In the current study, the effect of small surface defects in the starting material including roughness, indentations, or scratches, which are perpendicular to the direction of drawing, on the product quality is investigated using the finite element method. An axisymmetric defect is assumed. Such defects are defined by a cylindrical defect area and two tapered regions connecting the defect area to the non-defective area of the material. Various conditions for these initial surface defects are considered, including defect depth, defect slope and defect length. To describe the plastic deformation of the defect in detail during the simulation, local remeshing is applied. Based on the finite element results, defect disappearance maps were generated. It was found that defect disappearance is significantly dependent on the defect depth and the defect length coupled with the defect slope.

Applying deep learning to machine vision systems for defect detection of products requires vast amounts of training data about various defect cases. However, since data imbalance occurs according to the type of defect in the actual manufacturing industry, it takes a lot of time to collect product images enough to generalize defect cases. In this paper, we apply a Siamese neural network that can be learned with even a small amount of data to product defect detection, and modify the image pairing method and contrastive loss function by properties the situation of product defect image data. We indirectly evaluated the embedding performance of Siamese neural networks using AUC-ROC, and it showed good performance when the images only paired among same products, not paired among defective products, and learned with exponential contrastive loss.

This paper presents a study of cold combined forward-backward extrusion product. The case of product with thin wall in piercing process occur defects of deformation and breakdown during piercing process and the center web of product with thin thickness cause flow defect. Such defect is made by the difference of material flow. Methods of the material flow control in the two directions and forming process to remove this flow defect is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is examined by comparison experiment and finite element simulation.

There may be several parallel equipments having the same function in a multi-stage manufacturing process, which affect the product quality differently and have significant differences in defect rate. The product quality may depend on what equipments it has been processed as well as what process variable values it has. Applying one model ignoring the presence of different equipments may distort the prediction of defect rate and the identification of important quality variables affecting the defect rate. We propose a procedure for data segmentation when constructing models for predicting the defect rate or for identifying major process variables influencing product quality. The proposed procedure is based on the principal component analysis and the analysis of variance, which demonstrates a better performance in predicting defect rate through a case study with a PDP manufacturing process.

The purpose of this study is to present the range of defects mentioned in the Product Liability (PL) and to establish an objective basis and grounds for the analysis of accidents expected to happen by analyzing and presenting the external flame pattern and electrical characteristics of an LED streetlight lamp, a new lighting lamp. From the analysis of the cross-section of a cable carbonized by an external flame, it was observed that the wire's strand and insulation material had solidly adhered, and that greater voids were formed at the surface than at the center. Irregular carbide lumps were formed in the globe directly exposed to the flame, and the globe carbonized by the indirect flame showed characteristics that they had melted and flowed downward. It was found that the forward and backward resistances of the normal LED were approximately 1.74 [$M{\Omega}$] and 140 [$M{\Omega}$], respectively. The lamp burnt by the strong flame exhibited infinite forward and backward resistances and the LED did not emit light. The carbonized LED lamp was gray and exhibited fine delaminations. According to the Product Liability, a product defect signifies a simple product defect. Most of the defects were caused by the lack of stability, and the defect of the product itself occurred during the design and manufacture. The defects in warnings and markings include an insufficiency of handling manuals and warnings, expressive warranty violations, defective markings, etc. In order to prevent an accident resulting from a product, it is necessary to prepare safety warnings and documentation, establish clear-cut lines of liabilities, and subscribe insurances. However, it could be seen that important factors against the Product Liability were product improvement, response to compensation requests and law suits, credit restoration, etc.

The purpose of this study is to find empirical relationship between PL activities and firm performance. Five categories of PL activities and three performance measures were examined. Using a sample of 135 companies, we found that activities related to TQM practices and manufacturing defect had significant impacts on all three measures of performance. Activities related to design defect, warning defect and sales partially influenced performance measures. The result suggests that performance could be maximized by the mutual organic combination of the product safety efforts with the overall process from design to sales.
This study proposes a stepwise approach to product safety management(PSM), of which roadmap consists of five phases. ISO 9001 QM model is assumed as the first-phase model and each higher-phase model is built by adding a corresponding module to the lower one. In the phase order, those modules are CCMS, a failure to warn, manufacturing defect and design defect. The progress in PSM of a domestic food company is discussed.
Product liability law lies at the center of the modem world. This law concerns liability for damages arising from the commercial sale of a product that causes personal injury or property damage because it was defective or falsely represented. One engaged in the business of selling or otherwise distributing products who sells or distributes a defective product is subject to liability for harm to persons or property caused by the defect. In short, product defectiveness is the heart of products liability law. Regardless of the underlying cause of action, the plaintiff in nearly every products liability case must prove that the defendant's product contained an unnecessary hazard that caused the harm. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the meaning of the product defectiveness to products liability claims in China. In China, Product to include most movable personal property, but to exclude services. And a product is defective when, at the time of sale or distribution, it contains a manufacturing defect, is defective in design, or is defective because of inadequate instructions or warnings.

The interest in software defects is growing. Companies are working on reducing them by various ways with a software development part, customer service part and quality management part. The defect data collected from them will be analyzed according to the condition and purpose to minimize the defect, and it will contribute to improving the quality of products. This study analyzed the software defect progress for companies based on the test maturity model, and set up the defect preventing process. They were applied to the project, and the number of defects decreased from 106 to 16. This study focused on the existing defect, which is a basic requirement for software quality management, and have importance by presenting a way to improve the software product quality with minimum resources.

Human, physical damage is happened frequently to consumer's safety accident by product defect on modern industrial society. Accordingly, advanced nation including the United States of America enforce product liability law and is protecting consumer more actively from danger of product defect. Our country(Korea) may enforce product liability law since July, 2002, and if business does not grope effective confrontation way about PL, capital strength weak smaller enterprise and venture business corporation's competitive power may affect much corporation's competitive power enfeeblement and survival. This research supplement based on induction and operating QMS in smaller enterprise essential factor that corporations must equip according to product liability law enforcement. And we present integration quality management system model of Product liability to do so that smaller enterprises may can cope effectively at force of Product liability law.
