  • Today the tastes of consumers change rapidly and the kinds of the products become diverse. Therefore the product life cycle becomes shorter and shorter. Moreover the save of resources and the recycling for the environmental preservation are the essential theme. On this the necessary information for the product development increases enormously. For the right use of the information the design process should be supported by the proper design tool. For this the 'design catalogue system for recycling' is suggested here. This system consists of four parts, that is, 'the existing automobile system database', 'working principle database', 'assessment system of the ease of disassembly' and 'one's own product development database' By the use of this system the product development period could be reduced about 30% drastically.

  • World Business Council for Sustainable Development(WBCSD) is effort to achieve sustainable development in economic growth, environmental preservation and social development. Being this way, it is essential for developing evaluation tool which quantify to fulfill sustainable development. Eco-efficiency is one of the quantitative tools to evaluate environmental impact and economic aspect. Eco-efficiency, in general term, means creating more value of product or services with less impact to environment. It indicates as environmental impact in denominator and value of product or services in numerator. Eco-efficiency shows how much economic value reveals to unit environmental impact caused by product or service as an indicator. This study aims at developing eco-efficiency indicator of railway industry considering use stage among the entire life cycle stage of KTX and Saemaul train and also, figure out eco-efficiency value through indicator. Therethrough, it is enables to evaluate created value per environmental aspects. Since rail vehicles demands a lot of energy to transport people during use stage, the environmental impact is more significant than other lkfe cycle stages. Therefore, it quantified environmental indicator as CO2 emission and economic indicator as transportation record per a year with an annual income. This study contributes to be used as a tool for quantifying indicator of comparison evaluation in respect of rail vehicle in use stage.

  • This paper presents a design methodology for developing a new push scooter. A case study is clone with effective planning processes to ensure the product quality under the different phases of a product design process. Parametric model based design process simulation and optimization is implemented by using ANSYS application tool. The relationship matrix and decision matrix are drawn by using several methods. The simulation results for deterministic design and robust design are compared. This entire design process phase can support the design and quality improvements for a new product development.

  • Recently we started a development of the digital meister expert system for the product design supporting in manufacturing industry. Knowledge representation is of major importance in digital moister expert system. This rule-based expert system-knowledges are designed for a certain type of knowledge representation such as rules or logic. The way in which a rule-based expert system represents knowledge affects the development, efficiency, speed, and maintenance. Eventually, this digital moister system is used to the engineer in manufacturing industry for the process control, production management and system management. In this paper, we propose the digital moister system knowledge representation method for product design supporting in manufacturing industry and we present introduction and contents of rule-based knowledge representation supporting tool.

  • 본 연구는 사무자동화 교육을 위한 저작시스템을 개발하는데 있다. 연구과정에서CAI도구를 EXSYS Professional을 이용하였으며, OA 저작시스템 구축하여 컴퓨터를 이용한 개별화 교육을 할 수 있는 기본적인 툴을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 사무자동화 교육을 위한 저작 프로그램을 구현함으로써 학습자에 대한 지적 기능 향상과 학습 흥미 변화를 유도하여 학습자 스스로 학습할 수 있는 효과를 얻었다.

  • Although consumer needs for better products force manufactures to put emphasis on design, often development of a product has been done without the formal process to consider consumer needs. In order to identify the implicit needs of customers and the areas of potential demand on a product, several analysis scheme such as QFD (Quality Function Deployment) has been developed. QFD, also known as the House of Quality, is the efficient tool ever created to tie product and service design decisions directly to customer wants and needs, i.e. VoC (Voice of Customer) To utilize this tool on a product design, first of all, the consumers attributes and the engineering characteristics must be exactly investigated. However there were only few studies about them on shoe design. Hence in this paper we developed an innovative framework for shoes design based on QFD. As a result, we uncovered 29 dominant human satisfaction dimensions as the consumers attributes for customer-oriented quality evaluation of a comfortable shoes. Here, 29 human satisfaction dimensions for a shoe design were identified as the dimensions that represent the human sensitivity and psychological feeling on comfortable shoes. Also, we proposed 60 human interface elements as the engineering characteristics. The relationships between human satisfaction dimensions and human interface elements were investigated. This study will help the designers and manufacturers clarify the conceptual and abstract aspect of the design evaluation by proposing a more systematic and process-oriented method.

  • At present, the manufacturing industry is in a process of a great change. There is a demand for a variety of types and shorter product life. The change increases the number of different tools and frequencies of tool changes. For the most part, the tools are presetted and offset values are entered manually or via punched tapes to NC machines. Thus a large amount of capital is tied up in the tool area and considerable productive time is lost. Consequently, there is a need for improvement in tool management. This paper describes a computer controlled tool data management system which include: 1) tool identification with bar code. 2) computer aided management and updating of tool data. 3) tool data communication with tool presetter, CNC, etc.

  • 오늘날 산업 디자인은 단지 유저 인터페이스(User Interface)와 기술적인 개선을 통한 제품을 시장에 제공하고 있는 것처럼 보여지고 있다. 일반적으로 제품을 구입하는 소비자는 제품을 처음 대하는 순간자신의 특별한 감정과 경험들을 동원하여 제품에 어떤 의미를 부여하려고 한다. 제품에 나타나는 은유적인 특성을 제품 언어라고 하는데, 우리 디자이너들은 그 은유적인 특성에 대한 정확한 인식 또는 가공 방법에 대하여 끊임없는 연구가 선행되어야 할 것이다. 우리가 사용하는 모든 오브젝트(Object) 또는 제품(Product)에는 고유한 미학적인 가치가 함축되어 있으며, 그것은 제품이 사용되는 환경에 따라 다르게 보여질 수 있다. 그리고 객관성이 미약할 경우에, 제품에서 나타나는 은유적인 특성은 새로운 도구 시스템을 요구하게 된다. 비르크호프의 미학적 척도를 응용한 제품 분석은 제품에 포함되어 있는 고유한 은유적인 특성과 제품 개발을 위한 도구로 응용될 수 있으며, 이를 통하여 디자인 조작이 보다 용이하게 된다. 예를 들어 비르크호프의 미학적 척도를 응용하여 시장에서 판매의 우위를 보이고 있는 제품에 대한 미학적 척도를 분석한 후 그 제품에 적용된 제품 언어를 분석하면 소비자의 기호도를 인지할 수 있게 된다. 비르크호프의 미학적 척도의 에플리케이션(Application)은 하나의 시스템이자, 디자인 프로세스를 보다 원활하게 수행하게 하는 일종의 도구(Tool)인 것이다.

PLM 입문을 위한 교육과정 개발 (Developing an Introductory Training Course to PLM)

  • Product Life cycle Management (PLM) is an indispensable tool for manufactures to develop competitive products in an efficient way. This enlarges the number of participants for product development who should understand PLM for their supporting activities. However, burdens for developing example products, maintaining complex PLM systems and training prerequisite skills for engineering tools such as CAD systems prohibit an efficient introductory course to PLM. This paper proposes a comprehensive introductory course to PLM that bases on general product development process. In addition, it enables participants to build their example products with familiar Lego blocks and to construct 3D CAD assembly models by using predefined 3D elements. The PLM system for the course provides an intuitive and simple user environment for participants to specify their parts lists, associated 3D CAD models, and product structure of example products. Experiences on a class of the course show it is a valid and efficient education and training method for the PLM introduction.
