UV light curve of 31 Cygni has been made from the IUE high dispersion specta. The depth of primary minimum of the light curve is 5.2 magnitudes because the B4 star's steep spectral gradient. The light curve has been analyzed by the method of Wilson and Devinney Differential Correction (WD). The radial velocities have been measured using the Mg II h lines. The spectroscopic elements have been determined by the method of WD. The change of the Mg II resonance doublet has been investigated based on the eight representative spectra taken at well distributed orbital phases.
Like conventional railways, improving running performance of vehicle in curve is more effective than improving maximum speed to reduce traveling time. But some vehicles have problems concerning running performance in cure because of insufficient study for our conventional railway characteristics. So, these problems brought about increasement of maintenance cost. This study was started to deliberate several plans to solve problems concerning running performance in curve. Some modifications of primary suspension and tests were carried out to improve curve negotiation. Here, we describe some results.
Primary function of a transition curve is to accomplish gradual transition from the straight to circular curve, so that curvature changes from zero to a finite value. The transition curve enhances the running safety and ride comfort of the vehicle in curve. There are a couple of transition curve such as clothoid, cubic parabola and cosinusoidal curve, etc. In this study, running behaviors of cubic parabola and cosinusoidal curve were investigated and compared by numerical analysis result using VAMPIRE program. Ride comforts for an individual transition curve were evaluated for each transition curve and running behavior and safety were also evaluated to compare the capacity of transition curves.
Product usability consists of many attributes such as learnability, efficiency, memorability, and so on. In particular, learnability is one of the most important attributes in product usability. Therefore, many people consider the primary criterion for a good user interface to be the degree to which it is easy to learn. Learnability represents the degree of how much can easily learn the usage of a product. It concerns the features of the interactive system that allow novice users to understand how to use it initially and then how to attain a maximal level of performance. In this study, we studied on the application of learning curve to evaluate product learnability. In order to validate the applicability, we carried out simple experiment using mobile phone. We got task completion times through the experiment and predicted the times using learning curve model. And then, we compared prediction times to task completion times. Finally, we identified that learning curve could apply to predict and compare product learnability.

During the restoration process of primary restorative transmission system, some over voltages may happen due to nonlinear interaction between unloaded transformers and transmission systems. These over voltages caused by harmonic resonance can be suppressed by inserting damping loads before energizing transformers. But it is very difficult to predict the occurrence possibility of harmonic resonance and complex simulation must be repeated to estimate the sufficient damping loads. This paper presents a damping loads prediction system to prevent harmonic resonance. Detailed analysis of the relationship between harmonic resonance and the amount of damping loads is discussed. The prediction system is developed using a curve fitting and a neural network based on this relationship. A curve fitting used a Gaussian function based on non-linear least square method and multi-layer back-propagation neural network is applied. The system is applied to primary restorative transmission lines in korean power system and the result showed satisfactory performance.
PURPOSES: Recently, many local governments have applied chicanes for traffic calming to ensure environment-friendly comfortable and safe roads. However, the geometry of a chicane is designed for speed reduction using a curved portion. This study aims to improve the road geometry conditions of chicanes for reducing carbon emissions and maintaining appropriate driving speeds by considering the relationship between road geometry and carbon emissions. METHODS: This study was conducted as follows. First, carbon emissions corresponding to changing acceleration of vehicles were studied. Second, vehicle acceleration caused by the relationship between the curve radius and the straight length was studied. Accordingly, desirable conditions of curve radius and length of the straight section for reducing carbon emissions were proposed. RESULTS: The existing literature on chicanes present the minimum value of stagger length and path angle in the primary variable condition. This study suggests the maximum values of the curve radius and length of straight section in the primary variable condition. Therefore, if a vehicle's speed at a chicane is 30 km/h, this study suggests a curve radius of up to 24 m. In addition, if the vehicle's speed is 24 km/h, this study suggests a length of straight section of up to 6.6 m. These are the geometric conditions for considering the control of acceleration to the vehicle's maximum speed. CONCLUSIONS: This paper proposes an application of geometric conditions to reduce carbon emissions and maintain appropriate speeds of vehicles through a combination of curve radius and length of straight section.

Cast austenitic stainless steel have been widely used for primary coolant piping in light water reactors. This material is subject to thermal embrittlement at reactor operating temperature. CF-8M and CF-8A cast austenitic stainless steel is used for several components, such as primary coolant piping, elbow, pump casing, and valve bodies in light water reactors. Thermal embrittlement results in spinodal decomposition of delta-ferrite leading to decreased fracture toughness. In this study, the specimens were prepared using an accelerated aging method. The measurement of ferrite content, Charpy impact test and J-R test were performed to verify the predicting equation for aged material properties. In case of above 25% ferrite content, predicted result of J-R curve might be non-conservative.
Background: Mitigation of primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC) is a significant issue in the nuclear industry. Advanced nickel-based alloys with lower susceptibility have been adopted, although they do not seem to be entirely immune from PWSCC during normal operation. With regard to structural integrity assessments of the relevant components, an accurate evaluation of crack growth rate (CGR) is important. Methods: For the present study, the extended finite element method was adopted from among diverse meshless methods because of its advantages in arbitrary crack analysis. A user-subroutine based on the strain rate damage model was developed and incorporated into the crack growth evaluation. Results: The proposed method was verified by using the well-known Alloy 600 material with a reference CGR curve. The analyzed CGR curve of the alternative Alloy 690 material was then newly estimated by applying the proven method over a practical range of stress intensity factors. Conclusion: Reliable CGR curves were obtained without complex environmental facilities or a high degree of experimental effort. The proposed method may be used to assess the PWSCC resistance of nuclear components subjected to high residual stresses such as those resulting from dissimilar metal welding parts.
Softening function is the primary input for modeling the fracture of concrete when the cohesive crack approach is used. In this paper, based on the laboratory data on notched beams, an inverse algorithm is proposed that can accurately find the softening curve of the concrete. This algorithm uses non-linear finite element analysis and the damage-plasticity model. It is based on the kinematics of the beam at the late stages of loading. The softening curve, obtained from the corresponding algorithm, has been compared to other softening curves in the literature. It was observed that in determining the behavior of concrete, the usage of the presented curve made accurate results in predicting the peak loads and the load-deflection curves of the beams with different concrete mixtures. In fact, the proposed algorithm leads to softening curves that can be used for modeling the tensile cracking of concrete precisely. Moreover, the advantage of this algorithm is the low number of iterations for converging to an appropriate answer.

The Cognitive radio (CR) is evolving technology for managing the spectrum bandwidth in wireless network. The security plays a vital role in wireless network where the secondary users are trying to access the primary user's bandwidth. During the allocation the any malicious user either he pretends to be primary user or secondary user to access the vital information's such as credentials, hacking the key, network jam, user overlapping etc. This research paper discusses on various types of attack and to prevent the attack in cognitive radio network. In this research, secondary users are identified by the primary user to access the primary network by the secondary users. The secondary users are given authorization to access the primary network. If any secondary user fails to provide the authorization, then that user will be treated as the malicious user. In this paper two approaches are suggested one by applying elliptic curve cryptography and the other method by using priority-based service access.
