Various security threats exist in the smart grid environment due to the fact that information and communication technology are grafted onto an existing power grid. In particular, smart metering data exposes a variety of information such as users' life patterns and devices in use, and thereby serious infringement on personal information may occur. Therefore, we are in a situation where a de-identification algorithm suitable for metering data is required. Hence, this paper proposes a new de-identification method for metering data. The proposed method processes time information and numerical information as de-identification data, respectively, so that pattern information cannot be analyzed by the data. In addition, such a method has an advantage that a query such as a direct range search and aggregation processing in a database can be performed even in a de-identified state for statistical processing and availability.

A prototype of combustion zone monitoring system as been developed and installed into tuyeres of the blast furnace. The system consists of CCD(charge coupled device) cameras, sonic flow meters, an image processor and a personal computer. The personal computer collects raceway luminance data and operational data from the image processor that is connected to the color CCD camera from the blast furnace process computer, respectively. In addition, the sonic flow meters supply coal injection rate data to the personal computer. Then, the personal computer evaluates the combustion conditions with the raceway inspection algorithm. This integrated monitoring system allows us to detect abnormal raceway conditions and the clogging status of coal injection pipe. The image processing techniques of the system enable us to effectively monitor unburnt coal sticking to tuyere tip and injection lance wear conditions. Such a developed system ensures rapid and precise raceway inspection. The image processing capability of the system has helped operator to early detect both the unburnt coal sticking problem and the errosion problem of injection lance. Furthermore, the system could control the abnormal raceway condition based the the analysis results obtained from combustion monitoring.

Recently, the processing and utilization of big data, which is generated by the spread of smartphone, SNS, and the internet of things, is emerging as a new growth engine of ICT field. However, in order to utilize such big data, De-identification of personal information should be done. De-identification removes identifying information from a data set so that individual data cannot be linked with specific individuals. De-identification can reduce the privacy risk associated with collecting, processing, archiving, distributing or publishing information, thus it attempts to balance the contradictory goals of using and sharing personal information while protecting privacy. De-identified information has also been re-identified and has been controversial for the protection of personal information, but the number of instances where personal information such as big data is de-identified and processed is increasing. In addition, many de-identification guidelines have been introduced and a method for de-identification of personal information has been proposed. Therefore, in this study, we describe the big data de-identification process and follow-up management, and then compare and analyze de-identification methods. Finally we provide personal information protection issues and solutions.

Engine analyzer is developed with the aids of personal computer, A/D converter, interfacing signal transducer and data processing computer programs. The objective of this development are that it should firstly be produced at the resonable low price compared with imported one taking advantage of using existing personal computer and printer, and it should also give good quality of performance. For the attainment of this objective, A/D converter should have been developed to meet the price limit of the equipment. The experiment is performed in a 4 cycle 4 cylinder gasoline engine by this analyzer, and all the information which are necessary for the combustion analysis can be obtained through the processing of the pressure data that are stored in the computer. These are pressure-volume curve, pressure-crank angle curve, the rate of pressure rise and heat release versus crank angle curve etc. With this developed experimental system of resonable price, it will be considered that more easy way of engine data pick-up and processing is possible.
The purpose of this study is to profile actual conditions of personal information protection systems operated in overseas countries and examine major considerations of personal information that security service providers must know in the capacity of privacy information processor, so that it may contribute to preventing potential occurrence of any legal disputes in advance. Particularly, this study further seeks to describe fundamental idea and principle of said Personal Information Protection Act; enhancement of various safety measures (e.g. collection/use of privacy data, processing of sensitive information/personal ID information, and encryption of privacy information); restrictions on installation/operation of video data processing devices; and penal regulations as a means of countermeasure against leakage of personal information, while proposing possible solutions to cope with these matters. Using cases among foreign countries for this study.
This paper introduces a sea environmental monitoring system for measuring pH,DO, level and temperature. This system is developed using a personal computer(PC) and multiple single board computers. A PC communicates with the single board computers by awireless communication method and transfers data to another personal computer for processing data by a modem. The values of pH,Do,level and temperature, which are basic components to estimate sea environment, are real-timely processed in the single board computer at each stations, and transferred to the monitoring PC. These data are graphically shown on the PC monitor and logged on the data processing system in the form of file. Using the wire and wireless communication system, user can constantly analyze the acquired data and detect the sea contamination.

