yield a correct prediction of the filling of the tropical cyclone especially in the decaying stage, the pulling effect given by the SST cooling alleviates the over-deepening of the model so that the central pressure approaches toward the observed value. However, the opposite case when the SST treatment makes the prediction worse may also be possible. In general when the sea surface temperature is reduced, the amount of the sensible and the latent heat from the ocean surface become also reduced, which results in the weakening of the storms comparing to the constant SST case. It turns out to be the case also in our experiments. The weakening is realized in the central pressure, maximum wind, horizontal temperature gradient, etc.

We has made 2-zone vertical electric furnace and has been grown CdS single crystal by sublimation method in crystal growth tube with tail tube without seed crystal for growth. While it has been growing, temperature difference ${\Delta}T$ of source and growth part has nearly agreed with theoritical value $14.7^{\circ}C$and experimental value $15^{\circ}C$ Then, crystal of best quality has been grown, when temperature of tail tube has been $110^{\circ}C$, in spite of quickly pulling up crystal growth tube a degree O.38mm per hour. The grown crystal have had hexagonal structure and single crystal with c-axis to length of crystal growth tube from X- ray diffraction pattern of powder method and Laue pattern of back reflection Laue method. Also, the mobility and carrier density from Hall effect measurement have been $316cm^2/V{\cdot}sec$ and $2.90{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}$ at the room temperature, respectively.
Purpose: The authors have conducted a series of anatomic studies on the factors affecting shape of a lower vault in Asian noses. The results of the studies showed that prominence of alar lobule is mainly affected by the volumes of the dilator naris anterior and posterior muscles and the insertions of the dilator naris posterior muscles. However, information on its clinical availability is yet insufficient. The present study was undertaken for clinical purpose to find out the effect of dilator naris muscle resection on the correction of prominent alar lobule. Methods: Six patients who were treated by dilator naris muscle resection with a long-term follow-up of more than 1 year were involved in this study. Rhinoplasties were performed via endonasal approaches with resecting dilator naris anterior and posterior muscles by sharp scissor. The effect of the dilator naris muscle resection on alar prominence was investigated by measuring ratio of the short axis to the long axis of a nostril (SA/LA) pre-and postoperatively. The visual analog scale (VAS) was also used to evaluate satisfaction of patients. An average follow-up time was $15.6{\pm}3.7$ months. Results: Having lost the dilating and lateral pulling effects of the dilator naris muscles, the alar lobule shifted medially and alar lobule shapes improved. SA/LA significantly improved (preoperatively $0.71{\pm}0.11$ and postoperatively $0.58{\pm}0.08$; $p$ <0.05). The VAS score was also increased postoperatively (preoperatively $3.2{\pm}1.8$ and postoperatively $8.7{\pm}1.2$; $p$ <0.05). A mild degree of hyperpigmented scar was noted in one alar lobule. Otherwise, there was no case of postoperative complication. Conclusion: Our results suggest that prominent alar lobule could be modified by resecting the attachment of the dilator naris muscles. This maneuver removes the function of dilator naris muscles, then may produce a more aesthetically acceptable alar lobule shape.

The study aimed to develop a tractor drawn animal slurry manure sub-soil injector for arable land and thus, can reduce the waste management cost through effective treatment and utilization of animal slurry manure. The application of animal slurry manure to agricultural land will probably be one of the most effective ways to enrich the soil with vital nutrients. However, some existing slurry manure spenders are not suitable in the field because of their adverse effects to the environment. Based on this premise, a prototype was designed and assembled using 5 sub-soiling standards attached to the sin injector device. The traction force of the Prototype measured in the depth of 10 cm and 15 cm from the ground surface of a paddy field was 1,062 kgf and 1,214 kgf, respectively. A unique feature of the machine was that there was an equal volume of slurry manure flowing from each delivery pipe and regulated by a pressurized container that was likewise synchronized with the speed of the tractor The sub-soiling manure injection system can mitigate or reduce the harmful emission of obnoxious gases and malodor during the injection operation.
In this study, the pull-out resistance behavior of the anchor with the bump type resistors at the anchor body was experimentally investigated. In the model tests, the pull-out resistance was measured by pulling out the anchor at a constant speed. Anchor body was installed in the center of the circular sand tank. Pull-out tests were conducted for 10 conditions. The anchor type (existence of the resistor), the friction conditions of the anchor body surface ($1/3{\phi}$, $2/3{\phi}$, ${\phi}$), the bump type resistor set number (1set, 2set, 4set), and the height of resistors (0.05d, 0.10d, 0.20d) were varied. The load-displacement relationship for each conditions was measured during the pull-out tests at a constant speed (1 mm/min). Maximum pull-out length was 80 mm. As a result, the pull-out behavior of the friction type anchor and the expansion type anchor was different. As the number of resistor increased, the maximum pull-out resistance increased and the residual pull-out resistance ratio increased significantly, which were at 171~591 percent larger than that of the friction type anchor.

