In this study, we conducted a literature review and exploratory research to identify the characteristics of recently popular video information and to propose the basic capabilities required for video information literacy. Through a literature review, the distinct characteristics of video information were examined from various perspectives, differentiating it from other types of information. Subsequently, we had one-on-one, in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 16 participants in their teens to 50s to collect their video usage experiences. The interview contents were categorized to create a codebook, and content analysis was performed. Based on this analysis, we derived the characteristics of video information. Finally, the characteristics of video information were identified through the literature review and interview analysis outcomes, and these characteristics were classified into properties of video and characteristics related to video information usage. Based on the identified characteristics of video information, this study proposed the basic capabilities required for video information literacy.
In this paper, a platform was proposed that can service the streaming of location based real-time video-clip for smart-travel-services to work with PPL(Product Placement). The location information of drama like as LTE GPS and Beacon were used to provide the drama video with the PUSH service. And PPL DB with the attributes like as picture, video, music and URI(Uniform resource Identifier) was designed. As a result, this platform could provide the location based video streaming service that could replace the original PPL properties, color or shape, with the other properties by the interactive tagging the PPL DB in drama scenes. The proposed platform could provide the location based real-time video streaming service that can alter the PPL properties with the request of service provider.

The data-flow paradigm has been employed in various application areas. It is particularly useful where large data-streams must be processed, for example in video and audio processing, or for scientific visualization. A video-based 3D reconstruction system should process multiple synchronized video streams. The system exhibits many properties that can be targeted using a data-flow approach that is naturally divided into a sequence of processing tasks. In this paper we introduce our concept to apply the data-flow approach to a multi-video 3D reconstruction system.

The video phone tube (VPT) of monochrome CRT have utilized home door phone, fish-finder and the rear watch monitors. Phosphor screen formation is made by electrodeposition spin coating and thermal transfer methods etc. Recently, thermal transfer method was developed, as a novel method, to form the phosphor surface for mnonchrom VPT. This method have advantages of simple process, automatization, clean environment, saving raw material and saving running-cost. In this study, it was developed new phosphor of VPT, and tested about phosphor paste properties. An experimental studies of VPT as a new phosphor property and improved VPT's manufacturing process shortening and brightness. As thermal transper method is a paste processing, it is important that rheology of phosphor effects on the formation of phosphor screen. Hence this paper was studied rheology properties of phosphor paste and the formation of phosphor screen had looked most suitable condition. Experimented thermal separation properties of low calcination temperature resin and the result analyzed comparison by TGA. Also, examined calcination properties to reduce remaining binder phosphor.

Transform-domain JND (Just Noticeable Difference)-based for PVC (Perceptual Video Coding) is often performed in quantization processes to effectively remove perceptual redundancy. This study examined the JND-suppression effects on quantized coefficients of transform in HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding). To reveal the JND-suppression effect in quantization, the properties of the floor functions were used for modeling the quantized coefficients, and a JND-adjustment process in an HEVC-compliant PVC scheme was used to tune the JND values by analyzing the JND suppression effect. In the experimental results, the bitrate reduction decreases slightly, but the PSNR and perceptual quality are improved significantly when the proposed JND adjustment process is applied.

In this paper, we propose a dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme for the transmission of VBR video source through ATM based BISDN. In order to efficiently evaluate the required bandwidth, the characteristics of the VBR video sources generated by the MPEG coder are analyzed with variations in the number of GOP and quantizer scale. The required bandwidth for VBR video source is estimated by a prediction algorithm using scene and frame correlations as well as the statistical properties of the VBR video source. Scene correlation represents a strong correlation among the adjacent slices in a frame, and frame correlation represents a strong correlation among the frames. The statistical properties based on the traffic parameters of video sources such as peak rate, average rate, and standard deviation of source are determined through simulation. The performance of the proposed bandwidth allocation scheme is evaluated in terms of the over-allocated bandwidth, bandwidth utilization, and cell loss rate with variations in the quantizer scale and the number of GOP. It is shown that the results of simulation based on the proposed scheme are superior to those of the conventional methods.
One of the recent and most significant technical properties can be expressed as "digital convergence," which is helping lead the technical paradigm into a ubiquitous environment. As an initial trial of realizing a ubiquitous environment, the convergence between broadcasting and telecommunication fields is now on the way, where it is required to develop a scalable video coding scheme for one-source and multi-use media. Traditional scalable video coding schemes have, however, limitations for higher stable picture quality especially on the region of interest. Therefore, this paper introduces an adaptive scanning method especially designed for a higher regional-stable picture quality under a ubiquitous video coding environment, which can improve the subjective quality of the decoded video by most-preferentially encoding, transmitting, and decoding the top-priority image information of the region of interest. Thus, the video can be more clearly visible to users. From various simulation results, the proposed scanning method in this paper can achieve an improved subjective picture quality far better than the widely used raster scan order in conventional video coding schemes, especially on the region of interest, and without a significant loss of quality in the left-over region.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive bandwidth allocation algorithm for the transmission of VBR video through ATM Networks. In order to evaluate the required bandwidth for the VBR video, the characteristics of the compressed VBR video generated by the two-layered coder are analyzed with variations in the number of GOP(N), quantizer scale(q), and the number of low-frequency DCT coefficients(.betha.). The two-layer coder which is used to separate from the number of DCT coefficients is designed to transmit the VBR video efficiently. The compressed data generated by the two-layer coder are splitted into the high priority and low priority cells. If congestion is occurred in ATM networks, the minimum image quality is maintained by the high priority cells. The required bandwidth for VBR video is estimated with a prediction algorithm using the scene anframe correlations as well as the statistical properties of the VBR video sources. Strong correlation among the adjacent slices in a frame represents by the scene correlation andstrong correlation among the frames is represented by the frame correlation. The performance of the bandwidth allocation scheme proposed is evaluated in terms of the bandwith utilization, cell loss rate, and SNR with variations in q, n, .betha.. Simulation rewsults shown that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional methods.

This paper introduces a method for video shot group detection needed for efficient management and summary of video. The proposed method detects shots based on low-level visual properties and performs temporal and spatial clustering based on visual similarity of neighboring shots. Shot groups created from temporal clustering are further clustered into small groups with respect to visual similarity. A set of representative shot frames are selected from each cluster of the smaller groups representing a scene. Shots excluded from temporal clustering are also clustered into groups from which representative shot frames are selected. A number of video clips are collected and applied to the method for accuracy of shot group detection. We achieved 91% of accuracy of the method for shot group detection. The number of representative shot frames is reduced to 1/3 of the total shot frames. The experiment also shows the inverse relationship between accuracy and compression rate.
This Paper provides perceptual metrics for video quality based on properties of human visual system, and audio quality based on human audition. All metrics work without reference signals, allowing non-intrusive, in-service measurements. A simple and easy-to-learn user interface displays the metrics and saves them in popular file formats like CSV. In this paper, proposed method was able to various and corrective measurement for the multimedia service video quality. As that it was able to application to set up service guide line and the methode of measurement and system for the set up standardization of the high quality video service.
