Phase Matching of Pressure Wave in a Drop-On-Demand Inkjet Print Head (요구 적출형 잉크젯 프린트 헤드에서의 압력파 위상 정합)

  • Inkjet printing technology with a drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet head technology has been recognized as one of versatile and low cost manufacturing tools in the electronics industry. Concerned with control of driving signal, however, general strategy to optimize jetting stability has not been understood well, because of the inherent complex multi-physics nature in inkjet phenomena. Motivated by this, present study investigates the effect of driving waveforms of piezoelectric head on jetting characteristics of DOD inkjet system focused on jetting stability with phase matching of pressure waves in the print head. The results show that velocities and volumes of the ink jetted droplets were linear relations with the driving signal's maximum voltage, while periodic behaviors are observed with the driving signal's pulse widths.

A Case Study of Productivity Improvement in Filling a Print Cartridge with Toner (프린터 카트리지 충전생산라인의 생산성향상 사례연구)

  • In this paper, we deal with a problem improving the productivity of a discrete production line for filling a printer cartridge with toner. We develop a new technology for controlling the weight of toner which must be filled in a cartridge and reform the current line based on our new control technology to result in more than 35% improvement of productivity as well as the control accuracy. In detail, first, we find a bottleneck process, the toner-filling process which gives the current production cycle times. Second, we divide the processing time of the bottleneck into several work elements and find the rotation time of an AC servomotor to be further reduced. Third, in order to reduce the rotation time, we develop a mathematical control-time model for determining the rotation time. Finally, we reform the current line partially as required by the change of the new control method.

  • Inkjet technology is one of the commonly used technologies in the printed-electronics field. The primary issue regarding the usage of inkjet technology as a printed-electronics tool is the printing resolution; therefore, to print complicated patterns of precise dimensions, we developed software that can convert a CAD file into a bitmap image. Moreover, as a bitmap image is not comprised of physical dimensions, its resolution needs to be defined in terms of pixel distance to print a rasterized bitmap image. In this study, we investigated the effects of pixel distance and dot size on printing resolution; based on the experiment results, we concluded that the printed dot size should be used to determine the optimal pixel distance. Lastly, we also propose inkjet printing procedures for bitmap images.

  • Drop-on-Demand (DOD) inkjet printing technology, especially piezo-typed, has been paid attention by industries due to its inherent nature of unbeatable material usage and low cost manufacturing cost. Despite of these key advantages over any other competing manufacturing technologies, the primary disadvantage has been considered as its limited capability to produce fine resolution patterns with a commercially available DOD inkjet print head. Although the main effort has been focused on the production of a DOD inkjet print head with smaller nozzles to overcome this challenging issue, an alternative approach could be taken and it would enable to expand the employment of DOD inkjet printing technology to applications requiring fine patterns further more.

  • New technologies will soon bring fundamental changes to the process of scientific communication. To understand the path that these changes may take in the future, we need to take a careful look at the past. By examining the history of scientific communication, we can see how new technologies can interact with changes in communication forms. By looking at the complex roles that journals have traditionally played, we can better understand how and when journals may incorporate these new technologies. From these models we can project that electronic journals must meet the basic needs that print journals do, that they will initially maintain many of the features of traditional print journals, that their transformation may be driven by external forces, and that they will be slow in reaching their full potential.

  • In case Wi-Fi network based First responder's position tracking system is used, range measurement must be generated from RSSI finger print database. However, it is impossible to build up finger print database and to perform rescue operation at same time in the scene of rescue. In this paper, improvised Wi-Fi network without finger print database and pedestrian dead reckoning based first responders tracking system is proposed.

  • Among the 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, evaluated bolus applicability through dose assesment according to the materials of 3D printing technology. Dose assesment was using MCNPX which was applied Monte Carlo method and 3D print materials were ABS, PC and PLA. Thus, the thickness with the same effect as the bolus 10 mm was found to be ABS 10 mm, PC 9 mm and PLA 9 mm for the 6 MeV electron. For 6 MV X-ray, ABS 11 mm, PC 10 mm and PLA 9 mm were shown. This study showed that tissue equivalent materials made from 3D printer materials can replace bolus.

