Background Breast projection is a critical element of breast reconstruction aesthetics, but little has been published regarding breast projection as the firm expander is changed to a softer implant. Quantitative data representing this loss in projection may enhance patient education and improve our management of patient expectations. Methods Female patients who were undergoing immediate tissue-expander breast reconstruction with the senior author were enrolled in this prospective study. Three-dimensional camera software was used for all patient photographs and data analysis. Projection was calculated as the distance between the chest wall and the point of maximal projection of the breast form. Values were calculated for final tissue expander expansion and at varying intervals 3, 6, and 12 months after implant placement. Results Fourteen breasts from 12 patients were included in the final analysis. Twelve of the 14 breasts had a loss of projection at three months following the implant placement or beyond. The percentage of projection lost in these 12 breasts ranged from 6.30% to 43.4%, with an average loss of projection of 21.05%. Conclusions This study is the first prospective quantitative analysis of temporal changes in breast projection after expander-implant reconstruction. By prospectively capturing projection data with three-dimensional photographic software, we reveal a loss of projection in this population by three months post-implant exchange. These findings will not only aid in managing patient expectations, but our methodology provides a foundation for future objective studies of the breast form.

This paper presents a scheme for geometric correction of projected content for planar and quadratic projection surfaces. The scheme does not require the projection surface to be perfectly quadratic or planar and is therefore suitable for uneven low-cost commercial and home projection surfaces. An approach based on the recursive subdivision of second-order B$\acute{e}$zier patches is proposed for the estimation of projection distortion owing to surface imperfections. Unlike existing schemes, the proposed scheme is completely automatic, requires no prior knowledge of the projection surface, and uses a single uncalibrated camera without requiring any physical markers on the projection surface. Furthermore, the scheme is scalable for geometric calibration of multi-projector setups. The efficacy of the proposed scheme is demonstrated using simulations and via practical experiments on various surfaces. A relative distortion error metric is also introduced that provides a quantitative measure of the suppression of geometric distortions, which occurs as the result of an imperfect projection surface.

Projection stereolithography is an additive manufacturing method that uses beam projection to cure the photo-reactive resin used. The light source of a cross-section layer-form illuminates photo-curable resin for building a three-dimensional (3D) model. This method has high accuracy and a fast molding speed because the processing unit is a face instead of a dot. This study describes a Scalable Projection Stereolithography 3D Printing System for improving the accuracy of the stereolithography. In a conventional projection 3D printer, when printing a small sized model, many pixels are not used in the projection or curing. The proposed system solves this problem through an optical adjustment, and keeps using the original image as possible as filling the whole projection area. The experimental verification shows that the proposed system can maintain the highest level of precision regardless of the output size.

In the affine projection algorithm(APA), the projection dimension depends on a number of projection basis and of elements of input vector used for updating of coefficients of the adaptive filter. The projection dimension is closely related to a convergence speed of the APA, and it determines computational complexity. As the adaptive filter approaches to steady state, convergence speed is decreased. Therefore it is possible to reduce projection dimension that determines convergence speed. In this paper, we proposed the variable dimension affine projection algorithm (VDAPA) that controls the projection dimension and uses the relation between variations of coefficients of the adaptive filter and convergence speed of the APA. The proposed method reduces computational complexity of the APA by modifying the number of projection basis on convergence state. For demonstrating the good performances of the proposed method, simulation results are compared with the APA and normalized LMS algorithm in convergence speed and computational quantity.
In this article, some projection methods (or fractional-step methods) are proposed and analyzed for the micropolar Navier-Stokes equations (MNSE). These methods allow us to decouple the MNSE system into two sub-problems at each timestep, one is the linear and angular velocities system, the other is the pressure system. Both first-order and second-order projection methods are considered. For the classical first-order projection scheme, the stability and error estimates for the linear and angular velocities and the pressure are established rigorously. In addition, a modified first-order projection scheme which leads to some improved error estimates is also proposed and analyzed. We also present the second-order projection method which is unconditionally stable. Ample numerical experiments are performed to confirm the theoretical predictions and demonstrate the efficiency of the methods.

We present fast stereo matching algorithm using edge projection. Traditional stereo matching algorithm uses 2D template for the search of corresponding point thus it requires huge the computational cost. In this paper, we reduce the 2D search problem into 1D using edge projection along vertical and horizontal direction inside the region of interest. Also, by accumulation of edge projection along vertical and horizontal direction, the edge projection within the region of interest could simply be obtained by just subtracting two values. Experimental results show that matching algorithm using edge projection also gives comparable discriminating power compared to that of using intensity.

In this paper, we propose a prgressive image transmission technique using hierarchical pyramid data structure which is constructed based on the projection data of an image. To construct hierarchical Gaussian pyramids, we first divide an image into 4$\times$4 subblocks and generate the projection data of each block along the horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and antidiagonal directions. Among images reconstructed by backprojecting the projection data along a single direction, the one giving the minimum distortion is selected. The Gaussian pyramid is recursively generated by the proposed algorithm and the proposed Gaussian images are shown to preserve edge information well. Also, based on the projection concept a new transmission scheme of the lowest Laplacian plane is presented. Computer simulation shows that the quantitative performance of the proposed pyramid coding technique using projection concept is similar to those of the conventional methods with transmission rate reduced by 0.1 ~ 0.2 bpp and its subjective performance is shown to be better due to the edge preserving property of a projection operation.
In this paper resistance projection weldability of Zn coated steels with post treatment has been discussed. Projection welding was performed by a condenser discharge type power source which was equipped with welding parameter monitoring system. Mechanical test results indicated that the effect of post coatings on the projection front changed showing very small very small spattering at the weld strength was negligible. However, contamination rate of the block electrode varied depending on the post treatment coatings. Test results also showed that projection height before welding should be kept to be 80-100% of the specimen thickness as far as the surface quality was taken into consideration. Based on the high speed photography, discharge condition at the beginning stage of the welding process. It was considered that the spattering reduced the weld strength slightly at the optimum heat input range.

이와 함께 LoG(laplacian of gaussian) 필터링을 이용하여 에지 맵을 추출한다.
The approximate solvability of a generalized system for non-linear variational inequality in Hilbert spaces was studied, based on the convergence of projection methods. But little research was done in Banach space. The primary reason was that projection mapping lacked preferably property in Banach space. In this paper, we introduced the generalized projection methods. By using these methods, the results presented in this paper extended the main results of S. S. Chang [3] from Hilbert spaces to Banach space.
