The purpose of this study was to investigate students' actual thinking processes during conceptual change about free fall. To do this, middle school students were made an interview designed based on a teaching model using thought experiment. From the study, it was found that strategy for generating cognitive conflict by suggesting opposite views was not effective. However, many students changed their prior conceptions when new explanatory hypothesis, which explained why heavy object and light object fall equally, was introduced. And finally, even though students realized that the changed idea did not accord with the real world, they could easily solve that problem by observing demonstration designed to show the effect of air resistance.

This study examined the influences of cognitive conflict and non-cognitive variables induced by a discrepant event on process of conceptual change, and the processes that a discrepant event lead to situational interest. Seventh graders participated in this study. A preconception test was administered to select students possessing misconceptions about density. The tests of cognitive response and situational interest to a discrepant event were administered. After learning with a CAl program, the tests assessing attention and effort allocated to the CAl, and conceptual understanding were also administered. A path analysis revealed that cognitive conflict induced by a discrepant event caused situational interest, which in turn increased attention and/or effort and thus, resulted in conceptual change. The results of the path analysis on the processes in which a discrepant event led to situational interest suggested that novelty may be a primary source of situational interest. Novelty influenced situational interest directly as well as through attention demand, exploration intention, and instant enjoyment. Moreover, novelty exerted a direct effect on challenge, which in turn had negative effects on instant enjoyment directly as well as through cognitive conflict, and thus, decreased situational interest. However, the path coefficients of the latter were relatively smaller than those of the former. Educational implications are discussed.

Risk assessment should be processed when physical circumstances of airspace such as establishment of new flight procedures or reconstruction of existing airspace are planned to change and one of the alternatives for the change have to be selected. This is an effort to find the best alternative which is able to maintain at or above the acceptable risk level. ICAO and its contracting states provide specialized guidance material for 'Safety Management System' relating to handing airspace matters. These manuals include a conceptual framework for managing safety as well as some of the systemic processes and criteria used to meet the objectives of a State's safety programme. This criteria must be established in compliance with the State's laws and regulations for air safety and for the fulfillment of the State's safety goals. This study is to carry out the risk assessment criteria through literature reviews relevant to the safety management, and to propose the results of criteria to be applicable for establishing flight procedure design process.

The purpose of the study was to suggest the characteristics and goals of the science teaching model for use as criteria in selecting the appropriate teaching model for science in secondary schools. These characteristics and the goals have been organized based on the analyses of the literature on the teaching and/or instructional model. The teaching models have been classified into four areas, and the characteristics and goals of each area have been summarized as follows: $\cdot$ Traditional models: teaching of scientific knowledge through lectures, acquisition of scientific knowledge through discovery, acquisition of inquiry process skills through inquiry-based teaching/learning $\cdot$ Transitional models: demonstration and discovery as teaching strategies, acquisition of inquiry process skills through inquiry approach, acquisition and change of scientific knowledge $\cdot$ Modernistic model - conceptual change models: differentiation of scientific knowledge, exchange of misconceptions for scientific concepts - learning cycle models: conceptual differentiation, exchange of misconceptions, acquisition of science process skills Also described in this paper are the model's characteristics and goals that can be used as the criteria for selecting the appropriate teaching model for the subject that will be taught.
Precise concept analysis has been neglected be-cause of a lack of understanding of its necessity and a lack of conceptual analytic knowledge. Concept analysis is the mental work of examining parts, phenomenon and the interrelated whole of a thing. Focus in this article is to extract the critical attributes of hardiness and make an operational delinition. The process of concept analysis is illustrated and documented using the analytic approach described by Walker and Avant (1983). To explore the explicit or implicit meanings of hardiness, existing literature was reviewed. The evolution of hardiness and the dictionary definitions were also added. Hardiness can be defined as follows : A condition of being inured to fatigue or hardship which has three subcomponents-challenge, control and commitment. Critical attributes of hardiness were extracted that may be used in naming the occurrence of the phenomenon. Model case, contrary case, borderline case and related case were described. Antecedents and consequences were explored. The defining critical attributes of hardiness are : 1. Resistance-hardiness involves resistance of stress or hardship. 2. Hardiness involves appraisal of change as a chance. 3. Hardiness implies interpretation of events and self as influential,. 4. Hardiness requires active involving reaction Implications for nursing and for further study are added.
Objective: Today The human need for health promotion and maintenance is increasing. Health professionals have a great responsibility for helping clients to practice good health behavior. We need to define compliance which is best fit in the philosophy of the health discipline. The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of compliance. Methods: Concept analysis is the act of examining parts, phenomenon and the interrelated parts of a whole. The process of concept approach described by Walker and Avant (1995). Is this study, a concept analysis of compliance was performed to comprehensively understand and develop effective health intervention methods: Result & Conclusion: The defining attributes of compliance identified in this study are as follows; the ability to complete or perform what is needs, to be malleability, to take initiative, to be adaptability and to be flexibility. 1) Be gentle and easily changeable (Malleability) 2) To take the initiative, a first step, or move towards an end or aim (Initiative) 3) Be able to change their ideas and behavior in order to deal with new situation (Adaptability) 4) Be able to change easily and adapt to different conditions and circumstances (Flexibility) Finally, the implication of these findings for further research and health promotion intervention are discussed.

