In this paper, throughput of IEEE 802.11 carrier-sense multiple access (CSMA) with collision-avoidance (CA) protocols in non-saturated traffic conditions is presented taking into account the impact of imperfect channel sensing. The imperfect channel sensing includes both missed-detection and false alarm and their impact on the utilization of IEEE 802.11 analyzed and expressed as a closed form. To include the imperfect channel sensing at the physical layer, we modified the state transition probabilities of well-known two state Markov process model. Simulation results closely match the theoretical expressions confirming the effectiveness of the proposed model. Based on both theoretical and simulated results, the choice of the best probability detection while maintaining probability of false alarm is less than 0.5 is a key factor for maximizing utilization of IEEE 802.11.

Recently, a mutual interference threat has been increasing among the radar systems due to the rapid growth of the military radar operation. In this paper, the radar interference protection criteria is presented for interoperability in terms of the radar coverage and target detection probability in association with the international recommendation on the interference spectrum by ITU-R. The required criteria for the minimum allowable interference is also presented in terms of INR. In order to ensure the maximum detection probability of the radar under the mutual interference situation, only 5 % of detection range loss is allowed for the case of INR of -6 dB, and required SNR is presented at each INR in terms of the detection range and detection probability. This result will be useful for establishing the interference protection criteria in the combined military radar systems.

The FMCW(Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) radar possesses range-velocity ambiguity to identify the correct combination of beat frequencies for each target in the multi-target situation. It can lead to ghost targets and missing targets, and it can reduce the detection probability. In this pap er, we propose an effective identification algorithm for the correct pairs of beat frequencies and the signal processing hardware architecture to effectively support the algorithm. First, using the correlation of the detected up- and down-beat frequencies and Doppler frequencies, the possible combinations are determined. Then, final pairing algorithm is completed with the power spectrum density of the correlated up- and down-beat frequencies. The proposed hardware processor has the basic architecture consisting of beat-frequency registers, pairing table memory, and decision unit. This method will be useful to improve the radar detection probability and reduce the false alarm rate.

This paper presents a threshold decision technique for direct sequence code acquistion employing Pseudo-Noise(PN) matched filter. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are derived as a measure of the system performance in both nonfading and nonselective Rician fading channels. For received PN codes with different SNR, the proposed acquisition scheme is able to detect a desired threshold in the search mode so that this value is utilized as a threshold for the verification mode. Thus, there is no need to determine a threshold by applying the Neyman-Person ciriteron. It is shown that this scheme achieves lower probability of false alarm than the acquisition scheme based on the Neyman-Person criterion, giving comparable performance in terms of the probability of detection.

This paper presents an advanced estimation method for obtaining the probability density functions of a damage parameter for valve leakage detection in a reciprocating pump. The estimation method is based on a comparison of model data which are simulated by using a mathematical model, and experimental data which are measured on the inside and outside of the reciprocating pump in operation. The mathematical model, which is simplified and extended on the basis of previous models, describes not only the normal state of the pump, but also its abnormal state caused by valve leakage. The pressure in the cylinder is expressed as a function of the crankshaft angle, and an additional volume flow rate due to the valve leakage is quantified by a damage parameter in the mathematical model. The change in the cylinder pressure profiles due to the suction valve leakage is noticeable in the compression and expansion modes of the pump. The damage parameter value over 300 cycles is calculated in two ways, considering advance or delay in the opening and closing angles of the discharge valves. The probability density functions of the damage parameter are compared for diagnosis and prognosis on the basis of the probabilistic features of valve leakage.

Code-reuse attacks are very dangerous in various systems. This is because they do not inject malicious codes into target systems, but reuse the instruction sequences in executable files or libraries of target systems. Moreover, code-reuse attacks could be more harmful to IoT systems in the sense that it may not be easy to devise efficient and effective mechanism for code-reuse attack detection in resource-restricted IoT devices. In this paper, we propose a detection scheme with using Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence to combat against code-reuse attacks in IoT. Specifically, we detect code-reuse attacks by calculating KL divergence between the probability distributions of the packets that generate from IoT devices and contain code region addresses in memory system and the probability distributions of the packets that come to IoT devices and contain code region addresses in memory system, checking if the computed KL divergence is abnormal.

Cognitive radio (CR) has been recently proposed to dynamically access unused-spectrum. Since the spectrum availability for opportunistic access is determined by spectrum sensing, sensing control is identified as one of the most crucial issues of cognitive radio networks. Out-of-band sensing to find an available channels to sense. Sensing is also required in case of spectrum hand-off. Sensing process needs to be done very fast in order to enhance the quality of service (QoS) of the CR nodes, and transmission not to be cut for longer time. During the sensing, the PU(primary user) detection probability condition should be satisfied. We adopt a channel prediction method to find target channels. Proposed prediction method combines chaotic global method and chaotic local method for channel idle probability prediction. Global method focus on channel history information length and order number of prediction model. Local method focus on local prediction trend. Through making simulation, Proposed method can find an available channel with very high probability, total sensing time is minimized, detection probability of PU's are satisfied.

CR(Cognitive Radio) technology is maximized frequency reuse using unused frequency band. Conventional cooperative spectrum sensing has fixed false alarms. so all cooperative user has equal threshold. This problem is caused degradation of detection probability. so we propose and analysis the system model that false alarm differential setting through CSI(channel state information) for resonable threshold. Simulation results show improvement of detection probability.
In this paper. we propose receiver algorithms for VHF(Very High Frequency) digital link mode-2(VDL Mode-2) systems. Unlike conventional digital communication systems using the root raised cosine filter as a transmit and receive filter, raised cosine filter is used as a transmit filter in VDL Mode-2 systems. Hence, it is crucial to design and implement the optimum lowpass receive filter by considering the amount of inter-symbol interference and noise performance. On the other hand, due to the short preamble pattern, it is crucial to develop an efficient packet detection algorithm for reliable communication link. In this paper, we design the optimum receive filter and packet detection algorithm and evaluate the performance of receiver adopting the proposed receive filter and packet detection algorithm.

In this paper, we propose a traffic accident detection on vehicle-mounted camera. In the proposed method, the minimum bounding box coordinates the central coordinates on the bird's eye view and motion vectors of each vehicle object, and ego-motions of the vehicle equipped with dash-cam are extracted from the dash-cam video. By using extracted 4 kinds features as the input of Bi-LSTM (bidirectional LSTM), the accident probability (score) is predicted. To investigate the effect of each input feature on the probability of an accident, we analyze the performance of the detection the case of using a single feature input and the case of using a combination of features as input, respectively. And in these two cases, different detection models are defined and used. Bi-LSTM is used as a cascade, especially when a combination of the features is used as input. The proposed method shows 76.1% precision and 75.6% recall, which is superior to our previous work.
