  • This study assessed the needs and aspirations for after-school programs for 421 employed mothers with a school-age child. Furthermore, 20 cases of after-school programs presently opened in Seoul and Kyungkido were analyzed and evaluated in terms of the factors related to quality of child care programs. A tentative after-school program model was developed on the basis of data from the assesment of parental requests and the evaluation of the present programs. The objectives of after-school programs, program activities, caregiver's role, group constellation, supervision of the programs, and care service time were discussed in the model.

  • Objectives: This study attempted to apply the Intervention mapping and Transtheoretical models to develop a program to promote moderate alcohol drinking in university students. Methods: Surveyed data from 1,137 university students were analyzed to identify personal and environmental determinants for alcohol drinking. Based on these determinants, program objectives were established. Crossing the objectives with related important determinants resulted in matrices of learning objectives for which educational strategies were developed. Subsequently, an intervention program were designed to achieve those objectives. Results: Identified personal determinants included awareness, attitudes, self-efficacy and behavioral skills. Environmental determinants were binge drinking behaviors of family members and peers, and social pressure for drinking. Program, impact and learning objectives were developed to change the identified determinants. Program activities included provision of information on positive and negative consequences of binge drinking, opportunities for assessing one's drinking pattern, increasing outcome expectancies of and skill building for monitoring drinking, resisting peer pressure and managing stress. To facilitate adoption and maintenance of the program, an intervention diffusion plan was suggested. An evaluation plan was developed by utilizing RE-AIM framework. Conclusions: In order to expand evidence bases for effective theory-based programs, the developed program should be tested in diverse university settings.

  • The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing, and many firms are investing in expert system, one of AI's subfields. An expert system is defined as a computer program designed to replicate some aspect of the decision making of one or more experts and to be used by nonexperts. The kernel of an expert system is the knowledge base, which consists of the facts and rules that represent the expert's knowledge. Firms need expert systems for training employees to provide competitive advantage. This paper describes the model of an instructional expert training system which interfaces to external programs, such as an ASCII file, a work-sheet program, and a database program. A model for such an expert training system, and its prototype have been developed to demonstrate its functionality. A modular knowledge base has been developed and implemented in support of this study. The modularized knowledge base offers the user an easy and quick maintenance of facts and rules, which are frequently required to change in future.

  • This paper presents a study on the development of discharge model and computer program for assessing the risk of electrostatic discharge(ESD) of charged human body This ESD event is modelled as a two-body problem using spherical conductors, simulating the approach of a charged conductor (human body) to a second conductor (electronic equipment). The charge/discharge process for the model is formulated as a matrix of equations by Maxwell's method. Body potentials, energies and the charge transfer during a discharge are calculated. The developed program, based on the suggested scheme in this paper, is applied to a sample system. The results provide a better understanding of ESD event and demonstrate the usefulness of two-body model in practical applications.

  • With the aim to provide an efficient platform for the elastic-plastic analysis of steel structures, reinforced concrete (RC) structures and steel-concrete composite structures, a program iFiberLUT based on the fiber model was developed within the framework of ABAQUS. This program contains an ABAQUS Fiber Generator which can automatically divide the beam and column cross sections into fiber sections, and a material library which includes several concrete and steel uniaxial material models. The range of applications of iFiberLUT is introduced and its feasibility is verified through previously reported test data of individual structural members as well as planar steel frames, RC frames and composite frames subjected to various loadings. The simulation results indicate that the developed program is able to achieve high calculation accuracy and favorable convergence within a wide range of applications.

  • In this paper, We described the method which developed the optimal control system for air separation unit to change production rates frequently and rapidly. Control models of the process were developed from actual plant data using subspace identification method which is developed by many researchers in resent years. The model consist of a series connection of linear dynamic block and static nonlinear block (Wiener model). The model is controlled by model based predictive controller. In MPC the input is calculated by on-line optimization of a performance index based on predictions by the model, subject to possible constraints. To calculate the optimal the performance index, conditions are expressed by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequalities). In order to access at the Bailey DCS system, we applied the OPC server and developed the Client program. The OPC sever is a device which can access Bailey DCS system. The Client program is developed based on the Matlab language for easy calculation, data simulation and data logging. Using this program, we can apply the optimal input to the DCS system at real time.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to examine predictors of allied health science students' exercise behavior using Pender's Health Promotion Model. Method: The subjects were 203 university students majoring in nursing, emergency medical service, and exercise prescription. The hypothetical model was based on the HPM(Pender, 1996). Exogenous variables of the model were exercise habit and role belief. Endogenous variables were exercise-related affect, exercise self-efficacy, exercise barrier, exercise intention, and exercise behavior. The data were analyzed by SAS PC program and LISREL 8.12 program. Result: The degree of exercise behavior was low(mean 1.86, range 1~4). The overall fit of the model to the data was acceptable. Exercise habit, exercise self-efficacy and exercise-related affect were significant predictors of exercise intention and exercise behavior. Conclusion: This study shows the necessity of the program to increase the level of exercise participation of university students majoring in allied health science. The model constructed in this study is applicable to explain exercise behavior of university students majoring in allied health science, and suggests that we should focus on exercise habit, exercise self-efficacy and exercise-related affect to increase the level of exercise behavior of this group.

  • This study was attempted to investigate the possibilities of fitness evaluation of virtual model using 3D clothes modeling software. For the purpose, two one-piece dresses were made with two kinds of patterns using Qualoth program, and then each dress was fitted to a real model and a virtual model, and the results were compared and discussed. The result of this study was as follows. First, the fitness evaluation of real model showed a significant difference only at a little difference in figures (1-2.5cm) of the pattern, while any significant difference in appearance was not found in case of a virtual model fitted a dress made out of a pattern with the same difference in figures. Second, items to evaluate a difference in patterns using 3D clothes modeling software were shoulder line, the distance between shoulder points, armhole line, ease of armscye depth, and overall appearance. Because all the items fall under design lines which make up outer lines of a cloth, it can be said that the Qualoth program is good for representing design, rather than exposing a small difference in patterns.