In spite of the importance of cognitive conflict in conceptual change, there has been little research on the characteristics of cognitive conflict in students enrolled at vocational high schools. The purpose of this study was to expose these students' cognitive conflict types and investigate characteristics of cognitive conflict according to the type of cognitive conflict. This paper examined how vocational students' motivational beliefs and epistemological beliefs affect the process of cognitive conflict when students are confronted with an anomalous situation related to the action and reaction concept. Results indicated that many vocational students experienced low levels of cognitive conflict and remained passive during the explanation of anomalous phenomenon or easily desisted any attempt to resolve the conflict situation because of their epistemological belief to depend on the external absolute knowledge of teachers, an extrinsic motivation to choose easier tasks, or reliance on the teachers' reputations. Therefore, Instructors need to recognize these characteristics in order to facilitate vocational students' conceptual change when presenting cognitive conflict tasks.
Semantic similarity/relatedness measure between two concepts plays an important role in research on system integration and database integration. Moreover, current research on keyword recommendation or tag clustering strongly depends on this kind of semantic measure. For this reason, many researchers in various fields including computer science and computational linguistics have tried to improve methods to calculating semantic similarity/relatedness measure. This study of similarity between concepts is meant to discover how a computational process can model the action of a human to determine the relationship between two concepts. Most research on calculating semantic similarity usually uses ready-made reference knowledge such as semantic network and dictionary to measure concept similarity. The topological method is used to calculated relatedness or similarity between concepts based on various forms of a semantic network including a hierarchical taxonomy. This approach assumes that the semantic network reflects the human knowledge well. The nodes in a network represent concepts, and way to measure the conceptual similarity between two nodes are also regarded as ways to determine the conceptual similarity of two words(i.e,. two nodes in a network). Topological method can be categorized as node-based or edge-based, which are also called the information content approach and the conceptual distance approach, respectively. The node-based approach is used to calculate similarity between concepts based on how much information the two concepts share in terms of a semantic network or taxonomy while edge-based approach estimates the distance between the nodes that correspond to the concepts being compared. Both of two approaches have assumed that the semantic network is static. That means topological approach has not considered the change of semantic relation between concepts in semantic network. However, as information communication technologies make advantage in sharing knowledge among people, semantic relation between concepts in semantic network may change. To explain the change in semantic relation, we adopt the cognitive semantics. The basic assumption of cognitive semantics is that humans judge the semantic relation based on their cognition and understanding of concepts. This cognition and understanding is called 'World Knowledge.' World knowledge can be categorized as personal knowledge and cultural knowledge. Personal knowledge means the knowledge from personal experience. Everyone can have different Personal Knowledge of same concept. Cultural Knowledge is the knowledge shared by people who are living in the same culture or using the same language. People in the same culture have common understanding of specific concepts. Cultural knowledge can be the starting point of discussion about the change of semantic relation. If the culture shared by people changes for some reasons, the human's cultural knowledge may also change. Today's society and culture are changing at a past face, and the change of cultural knowledge is not negligible issues in the research on semantic relationship between concepts. In this paper, we propose the future directions of research on semantic similarity. In other words, we discuss that how the research on semantic similarity can reflect the change of semantic relation caused by the change of cultural knowledge. We suggest three direction of future research on semantic similarity. First, the research should include the versioning and update methodology for semantic network. Second, semantic network which is dynamically generated can be used for the calculation of semantic similarity between concepts. If the researcher can develop the methodology to extract the semantic network from given knowledge base in real time, this approach can solve many problems related to the change of semantic relation. Third, the statistical approach based on corpus analysis can be an alternative for the method using semantic network. We believe that these proposed research direction can be the milestone of the research on semantic relation.
