  • In an information society, privacy protection is one of the most important ethical issues. In medical institutes in which personal medical information is collected and stored, in addition, a privacy breach can cause a serious damage on personal lives. This study attempted to develop privacy concern measurement tool in personal medical information to measure patients' concern on their medical information from medical service consumers' perspective and verify its validity. For this, privacy concern measurement tool in personal medical information was developed based on the results of previous studies. After performing Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA) on the measurement tool, its reliability and validity were verified. It appears that the measurement tool would be useful in developing decent privacy protection policy after investigating citizens' concern on the protection of personal medical information and domains they are interested in. For medical institutes as well, they would be helpful in coming up with a reasonable plan after figuring out problems in the protection of personal medical information and current status.

  • Recently, with the development of deep learning technology, research on recognizing human behavior is in progress. In this paper, a study was conducted to recognize risky behaviors that may occur in a single-person household environment using deep learning technology. Due to the nature of single-person households, personal privacy protection is necessary. In this paper, we recognize human dangerous behavior in privacy protection video with Gaussian blur filters for privacy protection of individuals. The dangerous behavior recognition method uses the YOLOv5 model to detect and preprocess human object from video, and then uses it as an input value for the behavior recognition model to recognize dangerous behavior. The experiments used ResNet3D, I3D, and SlowFast models, and the experimental results show that the SlowFast model achieved the highest accuracy of 95.7% in privacy-protected video. Through this, it is possible to recognize human dangerous behavior in a single-person household environment while protecting individual privacy.

  • Since the Korean privacy policy was legalized in 2011, the related academical researches have been lasted in various fields. Upcoming so-called 3 data laws would be implemented, it is meaningful to review privacy policy studies for exploring future research direction. For this purpose, the total of 146 journals from 2011 to 2019 were reviewed by the content analysis following as research subjects, methodologies and constructions of studies. As results, the numbers of the researches have been conducted on protection policies themselves for improvement, comparing with other countries' policies and also digital finance information protection were deeply discussed. Some of technology based protection applications were experimented and suggested. The major research characteristics was mainly focused on case analysis and criminal laws and policies were developed as protection contingencies. However, most research objects were focused on the protection regulations, not deregulation, therefore, researchers in future study need to explore more digital industry-centric tasks which are practically applied in safer ways. Further, social agreement in using private information will be an essential to prevent indiscriminate use.

  • The GDPR implemented since 25 May 2018 is common to all EU Member States and is legally binding. It is also important and legally valuable in that it takes into account the latest trends related to privacy protection. The purpose of this study is to propose a comprehensive review and improvement direction of the personal information protection laws in South Korea through a comparative analysis of EU GDPR and privacy related laws in South Korea. As a result of this study, the differences between the GDPR and privacy related laws in South Korea are Definition of personal sensitive information, Right to data portability, Data protection officer, Transfers of personal data to third countries, Supervisory authority, and Punishment, etc. The differences in these regulations were necessary to protect the rights and interests of data subjects and to properly handle personal information of personal information controllers. Therefore, based on the results of the comparative analysis of this study and suggestions on improvement direction of the law related to personal information protection, it is expected that it will contribute to the overall inspection and improvement of the law related to personal information protection in South Korea.

  • In this paper, we propose the TPS (TPM-enhanced Privacy Protection System) which is an automated privacy protection system enhanced with a TPM (Trusted Platform Module). The TPS detects documents including personal information by periodic scanning the disk of clients at regular intervals and encrypts them. Hence, system manages the encrypted documents in the server. In particular, the security of TPS was greatly enhanced by limiting the access of documents including the personal information with regard to the client in an abnormal state through the TPM-based platform verification mechanism of the client system. In addition, we proposed and implemented a VTF (Virtual Trusted File) interface to provide users with the almost identical user interface as general document access even though documents containing personal information are encrypted and stored on the remote server. Consequently, the TPS automates the compliance of the personal information protection acts without additional users' interventions.

  • With the wide deployment of biometric authentication systems, several issues pertaining security and privacy of the biometric template have gained great attention from the research community. To resolve these issues, a number of biometric template protection methods have been proposed. However, the design of a template protection method to satisfy four criteria, namely diversity, revocability and non-invertibility is still a challenging task, especially performance degradation when template protection method is employed. In this paper, we propose a novel method to generate a revocable minutiae-based fingerprint template. The proposed method consists of feature extraction from fingerprint minutiae pairs, quantization, histogram binning, binarization and eventually binary bit-string generation. The contributions of our method are two fold: alignment-free and good performance. Various experiments on FVC2004 DB1 demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • The technical definition of Blockchain is commonly known 'distributed ledger', however, there is no legal definition for being accepted in worldwide. Therefore, unless legal definitions and concepts of Blockchain are presented, there is a possibility that various legal disputes will occur in the future in Blockchain environment. The purpose of this study is to derive legal issues related to personal information protection that can be conflicted in Blockchain environment based on domestic Privacy Act and GDPR. The outcomes of this study can prevent various legal disputes and provide solutions that may occur due to the spread of Blockchain. It also suggests the foundation for the improvement of Privacy Act. Finally, it contributes to activate of Blockchain, industry, in Korea.

  • We live in so called information society. The more the technology develops the move the impersonalization deepens and the privacy diminishes. Information society has many privercy, if dehumanization and information inequality. Most receuty, according to the development of varies technology and increase of the use of Computers the more information about private life of individual is stoked and filed by each authority and public services, and if information is leaked by neglignace of these institation the privacy is fallen into the great dange, the law for the positive protection of privacy must be prepared as soon as possible. Therefore the establishment of the comcept of privacy right is established. The legal base of constitutional guarantee, the Relief out of the intringement of ligialative must be explained. These thesis is defined, legal foeks is established.

  • This research aims to empirically explore the antecedents that could impact on internet users' information protection behavior. 282 of sample data collected from internet users was used to test the hypotheses. The results of this research reveal that the internet users' information privacy concerns has a significant impact on self-efficacy, perceived usefulness, and information protection behavior. In addition, we found that perceived usefulness and information protection behavior are significantly influenced by self-efficacy. However, contrary to expectations, perceived usefulness has no statistically significant effect on information protection behavior. These findings provide significant implications for online companies and internet uses as well as educational stakeholders that give educations about information protection.