This paper deals with the braking dynamic behavior of diesel electric locomotive pulling domestic cargo and passenger vehicles. Friction coefficient, pneumatic pressure, and running resistance affecting the braking system were tested. For the friction coefficient, the Dynamo test was performed with reference to UIC 541-4. The results are analyzed by multivariate regression and the relationship between braking force and ititial velocity is presented. The pneumatic pressure were classified into service braking and emergency braking. In order to reflect the characteristics of the brake valve and piping, the pressure rising over time was measured in the vehicle. In order to reflect the external force acting on the vehicle, we carried out the test of EN 14067-4 and presented the second order polynomial formula on a running resistance. The running resistance test results were compared with other countries. The dynamic behavior of a diesel electric locomotive running on a straight flat track based on vehicle resources, friction coefficient, braking pressure, and running resistance is simulated using the time integration presented in EN 14531-1. The simulation results were compared and verified with the vehicle braking test results. The results of this study can be used to analyze the dynamic braking behavior of a train. Also, it is expected that various parameters affecting braking in vehicle design can be analyzed and used as basic data for braking performance improvement.

Active muffler is implemented by applying active noise control technique to reduce exhaust noise of automobile muffler. Conventional Filtered_x LMS algorithm has a problem that the degree of control filter becomes very large and convergence deteriorates when acoustic feedback is present. The recursive LMS algorithm can compensate for this problem because it can be easily diverted in the adaptive filter adaptation process. In this paper, the structure of the primary path and the secondary path transfer function is designed as the IIR filter to improve the convergence performance and the computational burden, and the stabilization filter algorithm is applied to secure stability which is a disadvantage of the IIR filter structure. The stabilization filter algorithm plays a role of pulling the pole into the unit circle to prevent the pole of the transfer function corresponding to the acoustic feedback from diverging during the adaptation process. In this way, the computational burden of the active muffler system and the convergence performance can be improved. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed system, we compared the performance of the proposed Filtered_x LMS algorithm with the performance of the proposed system for the exhaust sound of a diesel engine, which is a variable environment. Compared to conventional algorithm, proposed algorithm's computational burden is less than half, and convergence performances are more than 4 times.

Various types of robotic arms are being used for industrial purposes, particularly with the small production of multi-products, and the importance of the gripper, which can be used in industrial fields, is increasing. This study evaluated a variable stiffness mechanism gripper that can change the stiffness using the nonlinearity of a flexible material. A prototype of the gripper was fabricated and examined to confirm the change in stiffness. The previous gripper was unable to grip objects in some situations with three variable stiffness mechanism. In addition, these mechanisms were not balanced and rarely rotated when the object was gripped. Therefore, a new type of gripper was needed to solve this problem. Inspired by the movements of the human palm and Venus Flytrap, a new type of a variable stiffness soft robot hand was designed. The possibility of grasping could be increased by interlocking the palm folding mechanism by pulling the tendon attached to the variable stiffness mechanism. The soft robotic hand was used to grasp objects of various shapes and weights more stably than the previous variable stiffness mechanism gripper. This new variable stiffness soft robot hand can be used selectively depending on the application and environment to be used.

This research aims at analyzing the changes in residential environment after a residential environment improvement project focusing on the analysis into the physical environment of a residential environment improvement project, and examining in what direction the changes by residents' own efforts occurred after public support, such as infrastructure. The present residence development method has become different from the previous pulling down method and is focused on regeneration. By examining in what direction the target residence is being changed because of the development by residents' own efforts after the government's public investment at this time, this study also aims at investigating the direction to develop a guideline for residential improvement for later improvement of deteriorated residence. As for the contents of the analysis, changes in public support, such as infrastructure, and other areas after the residential environment improvement project were compared and analyzed from the land use, street system, and condition of buildings before the residential environment improvement project through field survey, geographic information system(GIS), registered land and building data and so on. The biggest change since the support from the government was that at the beginning of the project, the application of special provision of building laws and different financial supports led to lots of newly built buildings. Since then, their number has decreased rapidly, and in most cases, there have been some changes in part, such as changes in the use of land or repair of disposal tanks. Most newly built buildings were multi-household houses, and it has caused road capacity and parking lot capacity, etc., to be exceeded, which has worsened the pleasantness of the living environment. In addition, other problems have also appeared, for example, the lack of residence supporting facilities yet with a higher level of residential density. Regarding the changes in the residential environment after the residential environment improvement project, maintenance of houses were conducted in some degree as diverse alleviation policies to improve poor residence, yet the absence of the guideline for the direction of developing the whole district has made the residence environment more dense and deteriorated. To solve these problems, in advance to a residential improvement project, specific management methods based on short-, mid- and long-term plans for the direction of development by residents' own efforts and a sustainable guideline seem to be necessary.