COVID-19, a highly infectious disease, has affected the globe tremendously since its outbreak during late 2019 in Wuhan, China. In order to respond to the pandemic, governments around the world introduced a variety of public health measures including contact-tracing, a method to identify individuals who may have come into contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient, which usually leads to quarantine of certain individuals. Like many other governments, the South Korean health authorities adopted public health measures using latest data technologies. Key data technology-based quarantine measures include:(1) Electronic Entry Log; (2) Self-check App; and (3) COVID-19 Wristband, and heavily relied on individual's personal information for contact-tracing and self-isolation. In fact, during the early stages of the pandemic, South Korea's strategy proved to be highly effective in containing the spread of coronavirus while other countries suffered significantly from the surge of COVID-19 patients. However, while the South Korean COVID-19 policy was hailed as a success, it must be noted that the government achieved this by collecting and processing a wide range of personal information. In collecting and processing personal information, the data minimum principle - one of the widely recognized common data principles between different data protection laws - should be applied. Public health measures have no exceptions, and it is even more crucial when government activities are involved. In this study, we provide an analysis of how the governments around the world reacted to the COVID-19 pandemic and evaluate whether the South Korean government's digital quarantine measures ensured the protection of its citizen's right to privacy.
In Internet of Things (IoT) era, more diverse types of information are collected and the environment of information usage, distribution, and processing is changing. Recently, there have been a growing number of cases involving breach and infringement of personal information in IoT services, for examples, including data breach incidents of Web cam service or drone and hacking cases of smart connected car or individual monitoring service. With the evolution of IoT, concerns on personal information protection has become a crucial issue and thus the risk analysis and management method of personal information should be systematically prepared. This study shows risk factors in IoT regarding possible breach of personal information and infringement of privacy. We propose "a risk analysis framework of protecting personal information in IoT environments" consisting of asset (personal information-type and sensitivity) subject to risk, threats of infringement (device, network, and server points), and social impact caused from the privacy incident. To verify this proposed framework, we conducted risk analysis of IoT services (smart communication device, connected car, smart healthcare, smart home, and smart infra) using this framework. Based on the analysis results, we identified the level of risk to personal information in IoT services and suggested measures to protect personal information and appropriately use it.
Temporal medical data is often collected during patient treatments that require personal analysis. Each observation recorded in the temporal medical data is associated with measurements and time treatments. A major problem in the analysis of temporal medical data are the missing values that are caused, for example, by patients dropping out of a study before completion. Therefore, the imputation of missing data is an important step during pre-processing and can provide useful information before the data is mined. For each patient and each variable, this imputation replaces the missing data with a value drawn from an estimated distribution of that variable. In this paper, we propose a new method, called Newton's finite divided difference polynomial interpolation with condition order degree, for dealing with missing values in temporal medical data related to obesity. We compared the new imputation method with three existing subspace estimation techniques, including the k-nearest neighbor, local least squares, and natural cubic spline approaches. The performance of each approach was then evaluated by using the normalized root mean square error and the statistically significant test results. The experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed method provides the best fit with the smallest error and is more accurate than the other methods.

Collecting and utilizing have a huge amount of personal data have caused severe security issues such as leakage of personal information. Several encryption algorithms for collected personal information have been widely adopted to prevent such problems. In this paper, a novel algorithm based on MapReduce is proposed for encrypting such private information. Furthermore, test environment has been built for the performance verification of the distributed encryption processing method. As the result of the test, average time efficiency has improved to 15.3% compare to encryption processing of token server and 3.13% compare to parallel processing.
