  • Fermented whey solution presenting bifidogenic growth stimulation (BGS) activity was processed as prototypes such as sterilized fermented whey (SFW), spray-dried fermented whey (SDFW), and freeze-dried fermented whey (FDFW) and their BGS activities were compared. In optical density ($OD_{600}$) test, the BGS activity of three prototypes, which showed similar activities, were significantly different with non-fermented whey solution adjusted to pH 4.5 as a control (P<0.05). In viable cell count test, SDFW had the most positive influence than other prototypes on the BGS activity even though the difference was not significant. However, the activities of all prototypes were significantly different than the negative control (no addition). These results indicate that the processed prototypes of fermented whey solution show BGS activities and might be commercialized, with further evidences, in animal or human studies.

  • In this paper, a new competition strategy for learning vector quantization is proposed. The simple competitive strategy used for learning vector quantization moves the winning prototype which is the closest to the newly given data pattern. We propose a new learning strategy based on k-nearest neighbor prototypes as the winning prototypes. The selection of several prototypes as the winning prototypes guarantees that the updating process occurs more frequently. The design is illustrated with the aid of numeric examples that provide a detailed insight into the performance of the proposed learning strategy.

  • This paper examines the physics and mechanics governing the dynamic interaction between physical systems and suggests the four structures of bond graph prototypes, considered as a general model that can promise their dynamic behavior physically resonable. The bond graph prototypes originating from the paper are more realistic junction structures than those used to model dynamic systems conventionally by bond graph standards in whether physical constraints are involved or not when the energy exchange between two dynamic components arises. It is shown that the bond graph prototypes are dynamic or energetic in their describing equations compared to the bond graph standards, and connectivity and causality are properties of dynamic systems upon which the steps developed in this paper for the bond graph prototypes are wholly based and their definitions an concepts are highly emphasized all through the paper.

  • This study aimed to develop and pilot-test educational program prototypes of training health coaches to help cancer patients overcome crises and create positive growth. For this purpose, the educational contents and methods of the blended learning program prototypes were derived through learner needs and literature analysis. The prototypes, which consist of introducing of health management and health information and understanding and practice of basic coaching and health coaching, were developed to integrate with four sessions of face-to-face, off-line classes, training practices through 12 tele-classes, and use of online learning system. The prototypes were conducted and pilot-tested by a total of 35 students selected through the document screening and the interview. After participating in the blended learning program, learners expressed greater overall satisfaction with each session program (average score = 4.36, with 5 being most satisfied), satisfaction with learning contents (average score=4.42) satisfaction with course preparation (average score = 4.26) and satisfaction with lecture materials (average score = 4.19). The results of this study show that a systematic and integrative approach for designing a blended learning program can be useful for various educational needs in health and medical fields. In the future, empirical studies are expected to see how these curricula are actually implemented and assess whether the intended learning outcomes are achieved.

  • One of the main purposes of architectural history is the analysis of existing designs in order to find laws and orders of certain types, while space planning emphasizes the generation of design. In this study, relational space planning methodology is used to generate Chosun upper-class housing prototypes based on 'Yaejae' logic model. During the Chosun Dynasty era in Korea, Confucianism was the ruling ideology for its society. The patio type house was the main upper-class housing type during the Chosun Dynasty, and it can be viewed that space planning was heavily influenced by the law of 'Yaejae' in Confucianism. The logic of 'Yaejae' can be interpreted as relationships between spaces. Relational space planning methodology that reasons through constraint propagation is used to generate prototypes. Prototypes are compared in order to verify actual applications of the logic into space planning.

