  • Mammography is mostly performed by series projection on both breasts. While taking mammography, it is less than average glandular dose of 3 mGy which regulated. But mammography is exposed much more doses actually, due to additional or series projection. Also, it is difficult to recognize around organ dose except exposed breast. Using mathematical simulation of radiation exposure body in mammography, we studied around organ dose distribution by changing thickness(25, 30, $50{\mu}m$) of filter and relative absorption dose rate which set on basis of exposed breast. as a result, when setting of basis of exposed breast, dose of opposite breast is more affected approximately from 79.26 to 86.31%. when using $25{\mu}m$ of filter thickness than $30{\mu}m$, $50{\mu}m$ of filter thickness in Mo/Mo, W/Rh combination which used actually, absorbed dose rates for opposite breast and around organ were low.

  • This study was performed to find a method to decrease the radiation exposure of patients when obtaining anteroposterior pelvic images maintaining the quality of the image by using the copper filter built in the DR equipment now being used in our hospital. We measured the level of radiation by changing the filters from none filter to 0.1mmCu, 0.2mmCu, and 0.3mmCu and detected the organ level of radiation by PCXMC program. As a result, high levels of radiation were detected in the bladders and testicles and the levels were decreased as the thickness of the filter was increased and the amount of decrease was the highest in 0.1mmCu. And we asked for the expert opinions to 3 radiologists and as a result, only images obtained by 0.1mmCu filter out of all the images on which copper filters were used were accepted as the ones with diagnostic value same as none filter. At this time, the incident dose on the pelvic region was 0.895mGy which was smaller than the one in none filter by 47%. Therefore, using 0.1mmCu when obtaining anteroposterior pelvic images can effectively decrease the radiation exposure of patients.

  • This paper proposes a method of implementing synthetic stereo and an acoustic echo cancellation algorithm for multiple participant conference system. Synthetic stereo is generated by HRTF and two loudspeakers. A robust adaptive algorithm for synthetic stereo echo cancellation is proposed to reduce the weight misalignment due to near-end speech signals and ambient noises. The proposed adaptive algorithm is modified version of SMAP algorithm and the coefficients of adaptive filter is updated with cross correlation of input and estimation error signal normalized with sum of the autocorrelation of input signal and the power of the estimation error signal multiplied with projection order. This is more robust to projection order and ambient noise than conventional SMAP. Computer simulation show that the proposed algorithm effectively attenuates synthetic stereo acoustic echo.

  • In this paper, a new pre-processing algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of stereo acoustic echo canceller. The proposed algorithm has the improved performance by the estimation error reduction of filter coefficient using input signal which was reduced reverberation of room in the basis MINT (Mu1tip1e-input/output Inverse Theorem) filtering. For real stereo speech signal and real room impulse response the results of simulation, we showed that the proposed method could improved 3∼5 dB ERLE (Echo Return Loss Enhancement) regardless of NLMS (Normalized Least Mean Square) and Projection adaptive algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a method to reduce operation time using discrete cosine transform and to improve image quality by the DC gain correction. Conventional filtered back projection (FBP) filtering in the frequency domain using Fourier transform, but the filtering process uses complex number operations. To simplify the filtering process, we propose a filtering process using discrete cosine transform. In addition, the image quality of reconstructed images are improved by correcting DC gain of sinograms. To correct the DC gain, we propose to find an optimum DC weight is defined as the ratio of sinogram DC and optimum DC. Experimental results show that the proposed method gets better performance than the conventional method for phantom and clinical CT images.

  • Adaptive algorithm used in Acoustic Echo Canceller (AEC) needs fast convergence algorithm when reference signal is colored speech signal. Set-Membership Affine Projection (SMAP) algorithm is derived from the constraint, which is the minimum value adaptive filter coefficient error. In this paper, we test the characteristic about noise of the SMAP algorithm and proposed modified version of SMAP algorithm fur using at AEC. As the projection order increase, the convergence characteristic of the SMAP algorithm is improved where no noise space. But if the noise uncorrelated with input signal exists, the AEC shows bad performance. In this paper, we propose normalized version of adaptive constants using estimated error signal for robust to noise and show the good performance through AEC simulation.

  • An LMI-based method for robust $L_2-L_{\infty}$ filter design is proposed for poly topic uncertain time-delay systems. By using the Projection Lemma and a suitable linearizing transformation, a strict LMI condition for $L_2-L_{\infty}$ filter design is obtained, which does not involve any iterations for design-parameter search, any couplings between the Lyapunov and system matrices, nor any system-dependent filter parameterization. Therefore, the proposed condition enables one to easily adopt, with help of efficient numerical solvers, a parameter-dependent Lyapunov function approach for reducing conservatism, and to design both robust and parameter-dependent filters for uncertain and parameter-dependent time-delay systems, respectively.

  • This paper describes a filtering algorithm which employs apriori information of SPECT lesion detectability potential for the filtering of degraded projection images prior to the backprojection reconstruction. In this algorithm, we determined m minimum detectable lesion sized(MDLSs) by assuming m object contrasts uniformly-chosen in the range of 0.0-1.0, based on a signal/noise model which provides the capability potential of SPECT in terms of physical factors. A best estimate of given projection image is attempted as a weighted combination of the subimages from m optimal filters whose design is focused on maximizing the local S/N ratios for the MDLS-lesions. These subimages show relatively larger resolution recovery effect and relatively smaller noise reduction effect with the decreased MDLS, and the weighting on each subimage was controlled by the difference between the subimage and the maximum-resolution-recovered projection image. The proposed filtering algoritym was tested on SPECT image reconstruction problems, and produced good results. Especially, this algorithm showed the adaptive effect that approximately averages the filter outputs in homogeneous areas and sensitively depends on each filter strength on contrast preserving/enhancing in textured lesion areas of the reconstructed image.

  • Amultiresolution filtering algorithm based on the physical SPECT lesion detachability provides and optimal solution for SPECT reconstruction problem. Related to the previous study, we estimated the SPECT lesion detection capability by m minimum detectable lesion sizes (MDLSs), and generated m reconstruction filters which are designed to maximize the smoothing effect at a fixed MDLS-dependent resolution level $\frac{MDLS}{4\sqrt{2In2}}$. The proposed multiresolution filtering algorithm used a coarse-to-fine approach for the m-level resolution filter images obtained from these m filters for a given projection image. First, the local homogeneity is determined for every pixel of the filter images, by comparing the local variance value computed in a window centered at the pixel and the mode determined from the distribution of the local variances. Based on the local homogeneity, the pixels declared as homogeneous are chosen from the filter image of the lowest resolution, and for the other pixels the same process is repeated for the higher resolution filter images. For the non-homogeneous pixels after this pixels after this repetition process ends, the pixel values of the highest resolution filter image are substituted. From the results of the simulated experiments, the proposed multiresolution filtering algorithm showed a strong smoothing effect in the homogeneous regions and a significant resolution improvement near the edge regions of the projection images, and so produced good adaptability effects in the reconstructed images.

  • SEM observation revealed that the gastric mill of Nyctiphanes australis consists of paired cluster spines and paired lateral teeth, while the filter-press is absent. The morphology of the gastric mill was extremely constant; the numbers of both setiform processes of cluster spines and serrated spines of lateral teeth increased with increasing body length. The cluster spines of N. australis consisted of a single row of stout setiform processes but the lateral teeth comprised a large projection with small serrated spines. The cluster spines are symmetrical in setiform process distribution, however, the lateral teeth are asymmetrical in number of serrated spines.
