인공 신경망의 패턴분석에 근거한 지능적 부품품질 관리시스템의 설계 (Design of Intelligent Material Quality Control System based on Pattern Analysis using Artificial Neural Network)

  • In resolving industrial quality control problems, a vector of multiple quality characteristic variables is involved rather than a single variable. However, it is not guaranteed that a multivariate control chart based on statistical methods can monitor abnormal signal in case that small changes of relationship between each variables causes abnormal production process. Hence a quality control system for real-time monitoring of the multi-dimensional quality characteristic vector under a multivariate normal process is needed to enhance tile production system quality performance. A pattern analysis approach based on self-organizing map (SOM), an unsupervised learning technique of neural network, is applied to the design of such a quality control system. In this study we present a new material quality control system based on pattern analysis approach and illustrate the effectiveness of proposed system using actual electronic company material data.

Preliminary design of a production automation framework for a pyroprocessing facility

  • Pyroprocessing technology has been regarded as a promising solution for recycling spent fuel in nuclear power plants. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has been studying the current status of equipment and facilities for pyroprocessing and found that existing facilities are manually operated; therefore, their applications have been limited to laboratory scale because of low productivity and safety concerns. To extend the pyroprocessing technology to a commercial scale, the facility, including all the processing equipment and the material-handling devices, should be enhanced in view of automation. In an automated pyroprocessing facility, a supervised control system is needed to handle and manage material flow and associated operations. This article provides a preliminary design of the supervising system for pyroprocessing. In particular, a manufacturing execution system intended for an automated pyroprocessing facility, named Pyroprocessing Execution System, is proposed, by which the overall production process is automated via systematic collaboration with a planning system and a control system. Moreover, a simulation-based prototype system is presented to illustrate the operability of the proposed Pyroprocessing Execution System, and a simulation study to demonstrate the interoperability of the material-handling equipment with processing equipment is also provided.

감마분포 공정을 위한 변동계수 관리도의 통계적 설계 (The Statistical Design of CV Control Charts for the Gamma Distribution Processes)

  • Recently, the control chart is developed for monitoring processes with normal short production runs by the coefficient of variation(CV) characteristic for a normal distribution. This control chart does not work well in non-normal short production runs. And most of industrial processes are known to follow the non-normal distribution. Therefore, the control chart is required to be developed for monitoring the processes with non-normal short production runs by the CV characteristics for a non-normal distribution. In this paper, we suggest the control chart for monitoring the processes with a gamma short runs by the CV characteristics for a gamma distribution. This control chart is denoted by the gamma CV control chart. Futhermore evaluated the performance of the gamma CV control chart by average run length(ARL).

생산 라인에서의 실시간 배치 크기 결정 (Real-Time Batch Size Determination in The Production Line)

  • This paper develops an algorithm to determine the batch size of the batch process in real time for improving production and efficient control of production system with multiple processes and batch processes. It is so important to find the batch size of the batch process, because the variability arising from the batch process in the production system affects the capacity of the production. Specifically, batch size could change system efficiency such as throughput, WIP (Work In Process) in production system, batch formation time and so on. In order to improve the system variability and productivity, real time batch size determined by considering the preparation time and batch formation time according to the number of operation of the batch process. The purpose of the study is to control the WIP by applying CONWIP production system method in the production line and implements an algorithm for a real time batch size decision in a batch process that requires long work preparation time and affects system efficiency. In order to verify the efficiency of the developed algorithm that determine the batch size in a real time, an existed production system with fixed the batch size will be implemented first and determines that batch size in real time considering WIP in queue and average lead time in the current system. To comparing the efficiency of a system with a fixed batch size and a system that determines a batch size in real time, the results are analyzed using three evaluation indexes of lead time, throughput, and average WIP of the queue.

Distributed ECU System Design for High Speed and High Precision Control of a Marine Engine

  • Efficient control of a marine engine requires an engine control unit (ECU) system that handles fast and precise signal processes for in-coming and out-going signals from fast running engines. In order to handle these roles, the sequential control has been adapted in the ECU system in small and medium size ship engines, which has caused high production cost and complexity of the system. Hence, this paper is focused on developing an distributed ECU system for high speed and high precision control of a marine engine by efficiently combining a CPLD chip and a microprocessor. By sharing load at the MCU with the designed CPLD chip, we could achieve in driving a marine engine with high speed and precise control so that the ECU board has been simplified and its production cost has been reduced.

  • We report QLA (Quenching-rate controlled Laser Annealing) system as new concept using pulsed DPSSL and CW lasers. This process can control temperature quenching-rate of poly-Si crystallization by additional CW laser and fabricate high quality poly-Si with faster scanning speed than conventional processes. In this paper, QLA system, the experimental results and theoretical discussion will be introduced.

  • Software linear and exponential acceleration/deceleration algorithms for control of machine axes of motion in industrial robots and CNC machine tools are proposed. Typical hardware systems used to accelerate and decelerate axes of motion are mathematically analyzed. Discrete-time state equations are derived from the mathematical analyses for the development of software acceleration/deceleration algorithms. Synchronous control method of multiple axes of motion in industrial robots and CNC machine tools is shown to be easily obtained on the basis of the proposed acceleration/deceleration algorithms. The path error analyses are carried out for the case where the software linear and exponential acceleration/deceleration algorithms are applied to a circular interpolator. A motion control system based on a floating point digital signal processor (DSP) TMS 320C30 is developed in order to implement the proposed algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that the developed algorithms and the motion control system are available for control of multiple axes and nonlinear motion composed of a combination of lines and circles which industrial robots and CNC machine tools require.

  • A neural network based control algorithm with fuzzy compensation is proposed for the automated adjustment in the production of electronic end-products. The process of adjustment is to tune the variable devices in order to examine the specified performances of the products ready prior to packing. Camcorder is considered as a target product. The required test and adjustment system is developed. The adjustment system consists of a NNC(neural network controller), a sub-NNC, and an auxiliary algorithm utilizing the fuzzy logic. The neural network is trained by means of errors between the outputs of the real system and the network, as well as on the errors between the changing rate of the outputs. Control algorithm is derived to speed up the learning dynamics and to avoid the local minima at higher energy level, and is able to converge to the global minimum at lower energy level. Many unexpected problems in the application of the real system are resolved by the auxiliary algorithms. As the adjustments of multiple items are related to each other, but the significant effect of performance by any specific item is not observed. The experimental result shows that the proposed method performs very effectively and are advantageous in simple architecture, extracting easily the training data without expertise, adapting to the unstable system that the input-output properties of each products are slightly different, with a wide application to other similar adjustment processes.

Production Information Monitoring System for CIM in Footwear Industry

  • This paper presents a production information monitoring system as an infrastructure of CIM system in footwear industry. The system is composed of hardware devices of terminal, communication converter, line controller and software for manufacturing processes. A terminal like a scanner is used for shop floor data input and a line controller is used to link between terminal and server. LAN and RS485 are used for connecting hardware components and deliver their information mutually. In the system, real time production information is acquired from information resources such as group of uppers and soles. The collected production information is delivered to a line controller and analyzed. Server receives information from line controller and machines for production management. Production planning information that is machined in the server is delivered to the shop floor and used for the production management of work in process, and used for improvement of productivity in a footwear production company. The implementation of the developed system shows the effectiveness of the system.