  • The objective of this article is to develop residential site planning techniques for the energy conservation by focusing on energy conscious site design process, influencing natural factors for energy conservation and suggestion of multi - family housing Prototypes. This article is the second part of the article titled "A Study on an Energy - Effective Site Planning for a Residential Environment"which is published in the previous issue (Vol. 12, No. 2) of this journal. The first part of the article dealt with how to make best use of energy conserving effect of natural forces such as sun, wind and water, and the selection techniques of suitable residential site for achieving energy conservation. The second part proposes the energy conscious design process of residential site development and suggests building forms of single family and multi -family housings. The three multi - family housing prototypes haute been developed which are most energy -effective ; the linear type, the cut -de -sac type and the atrium type. In the process of creating the prototypes, energy conserving design criteria have been also developed. These criteria can be used to develop some other alternative prototypes.

  • We use prototypes (also known as referent in semiotics) when we understand the outside world. Different language users use different prototypes to decode the same sound. When we learn Chinese language as a foreign language, during it's sound perceptual process, Korean learners' target language prototypes are different from Chinese native speakers'. The purpose of the paper is to examine the theory of speech perception and the theory of constructivism teaching, and to suggest to the Chinese language teachers to have Cunstructivist approach while they design there teaching course. For this, we concerned three things: First is to review speech perception theory and constructivism teaching theory. Second based on the preceding study, we review that learner's prototypes are different from Chinese native speaker and this cause the error of listening and pronunciation. Finally, we introduced two simple speech visualization programs developed to help us learn pronunciation.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of rumen-protected amino acid (RPAA) prototypes, which were chemically synthesized, on in vitro rumen fermentation and protection rate outcomes. Several RPAA prototypes were incubated with timothy hay and concentrate. Treatments consisted of 1) control (CON; no RPAA prototype supplement), and prototypes of 2) 0.5% RP-methionine (RPMet), 3) 0.5% RP-tryptophan (RPTrp), 4) 0.5% RP-valine (RPVal), 5) 0.5% RP-phenylalanine (RPPhe), 6) 0.5% RP-leucine (RPLeu), 7) 0.5% RP-histidine (RPHis), 8) 20% RPMet, and 9) 20% RPTrp (w·w-1 feed). The inoculum (50 mL) prepared with rumen fluid and McDougall's buffer (1 : 4) was dispensed in individual serum bottles and was anaerobically incubated for 0, 6, and 24 h at 39℃ in triplicate. The dry matter degradability did not differ among the groups, except for the 20% RPMet and the 20% RPTrp treatments at 6 and 24 h. The total volatile fatty acid concentration in the 20% RPMet was higher (p < 0.05) than the rest of the groups at 6 h, and 20% RPMet showed the highest molar proportion of acetate, whereas the lowest proportion of propionate was found at 6 h (p < 0.05). The protection rate of the RPAA prototypes ranged from 29.85 to 109.21%. at 24 h. In conclusion, the chemically synthesized RPAA prototypes studied here had no detrimental effects on rumen fermentation parameters. Further studies using animal models are needed for more accurate evaluations of the effectiveness of RPAA.

  • Associative and bidirectional associative memories are examples of associative structures studied intensively in the literature. The underlying idea is to realize associative mapping so that the recall processes (one-directional and bidirectional ones) are realized with minimal recall errors. Associative and fuzzy associative memories have been studied in numerous areas yielding efficient applications for image recall and enhancements and fuzzy controllers, which can be regarded as one-directional associative memories. In this study, we revisit and augment the concept of associative memories by offering some new design insights where the corresponding mappings are realized on the basis of a related collection of landmarks (prototypes) over which an associative mapping becomes spanned. In light of the bidirectional character of mappings, we have developed an augmentation of the existing fuzzy clustering (fuzzy c-means, FCM) in the form of a so-called collaborative fuzzy clustering. Here, an interaction in the formation of prototypes is optimized so that the bidirectional recall errors can be minimized. Furthermore, we generalized the mapping into its granular version in which numeric prototypes that are formed through the clustering process are made granular so that the quality of the recall can be quantified. We propose several scenarios in which the allocation of information granularity is aimed at the optimization of the characteristics of recalled results (information granules) that are quantified in terms of coverage and specificity. We also introduce various architectural augmentations of the associative structures.