Recently, the importance of ISP(Information System Planning) has been increased because of rapid change and severe competition in business environments. Furthermore, the role of IS in the organization has included not only the supportive activities but also the strategic activities. Organizations can get the competitive advantages through the strategic use of IT by establishing effective and systematic ISP implementation. The main focus of this study is investigate the relationship among three subunits(organizational factors, the role of IS and effective ISP) based on the contingent settings which the process of ISP is implemented. The reasons that conceptual framework of this study is based on the contingent theory are as follow: First, ISP process itself has a series of complicated work which various elements in a company are involved. ISP externally must have the process to evaluate information technology (technology related with IS). Internally ISP process has a serious of works including determining information requirements to develop successful IS for other functional departments and identifying strategic opportunity of IS aligned with business strategy. Secondly, the activity of ISP is occurring on the continual basis. Business environments in which ISP process has implemented are changing continuously. Specific ISP methodology which was appropriate in a certain period of time does not work any more because of the rapid changes in business environments. For this reason managers can hardly expect successful ISP without considering external environments or internal environments such as organizational or management side. For this study, 240 survey questionnaires were mailed and 71 questionnaires were returned. 57 samples were used for the final analysis and 14 samples were excluded from analysis in that they didn't exercise official and systematic ISP. As the result of analysis, among the internal factors(organizational size, time frame of decision making, budget, management style, organizational culture) organizational culture, management style and time frame of decision making are identified as contingent factors on the effective ISP. The result of this study may have meaning in suggesting the way to develop effective ISP through the formalization of business process, more favorable users attitude toward IS and selection of an appropriate ISP methodology.

As the amount of informatization investment is rapidly increasing in many organizations, it becomes more inevitable to manage computing resources (information systems, computing facilities and manpower etc.) effectively. Specially, in public sector It is thought to be very important to achieve the economy of scale by integrating computing resources which are managed individually in many agencies. Also, our government have been recently making much efforts to raise the effectiveness of operating the information systems by promoting joint information use among many public agencies, enhancing the operating systems and the expertise of IS staff and applying the optimal information security systems. This study focuses on presenting the framework to effectively integrate omputing resources and proposing the ways of constructing and operating the integrated computing environment for the institutions and the affiliated groups under the Ministry of Culture & Tourism which are in charge of implementing cultural informatization. The main implications of this study are 1) building the ideal model of the integrated computing environment architecture suitable to cultural informatization area, 2) showing the criteria of deciding whether the organizations use the Integrated computing environment or not and how extensively they commit their computing resources to it, and 3) suggesting the ways of the phased integration and the change management to minimize confusion in the process of adopting the integrated computing environment and behavioral problems such as conflict and resistance of IS-related Personnel Influenced by Implementing the integrated computing environment.