Design of array typed inkjet head for line-printing (라인 프린팅을 위한 어레이 방식 잉크젯 헤드 설계)

  • Although line printing technology is capable of high-speed and large area printing, residual stresses generated during the manufacturing process can deform the feedhole, causing nozzle plate crack or ink leaks. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new thermal inkjet print head that is robust, reliable and more suitable for line-printing. The amount of deformation of the conventional line printing head measured through the experiment was converted into an equivalent load, and the validity of the load estimation method was verified through FEA analysis. In addition, in order to minimize deformation without increasing the head size, the head structure was designed to increase internal rigidity by reinforcing the unit nozzle with a pillar or support wall or by adding a support beam or dry/wet etched bridge. The FEA analysis results show that the feedhole deformation was reduced by up to 90%, and it is confirmed that the suggested print head with dry etched feedhole bridge operates normally without nozzle plate cracks and ink leakage through fabrication.

  • Lately, variety of algorithms using encryption technology has been adopted as methods of unlocking smartphone. It is advancing toward the direction to solve through human biometrics technology which has already succeeded in commercialization. These include finger print recognition, face recognition, and iris recognition. In this study, we selected biometrics recognition technology and pattern recognition and password input methods which are already commercialized as evaluation items. The evaluation items are five algorithms including finger print recognition, face recognition iris recognition, pattern recognition and password input method. Based on these algorithms, analytic hierarchy process is used to analyze the preference of smartphone users. Also, the theoretical implications are presented based on the analysis results.

  • For as to world, the concern about the environment problem is enhanced than any other time in the past because of being 21 century. And the environment problem is highlighted as the world-wide issue. The time of the environment problem intimidates the alive of the mankind and presence of an earth over the time. It becomes the essentiality not being selection in the personal living or the economical viewpoint now to prepare for the climatic modification. As to the company management, the green growth period which it excludes the environment management considering an environment, cannot carry on the company the continued management comes. That is, in the change center of the management paradigm, there is the environment management. Nearly, the greenhouse gas which the publication industry is the environmental toxic material like all industries is generated. The greenhouse gas is ejected in the process of running the manufacturing process and print shop of the various kinds material used as the raw material of the book. Particularly, the tree felling for getting the material of the paper is known to reach the direct influence on the global warming. This study does according to an object it considers and organizes the environment parameter based on this kind of fact as to the publication industry. And it is determined as the reference which is used as the basic materials preparing the case that carbon exhaust right transaction(CAP and TRADE) drawing are enforced in all industries and is sustainable the management of the publication industry and reduces the environmental risk among the company many risk management elements and plans and enforces the publication related policy that there is a value. In the printing publication industry, this study tried to inquire into elements discharging the environmental pollutant or the greenhouse gas. Additionally, in the printed publication production process, it tried to inquire into the effort for an environment-friendly and necessity at the printing paper and the printers ink, regarded as the element discharging the greenhouse gas all kinds of the printing materials, operation of the print shop and all kinds of the machines and recycle process, and etc. These considerations make these industrial field employees aware of the significance about a conservation and environmental protection. They try to give a help in the subsequent study producing quantitatively each environmental parameter emission of green house gas. This makes the calculation of the relative $CO_2$ output reproached ultimately possible. Meanwhile, in a sense, many research protects and improving an environment in connection with the contents of research at the printing publication industrial field is in progress. There will be the voluntary human face that it has to protect an environment but this can not do by the outside factor according to all kinds of environment related law and regulation. Anyway, because of acting on company management as the factor of oppression, the increase of this environment-related correspondence cost could know that the research that the environment loading relates with a procurement and development, environment management system introduction, quality control standard, including, normalizing including a material, and etc. through the part of the effort to reduce the cost low was actively in progress. As to the green growth era, as follows, this paper prescribed the subject and alternative of the print publication industry. It is surrounded by the firstly new digital environment and the generation of the subject. And secondly the printing industry is caused by the point of time when the green growth leaves by the topic which is largest in the global industry and it increases. The printing publication industry has to prepare the bridgehead for the environment-friendly green growth as the alternative for this resolution with first. The support blown in each industry becomes the obligation not being selection. Prestek in which the print publishing was exposed to spend many energies and which is known as the practice of the sustainable print publishing insisted that it mentioned importance of the green printing through the white pages in 2008 and a company had to be the green growth comprised through the environment-friendly activity. The core management for the sustainable printing publication industry presented from Presstack white pages is compacted to 4 words that it is a remove, reduce, recover, and recycle. Second, positively the digital printing(POD) system should be utilized. In the worldwide print out market, the digital printing area stops at the level of 10% or so but the change over and growth of the market of an analog-to-digital will increase rapidly in the future. In conclusion, print publishers have to grasp well the market flow in the situation where a digitalization cannot be generalized and a support cannot avoid. And it keeps pace with the flow of the digital age and the recognition about the effort for the development and environment problem have to be raised. Particularly, the active green strategy is employed for the active green strategy.
