  • This paper proposes service layout strategy considering service characteristics by the use of benchmarking production system such as layout by P-Q chart, improvement tool, automated system, Toyota production system and lean production system. This paper represents operation methodology of statistical process control using control chart for service performance outcomes.

  • Gun system operation is represented as a first-order Markov process, and an optimum linear filter is derived for closed-loop control of mean square error. Potential improvement is then estimated by contrasting the variance in performance and the auto correlation for open-loop system with that for the optimum linearly corrected process.

  • As will be seen, this paper is tries that the research on the mathematical structure of Markov process and Markovian sequential decision process (the policy improvement iteration method,) moreover, that it analyze the logic and the characteristic of behavior of mathematical model of Markov process. Therefore firstly, it classify, on research of mathematical structure of Markov process, the forward equation and backward equation of Chapman-kolmogorov equation and of kolmogorov differential equation, and then have survey on logic of equation systems or on the question of uniqueness and existence of solution of the equation. Secondly, it classify, at the Markovian sequential decision process, the case of discrete time parameter and the continuous time parameter, and then it explore the logic system of characteristic of the behavior, the value determination operation and the policy improvement routine.

  • An important factor in determining the design and treatment efficiency of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) is the quantity and quality of influent. These detailed and accurate information is essential for process control, diagnosis and operation, as well as the basis in designing the plant, selecting the process and determining the optimal capacity of each bioreactor. Probabilistic models are used to predict the wastewater quantity and quality of WWTPs, which are widely used to improve the design and operation of WWTPs. In this study, the optimal probability distribution of time series influent data was derived for predicting water quantity and quality, and wastewater influent data were generated using the Monte Carlo simulation analysis. In addition, we estimated various alternatives for the improvement of bioreactor operations based on present operation condition using the generated influent data and activated sludge model, and suggested the alternative that can operate the most effectively. Thus, the influent quantity and quality are highly correlated with the actual operation data, so that the actual WWTPs influent characteristics were well reproduced. Using this will improve the operating conditions of WWTPs, and a proposed improvement plan for the current TMS (Tele Monitoring System) effluent quality standards can be made.

  • Evolutionary operation is a useful tool for improving full-scale manufacturing process by systematically changing the levels of the process variables without jeopardizing the product. This paper presents a system design for the evolutionary operation software called 'evolutionary optimizer'. Evolutionary optimizer consists of four modules: factorial design, many variables, mixture, and mean/dispersion. Context diagram, data flow diagram and entity-relationship modelling are used to systematically design the evolutionary optimizer system.

  • We apply Taguchi method to the process optimization problem of chemical reaction process, and some case studies are done to find out the way for cost reduction and quality improvement The parameter and tolerance designs of Taguchi mettled are done with operation data of a chemical process and we propose a procedure how to use and analyze the operation data to find the optimal process conditions and tolerance limits. In order to use the continuous values in experiment conditions, it is suggested how to determine the interval of each level by discrete values and to treat any missing values caused from discrete 4 levels.

  • For the sustainable development, companies are making a lot of efforts such as activities of sales increase and cost reduction. Among these, efforts to use limited resources efficiently and effectively is still being made steadily. And many methods for management innovation are being introduced and used. However there were partial or temporary effects only. So there are not enough to achieve operations performance to cover the entire system. Therefore, in order to maximize performance or to improve sustainability across the companies, it is necessary to rebuild the existing system with process perspective not with existing functional perspective. This study was performed to achieve the objective that is operation performance improvement of certification body. So literature review was researched and analyed about the process innovation and the process approach. And basic model which is compatible with ISO/IEC 17021 requirement for the certification body was established in this study. Based on this model, one of the certification body was selected and operation system for this organization was established, documented and implemented through the process approach method. In the result, operations performance of certification body on the side of efficiency and effectiveness is analyzed and the effect of reconstruction of system on operations performance was figured out

국내 하수처리장 관리대행 현황 및 제도 개선 방안 (The Investigation and Improvement plan of Contracting-out municipal wastewater treatment plant system in Korea)

  • 하수처리장 운영 시장 규모는 전세계적으로 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 이에 하수처리장 관리 대행 제도는 국내 하수처리장의 효율적인 운영을 위해 도입되었지만 지속적으로 개선의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 하수처리장 관리 제도의 활성화를 위해 현행 하수처리장 운영비용 현황 조사 및 개선 방안을 연구하였다. 하수처리장 용량이 클수록 하수처리단가가 감소하는 하는 경향을 보였다. 전체 하수처리장 운영 단가는 공기업이 가장 저렴하였지만, 유사 하수 처리장(유사 용량, 유사 공법, 유사 운영 기간)의 운영비용을 비교하였을 경우 민간 기업이 가장 저렴한 것으로 나타났다. 하수처리장 관리 및 운영 관계자들과의 면담 조사 결과 관리대행업자 선정 및 운영 비용 산정 방법 개선이 필요하다는 의견이 제시되었다. 본 연구는 하수처리장 관리 대행 활성화를 위한 방안 제시를 위한 기초 자료로 활용 될 수 있을 것으로 판단한다.

데이터 마이닝 기반의 6 시그마 방법론 : 철강산업 적용사례 (A Six Sigma Methodology Using Data Mining : A Case Study of "P" Steel Manufacturing Company)

  • Recently, six sigma has been widely adopted in a variety of industries as a disciplined, data-driven problem solving approach or methodology supported by a handful of powerful statistical tools in order to reduce variation through continuous process improvement. Also, data mining has been widely used to discover unknown knowledge from a large volume of data using various modeling techniques such as neural network, decision tree, regression analysis, etc. This paper proposes a six sigma methodology based on data mining for effectively and efficiently processing massive data in driving six sigma projects. The proposed methodology is applied in the hot stove system which is a major energy-consuming process in a "P" steel company for improvement of heat efficiency through reduction of energy consumption. The results show optimal operation conditions and reduction of the hot stove energy cost by 15%.
