Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose adoption of QFD and Stage-gate in order to analyze the quality of korea defense system. Methods: Drawing change data of initial production phase in korea defense system were anlayzed and a practical method was proposed. Results: The results of this study are as follows; Off line Quality Control should be introduced in development phase. Specially, in case of defense system, the best method is QFD(Quality Function Deployment) and Stage-gate process. At first, QFD 1 step defines product planning from VOC(Voice Of Customer), QFD 2 step specifies part planning from product planning, QFD 3 step defines process planning from part planning, QFD 4 step defines production planning from previous process planning. Secondly, Stage-gate process is adopted. This study is proposed 5 stage-gate in case of korea defense development. Gate 1 is located after SFR(System Function Review), Gate 2 is located after PDR(Preliminary Design Review), Gate 3 is located after CDR(Critical Design Review), Gate 4 is located after TRR(Test Readiness Review) and Gate 5 is located before specification documentation submission. Conclusion: Off line QC(Quality Control) in development phase is necessary prior to on line QC(Quality Control) in p roduction phase. For the purpose of off line quality control, QFD(Quality Function Deployment) and Stage-gate process can be adopted.
This study explains the planning practical training that researches the process of functional game planning approach by developing functional games. The main focus of this study is the practical training process of planning which is an important part of game development jobs by developing games with proper functional materials, 'Framework of Planning Functional Game', and the verification of framework by developing functional games. This paper suggests that the functional game planning approach with the right function requires progressive/quantitative standard, which is different from typical process. Therefore, this paper is useful as reference materials of a functional game education through the cases of games developed by the progressive/quantitative approach standard.

This paper addresses the integrated problem of process planning and scheduling in FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System). The integration of process planning and scheduling is important for an efficient utilization of manufacturing resources. In this paper, a new method using an artificial intelligent search technique, called asymmetric multileveled symbiotic evolutionary algorithm, is presented to handle the two functions at the same time. Efficient genetic representations and operator schemes are considered. While designing the schemes, we take into account the features specific to each of process planning and scheduling problems. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with those of a traditional hierarchical approach and existing evolutionary algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the compared algorithms.
In semiconductor manufacturing, the probe process between fabrication and assembly process is constrained mostly by the equipment capacity because most products pass through the similar procedures. The probe process is usually performed in a batch mode with relatively short cycle times. The capability of the probe process can be determined by the optimal combination of the equipments and the products. A probe line usually has several types of equipment with different capacity. In this study, the probe line is modeled in terms of capacity to give the efficient planning and control procedure. For the practical usage, the hierarchical capacity planning procedure is used. First, a monthly capacity plan is made to meet the monthly production plan of each product. Secondly, the daily capacity planning is performed by considering the monthly capacity plan and the daily fabrication output. Simple heuristic algorithms for daily capacity planning are developed and some experimental results are shown.

This paper presents an approach to automate process planning of press dies for manufacturing of car bodies. Considering that the press-dies used at the same press operations regardless of the panels they produce or the car models of which they produce panels have similar shapes except for the forming part of the dies, general approaches to recognize manufacturing features from CAD models are not necessary. Therefore, a hybrid approach is proposed combining feature-based design and feature-extraction approaches. The proposed method recognizes features by parsing the parameters extracted from CAD models and finds proper operations by querying the database by the recognized features. An internet-based process planning system is developed to demonstrate the proposed approach and to suggest a new paradigm of process planning system that utilizes an internet access to the CAD system.

In order to automatically determine the sequences of block assembly operations in shipbuilding, a process planning system using case-based reasoning (CBR) is developed. A block-assembly planning problem is modeled as a constraint satisfaction problem where the precedence relations between operations are considered constraints. The process planning system generates an assembly sequence by adapting information such as solutions and constraints collected from similar cases retrieved from the case base. In order to find similar cases, the process planning system first matches the parts of the problem and the parts of each case based on their roles in the assembly, and then it matches the relations related to the parts-pairs. The part involved in more operations are considered more important. The process planning system is applied to simple examples fur verification and comparison.

This study prepared the list of planning components required for constructing environment-friendly industrial complex and grasped major environment-friendly planning components by measuring the importance per each planning component via the survey for specialists. As a result of measuring the importance of planning component according to each field for constructing environment-friendly industrial complex, it is indicated that important planning components in natural environment field are establishing complex location plan considering its configuration and slope, excluding projects for steep slope-land, establishing countermeasures for reducing contaminants per its source, and separated location of contamination industry around living space. In living environment field, proposed planning components having relatively high importance are separated location of pollution causing industry, establishing energy saving land use plan, linking with green way, circulation network plan, lowering noise level at roadside, plan for separating between pedestrian and vehicle, securing parking space, extending green park and proper location, installing green buffer zone, conserving and forming landscapes, land use for raising energy efficiency, and expansion of energy source. In case of ecological environment, core planning components such as conserving upper class of ecological naturality degree, conserving main habitat, and biotope forming plan are suggested. This study is limited to find out planning components for constructing environment-friendly physical environment of industrial complex which is a part of non-production process. The approach to solve environmental problem by linking spatially production process and non-production process. There is a need to conduct follow-up study to constructing technique for environment-friendly industrial complex considering production & nonproduction process afterward.

This paper presents the formal integration of process planning and shop floor control with Petri net formalism. Formal integration means that both planning and control problems can be modeled, interfaced, and transformed with the Petri net formalism. This integrated framework provides a systematic approach for rapidly developing a formal shop floor controller from process planning with respect to shop floor configuration.
A macro-level CAPP system is proposed to plan the complicated mechanical prismatic parts efficiently. The system creates the efficient machining sequence of the features in a part by analyzing the feature information. Because the planning with the individual features is very complicated, feature groups are formed for effective planning using the nested relations of the features of a part, and special feature groups are determined for sequencing. The process plan is generated based on the sequences of the feature groups and features. When multiple machines are required, efficient machine assignment is performed. A series of heuristic rules are developed to accomplish it.

This paper deals with manufacturing process design of a simplified gun tube applying CE principle. A concept and characteristics of CE, mathematical model for understanding interaction between design and manufacturing, basic elements and related equations for process planning and cost estimating are introduced. A Knowledge-based Computer-Aided Process Planning System(KCAPPS) is constructed, yielding optimal production cost/time for the shape input and selection of appropriate machines and tools.
