  • In this paper, we propose a Bicycle sharing has grown popular around the cities in the world due to its convenience. However, the bicycle sharing system is not problem-free, and there remains many managerial problems to be solved. In this study, we analyzed pricing strategy of a bicycle sharing system by minimizing the number of bicycles relocated by trucks, the act of which incurs penalty. The objective function is constructed by applying mixed integer programming and is presented as a stochastic model by using Markov chain so that arrival and departure rates of bicycle stations can be utilized in the analysis. The efficiency of the presented model is verified upon the analysis of bicycle sharing data gathered in Daejeon in 2014.

  • The renewable energy system and the real-time pricing can provide the significant economic advantage for end-user of residential house. However, according to recent studies, high initial cost of renewable energy system such as photovoltaic (PV) system and lack of suitable load control methods adjusting electric power consumption in response to time-varying price are regarded as the major obstruction for introduction of renewable energy system and real-time pricing in residental household. In this paper, we propose automated optimal load control strategy which aim to achieve not only minimizing the electricity cost but also the increase in the utilization rates of PV generation power of residential PV house in real-time pricing environment. Simulation results show that our proposed optimal load control strategy leads to significant reduction in the electricity costs and increase in the utilization rates of power generated by PV system in comparison with the conventional PV house. Therefore, the proposed optimal load control strategy can provide more economic benefit to end-user.

  • This study empirically analyzed the relationship between the franchise pc game rooms selection behavior and revisit, recommendations. Select Properties from the franchise pc game rooms store is ease of access, computer specifications, pleasant environment, brand power and pricing strategy. Korean franchise industry is in spite of the short history of just over 30 years growing very fast. Especially pc game rooms store is 14,782 in 2012 years, pc game rooms store is operated by franchise form 10.6%, 87.9% operated by private, co-operation was confirmed at 1.5%. Conclusions are as follows. First, factors that significantly affect the degree of revisit has been identified as computer specifications, pleasant environment, brand power. Second, the recommendation is an important factor of the computer specifications, brand power, pricing strategy. Finally, franchise pc game rooms successful strategy has excellent computer's specifications, it needs a promotion strategy to attract pc game tournaments to be notified of brand power. We can also see that running is an important factor in a pleasant environment and a flexible pricing strategy.

  • Optimal pricing research in general has been focused on profit maximizing strategy under the given product life-time T. Here we have tried to study the effect of uncertain product life-time on dynamic optimal pricing strategy. In reality, the life-time of product is more likely to be uncertain and not known as well. In terms of approximating the model to the concerned reality, so-called model validity, it seems to be more desirable to consider the uncertainty of product life-time into the optimal pricing strategy model, For this purpose, we tried two different approaches. One is to consider diverse product life-time probability functions under fixed life-time T. In this case, we might have the same product life-time as the previous study, but the process could be different in the expectation of product's discontinuity. The other is that life-time itself is not determined and thus it is the situation in which we can only decide optimal price on incremental basis. The former is the situation in which although we got some strong guess on life-time of a certain product, the pattern of expected life-time probability could be different. The question is what could be optimal pricing strategies on such different product life-time situations. But since in the latter, we don't assume any idea on the life-time of product. proper optimal pricing could be derived only from the past prices and diffusion information. While the latter seems to be safer in the aspect of model assumption, the former could be more realistic because we might have more or less a prior knowledge on the product life-time itself.

  • Purpose: This study aims to uncover the mechanism of how initial fees are determined in the restaurant franchise business. Since the initial fees can be considered as a price of utilizing business models and operational knowledge of a certain franchise brand, it is critical to understand the fee decision-making process based on the strategic pricing theories. Therefore, this study investigates the influence of operational value on the determination of initial franchise fees grounded on a value-based pricing strategy. The Operational value is specifically categorized into profitability, growth, and stability of the franchise system. Research design, data, and methodology: The data used were collected through franchise disclosure documents and brand equity index provided by Korea Management Association Consulting. Data from 44 franchise restaurants during 2018 to 2021 are included in the sample. The panel dataset was analyzed by using generalized least squares estimation with R-Studio. Results: Profitability and stability positively influence initial franchise fees. However, growth did not influence initial franchise fees. Conclusions: The results of the study demonstrate that the operational value plays a critical role in determining the franchise fees. Specifically, franchisees recognize how much revenue a franchise system generates for them (i.e., profitability) and how stable the entire system is for operating business (i.e., stability) when they make purchasing decisions for franchise. The findings extend the pricing literature by applying pricing theories in the franchise fee context. Also, the study contributes to franchising and restaurant management literature by providing knowledge of how franchise fees are determined.

  • A flat-rate tariff for the high-speed Internet contributed to diffusion of the high-speed Internet in its infancy. But, according as the number of subscriber becomes over 9.20 million and the market arrives the maturity of market, the problems of flat-rate tariff begins appear and can be summarized as follows; as unfair payment, inefficience of resources distribution, and subsidy of tariff from light users to heavy users. Therefore, we need to find an efficient Internet pricing and then would like to find the implication about the pricing strategy by examining foreign cases that work usage-based pricing.

  • This paper examines the long-run social welfare maximization problems facing public utilities, which includes consideration of the cost of capital or other fixed costs of production, from which it derives optimal investment decisions in a reliability differentiated pricing based market. Reliability differentiated pricing policies lead to straightforward mathematical results on optimal investment decisions in generation and transmission expansion planning. This paper presents the mathematical conditions for optimal investment decisions.

  • A smart grid is a modernized electrical grid that uses information about the behaviors of suppliers and consumers in an automated fashion to improve the efficiency, reliability, economics, and sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity. In the operation of a smart grid, demand side management (DSM) plays an important role in allowing customers to make informed decisions regarding their energy consumption. In addition, it helps energy providers reduce peak load demand and reshapes the load profile. In this paper, we propose a new DSM scheduling scheme that makes use of the day-ahead pricing strategy. Based on the Rubinstein-Stahl bargaining model, our pricing strategy allows consumers to make informed decisions regarding their power consumption, while reducing the peak-to-average ratio. With a simulation study, it is demonstrated that the proposed scheme can increase the sustainability of a smart grid and reduce overall operational costs.

  • Smart grid (SG) technology is now elevating the conventional power grid system to one that functions more cooperatively, responsively, and economically. When applied in an SG the demand side management (DSM) technique can improve its reliability by dynamically changing electricity consumption or rescheduling it. In this paper, we propose a new SG scheduling scheme that uses the DSM technique. To achieve effective SG management, we adopt a mixed pricing strategy based on the Rubinstein-Stahl bargaining game and a repeated game model. The proposed game-based pricing strategy provides energy routing for effective energy sharing and allows consumers to make informed decisions regarding their power consumption. Our approach can encourage consumers to schedule their power consumption profiles independently while minimizing their payment and the peak-to-average ratio (PAR). Through a simulation study, it is demonstrated that the proposed scheme can obtain a better performance than other existing schemes in terms of power consumption, price, average payment, etc.
