Objectives: In this study, dental hygienists' perceptions of dental hygienists' communication and general public's mutual perceptions were compared to seek development directions and plans for improving dental hygienists' communication skills, and furthermore, communication to increase satisfaction between the general public and dental hygienists. This study was conducted to provide basic data on the development and direction of competency improvement education. Methods: From April 1 to April 31, 2023, a survey was conducted through an online link for the general public with dental treatment experience and dental hygienists currently working at dentists in Gwangju and Jeonnam. A total of 258 questionnaires were collected. Independence t-test and paired t-test were performed using SPSS Statistics (ver. 21.0; IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) Results: As a result of analyzing the accuracy of the communication ability of dental hygienists, from the dental hygienist's point of view, general publics perceived that the dental hygienist's underestimation of their own communication ability was actually lower than the dental hygienist's underestimated communication ability. From the general public's point of view, dental hygienists overestimated their communication ability. In fact, dental hygienists perceived their general publics as higher than general public's overestimated communication ability. Conclusions: Based on these results, it is necessary to develop education and operate various educational programs to improve the communication skills of dental hygienists, and to rethink educational accessibility to increase participation in education and to publicize the professionalism of dental hygienists.

This paper investigates the flexural analysis of isotropic, transversely isotropic, and laminated composite plates using a new higher-order normal and shear deformation theory. In the present theory, only five unknown functions are involved compared to six or more unknowns used in the other similar theories. The developed theory does not need a shear correction factor. It can satisfy the zero traction boundary conditions on the top and the bottom surfaces of the plate as well as account for sufficient distribution of the transverse shear strains. The thickness stretching effect is considered in the computation. A simply supported was considered on all edges of the plate. The plate is subjected to uniform and sinusoidal distributed load in the static analysis. Laminated composite, isotropic, and transversely isotropic plates are considered. The governing equations are obtained utilizing the virtual work principle. The differential equations are solved via Navier's procedure. The results obtained from the developed theory are compared with other higher-order theories considered in the previous studies and 3D elasticity solutions. The results showed that the proposed theory accurately and effectively predicts the bidirectional bending responses of laminated composite plates. Several parametric studies are presented to illustrate the various parameters influencing the static response of the laminated composite plates.

Design scheme drawings of the two major corporate hospitals - Asan Medical Center and Samsung Medical Center - are analysed in the aspect of floor area distributions and their proportions for various users and user-functions. Primary users of hospitals are categorized into three ; patients, employees and others. Then, patient spaces are subdivided into patient private, patient/medical, patient/support staff, patient/nursing, patient/guardian, patient common ; employee spaces into doctors, trainees, doctors common, nurses, support staffs, non-medical staffs, employee common ; others spaces into subcontractors, general publics, non-living, and internal circulation. The purpose of this research is to develop a user-focused insight into hospital spaces and a new method of hospital programming and design.

With reducing coal mining industry the number of coal mine sites between 1988 and 1998 was dropped from 347 to 12. Since the abandoned coal mine sites have been kept without any cares, they have raised various environmental and safety problems. Then, Korean government initiated a special law in 1995 for enhancing economic conditions and solving environmental problems with promoting developmental projects in the abandoned mining sites. As a result, casino business in Chungsun area has been opened to publics, and other large-scale developments such as ski slopes and resorts are planned. In addition, Boryung area in Chungchung province also will launch a large-scale project building golf courses. Based on this developmental trend, it is expected that lots of large-scale developments in other places will be taken place. In general, the large-scale developments have caused various environmental problems, and, thus, environmental aspects should be considered in a decision-making process. This paper examine the status of the abandoned mine sites in Korea and U.S. and suggests the alternatives of its utilization.

This study examines multiple functions of the complex cultural center. Recently, the importance of the complex cultural center has been growing, as peoples desire for cultural activities diversified. In order to effectively accommodate the general publics interests in various cultural activities, the complex cultural center tended to be multi-functional. At the same time, I argue that it is necessary to reexamine its functions in terms of how the multi-complex cultural center fits into local environment. Only when both peoples demand and local environment are fully integrated into its design, can the multi-complex cultural center accomplish the goal of multiple functions in a true sense.

This paper presents an analytical solution to the thermomechanical bending analysis of functionally graded sandwich plates by using a new hyperbolic shear deformation theory in which the stretching effect is included. The modulus of elasticity of plates is assumed to vary according to a power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic ceramic material. The effects of functionally graded material (FGM) layer thickness, volume fraction index, layer thickness ratio, thickness ratio and aspect ratio on the deflections and stresses of functionally graded sandwich plates are investigated.

The study investigated USFK's crisis communication responding to the case of two Koran girls' death. The two girls were hit by an American tank accidently. The accident has resulted in anti-American demonstrations by a large number of South Korean. The current research attempted to see what problems USFK's crisis communication with Korean publics. Through analyzing USFK news release in Korea and Army News (ARNEWS) in America regarding the case, the study answered what crisis communication strategies USFK used and How the USFK responded to the crisis. The results showed that USFK used full apology strategy and its crisis response was immediate, but prior reputation of USFK seemed making USFK's effort fruitless.

In the United States, when NHTSA initiates the vehicle defect investigation, the most of automotive manufactures voluntary start their vehicle's recall campaign immediately. However, in the domestic market, NGOs, medias and even the National Assembly complaint the attitude of domestic and foreign makers tendencies of retardation of recall campaign. Also there were criticism for the manufacturer's concealing or downsize of their vehicle defects to the publics. In general, the manufactures may wait until MLIT's decision to recall orders. Therefore, in this study, from the survey of foreign countries legal recall systems and it is recommended reinforcement of the current vehicle management law to promote more frequent voluntary recall campaign from makers. In this study, it is also includes summarize all previous recall related research works and proposes the more stringent regulations to punish of concealing or downsize their vehicle safety defects.
