  • The pyrolysis conditions for the thermal isomerization products of pinane were carried out by the furnace type pyrolyzer and the curie-point pyrolyzer equipped with gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer. It was confirmed that curie-point type is much better furnace type, and high yield (70%) of citronellene was obtained from pinane as the main isomerization product under the best conditions by curie-point type. The optimum conditions of pyrolysis are $590^{\circ}C$ for 4 sec. and the major products were indentified as citronellene, m-Menth-6-ene, m-Menth-1-ene and 1-Methyl-4-(1-methylethylidiene) cyclohexane.

  • Purpose: The Emission Trading Scheme (ETS), which enables structuring emission credits as a financial product, is taking a crucial position of global collaboration against climate change. Previous studies that have covered ETS subjects from the macro perspective contribute to facilitating legal enactment of this scheme. However, they have rarely addressed challenges aligned with issues arising from labor burdens for ETS works from the business perspective. Research Design, data and methodology: This study presents conceptual models that are expected to help design an electronic system. The study model contains four modules: emission allocation, data interface, reduction technology sharing, and emission trading. Two validation approaches, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and regression analysis, are applied in confirming the feasibility of the proposed model. Results: This study suggests an IT system methodology to help improvement of the current K-ETS mechanism. In particular, this study addresses effectiveness for real businesses and the adaptability of this mechanism to other nations. Conclusions: The proposed IT platform diagram can contribute to successful operation of ETS by providing multiple benefits to participating companies through in-house allocation mechanisms, the soft-landing of ETS adoption to participating companies through reduction of technology-sharing, group purchases, and transaction costs through the trading system.

  • Bacterial strains which degrade Arabian Light crude oil were isolated by enrichment culture from oil-spilled soil. The strain A54 was finally selected after testing emulsifying activity and oil conversion rate. Strain A54 was identified as a Acinetobacter sp. based on the morphological, biochemical and physiological characteristics. It appears to be highly specialized for growth on Arabian Light crude oil in minimal salts medium since it showed preference for oil or degradation products as substrates for growth. It was found that it could grow on at least fifteen different hydrocarbons. The optimum cultural and environmental conditions were as follows; 25$\circ$C for temperature, 7,5 for pH, 2.0% for NaCl concentration and 2.0% for crude oil concentration. Additionally, the optimal concentration of NH$_{4}$NO$_{3}$, and K$_{2}$HPO$_{4}$, were 12.5 mM and 0.057 mM, respectively. Cell growth and emulsifying activity as a function of time were also determined. Crude oil degradation and the reduction of product peaks were identified by the analysis of remnant oil by gas chromatography. Approximately 63% of crude oil were converted into a form no longer extractable by mixed organic solvents.

  • The removal characteristics for aromatic and aliphatic VOCs by electron beam (EB) were discussed in terms of several removal variables such as initial VOC concentration, absorbed dose, background gas, moisture content, reactor material and inlet temperature. It was reviewed that only reactor material was an independent variable among the potential control factors concerned. It was also suggested that main mechanism by EB should be radical reaction for the VOC removal rather than that by primary electrons. It was discussed that the removal efficiency of benzene was lower than that of hexane due to a closed benzene ring. In the case of aromatic VOCs, it was observed that the decomposition of the VOCs with more functional groups attached on the benzene ring was much easier than those with less ones. As for aliphatic VOCs, it was also implied that the longer carbon chain was, the higher the removal efficiency became. An EB-catalyst hybrid system was discussed as an alternative way to remove VOCs more effectively than EB-only system due to much less by-products. This hybrid included supporting materials such as cordierite, Y-zeolite, and $\gamma$-alumina.

  • Using the quarternary ammonium salts as phase transfer catalyst, the nucleophilic substitution reaction of 1-chlorooctane with sodium-cyanide was investigate kinetically with respect to the formation of octanenitrile. The product was analyzed with gas chromatograph, and quantity of octanenitrile was measured. The reaction condition was considered by the effect of the reaction temperature, of the species and the amount of catalyst, of the speed of strirring, and of the concentration of reactants. The reaction was carried out in the first order on the concentration of 1-chlorooctane and sodium cyanide, respectively. The over-all order was 2nd. The activation energies for the nucleophilic substitution reaction of 1-chlorooctane and 1-bromooctane under tetrabutylammonium hydrogen-sulfate were calculated as 2.05 and 10.08kcal/mol, respectively. The effect of various caltalysts was decreased in the order of tetrabutylammonium bromide, terabutylammonium, tetrabutylammonium hydrogensulfate, and tetrabutylammonium iodide. The reaction rate was dependent on the concentration of sodium-cyanide dissolved in the aqueous phase, and the good result was shown when the mol ratio between 1-chlorooctane and sodium cyanide was one per three.

  • CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons) and HCFCs (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons) that are chemically stable were proven to be a greenhouse gases that can destroy ozone layer. On the other hand, HFCs (Hydrofluorocarbons) was developed as an alternative refrigerant for them, but HFCs still have a relatively higher radiative forcing, resulting in a large Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1,300. Current regulations prohibit production and use of these chemicals. In addition, obligatory removal of existing material is in progress. Methods for the decomposition of these material can be listed as thermal cracking, catalytic decomposition and plasma process. This study reports the development of low cost and high efficiency plasma scrubber. Stability of steam plasma generation and effect of plasma parameters such as frequency of power supply and reactor geometry have been investigated in the course of the development. Method for effective removal of by-product also has been investigated. In this study, elongated rotating arc was proven to be efficient in decomposition of HFCs above 99% and to be able to generate stable steam plasma with steam contents of about 20%.

  • An analytical expression for the turbulent burning velocity is derived from the asymptotic zone conditional transport equation at the leading edge. It is given as a sum of laminar and turbulent contributions, the latter of which is given as a product of turbulent diffusivity in unburned gas and inverse scale of wrinkling at the leading edge. It was previously shown that the inverse scale is equal to four times the maximum flame surface density in the wrinkled flamelet regime [1]. The linear behavior between $U_T$ and u' shows deviation with the inverse scale decreasing due to the effect of a finite flamelet thickness at higher turbulent intensities. DNS results show that $U_T/S^0_{Lu}$ may be given as a function of two dimensionless parameters, $u'/S^0_{Lu}$ and $l_t/\delta_F$, which may be transformed into another relationship in terms of $u'/S^0_{Lu}$, and Ka. A larger $l_t/{\delta}_F$ or a smaller Ka leads to a smaller scale of wrinkling, hence a larger turbulent burning velocity in the limited range of $u'/S^0_{Lu}$. Good agreement is achieved between the analytical expression and the turbulent burning velocities from DNS in both wrinkled and thickened-wrinkled flame regimes.

  • In the present work, bael shell (aegle marmelos) is used as the feedstock for pyrolysis, using a fixed bed reactor to investigate the characteristics of the pyrolysis oil. The product yields, e.g., liquid, char and gases are produced from the biomass at different temperatures with the particle size of 0.5-1.0 mm, at the heating rate of $150^{\circ}C/min$. The maximum liquid yield, i.e., 36.23 wt.%, was found at $5500^{\circ}C$. Some physical properties of the pyrolysis oil such as calorific value, viscosity, density, pH, flash point and fire point are evaluated. The calorific value of the bael shell pyrolysis oil was 20.4 MJ/kg, which is slightly higher than the biomass, i.e., 18.24 MJ/kg. The H/C and O/C ratios of the bio-oil were found as 2.3 and 0.56 respectively, which are quite higher than some other bio-oils. Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) and Fourier Transform Infra-red (FTIR) analyses showed that the pyrolysis oil of bael shell is mostly composed by phenolic and acidic compounds. The results of the properties of the bael shell pyrolysis oil reveal the potential of the oil as an alternate fuel with the essential upgradation of some properties.

  • Our country has depended on fossil fuel very much according to the Increasing of the demand of the electric power. For instance, if the reduction and freezing caused by the warm gas in earth by the regulation of international environment happen in Korea it will bring about the result of weakness in industrial activity. As a result, it will cause many problems to compete an advanced country which wants to connect environment with the activity of industrial product in their country. The photovoltaic system outputs have peak about a half past 13 o'clock(before and after) mainly in a good weather. The output decreases rapidly from a half past 17 o'clock and PV output doesn't work at six o'clock before the sun rises. The outputs of PV system stops at that time. The frequent degree of harmonics in dwelling house which lots of people live has peak from 19 o'clock to 22 o'clock Harmonics mainly happens at least at night. In recent, many researches about power quality has been studying very hard in order to solve the question, the voltage fluctuating and harmonics as one compensator. In this paper, I suggest the algorithm which can increase the power quality as a rate of operation of this system. This algorithm proves to have effectiveness through computer simulation.

  • In this paper, the $CF_4$ decomposition rate and by-product were investigated for a simulated two plasma reactors which are metal particle reactor and spiral wire reactor as function of mixed gases. The $CF_4$ decomposition rate by plasma reactor with metal particle electrode had a gain of 20~25[%] over that by plasma reactor with spiral wire electrode. The $CF_4$ decomposition efficiency increases with increasing applied voltage up to the critical voltage for spark formation. The $CF_4$ decomposition efficiency of metal particle reactor was about 80[%] at AC 24[kV]. The $CF_4$ decomposition rate used $Ar-N_2$ as base gas was the highest among three base gases of $N_2$, $Ar-N_2$, air. The by-products of the $N_2$, $Ar-N_2$ base as were similar, but in case of air base they were different.
