The main focus of the study resides in antecedents of price acceptability. Levels of acceptable price may be related to the consumers' perception on reasonable or expected price. Price acceptability is known to have several psychological antecedents. One of the antecedents to price acceptability reported by prior researches is price-quality inference, a tendency to correlate high price to excellence in quality. In addition, price-conscious consumers are likely to show lower level of price acceptability level. Another well-known antecedent is sale proneness. Sales-prone consumers may relate price of apparel products to product quality information. Moreover, it was reported that involved consumers should be more concerned with the products to its price and thus should have higher levels of price acceptability. A conceptual model with price consciousness, sale proneness and product involvement as the exogenous variable, price-quality inference and price acceptability as the endogenous variable was developed for the empirical study. Measures of research variables were developed based on previous studies. Questionuaires from 298 respondents were analyzed for the study. The average age of respondents was 27. About 60% of the respondents were married and about 65% of them had college degrees. Empirical results supported all of the hypothesized relationships. Price consciousness had significant negative influence on price-quality inference and price acceptability. Sale proneness significantly influenced price-quality inference, while apparel involvement had significant impact on price-quality inference and price acceptability. Price-quality affected price acceptability significantly. This study generated a framework to help scholars understand antecedents of price acceptability of apparel products. Price has been shown to playa dual role in consumer's perceptions, either positively or negatively. Price consciousness played a negative role, and product involvement had a positive role in evoking higher level of price acceptability. This study also suggests additional source of positive, yet indirect role of price, sale proneness. This study also affirmed the importance of price-quality inference in arousing higher level of price acceptability.

The purpose of this study is to find out the difference of evaluation of product and service quality according to consumers' attitude toward price in internet clothing purchase. This study surveyed 400 male and female consumers in their 20s-30s for empirical analysis in August 2010 who have ever purchased clothing through internet shopping malls. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, ANOVA analysis, Duncan test and cluster analysis are carried out using SPSS for Windows 12.0. The results are as follows. First, consumers' attitude toward price dimensions in internet clothing purchase are found 6 factors of sales proneness, price-prestige, price-comparison, low price, utility value and pricequality. Second, based on the attitude toward price dimensions, consumers are categorized into utility value seeking, sales price seeking, multi-dimension price seeking, lack price consciousness, low price seeking group. Third, there are significant differences in product quality and service quality depending on attitude toward price-based consumer types. In particular, sales price seeking and multi-dimension price seeking groups have higher values on product and service quality than other groups. The results of this study will help internet fashion mall businesses to develop price strategy and manage product and service quality.
It is well known that consumer's quality perception is strongly affected by price. Higher priced products tend to be perceived to have better quality than lower priced products although the objective product quality is the same. However, it is less known the process through which quality perception is affected by price cues. The existing literature suggests three potential hypotheses (i.e., the selectiveprocessing hypothesis, the selective interpretation hypothesis, and the representativeness heuristic hypothesis) that explain the underlying processes of the price-induced quality perception. The current research tests among the three competing hypotheses and also examines the role of consumer knowledge as a moderating factor. An experiment was conducted to test the moderating role of the knowledge in the price-quality relationship and to investigate the underlying process. The results indicate that theinfluence of price on perceived quality differs between novices and experts. Expert consumers' quality perception is not significantly influenced by price and this finding is consistent with the extant literature. On the other hand, novice consumers' quality perception is affected by price and the tests on the underlying process support for the representativeness heuristic hypothesis. Novice consumers assess that a high-priced brand should have good product quality due to the belief that high (low) price brands represent better (worse) brand quality and such a representativeness heuristic occurs without involving selective attention or selective interpretation price-consistent information.

This study is designed to find out the effects of price on the consumers'perceived quality, value and purchase willingness of clothing in order to get the basic information that is needed in helping clothing manufacturer's strategy for merchandising promotion on price. This study was conducted by means of a questionnaire survey of university students in seoul. SAS program was used for analysis. The conclusions of this study as follow: first, with respect to the price level of clothing, consumers evaluate the perceived quality of high-price case higher than that of low-price case, and evaluate the perceived value and purchase willingness of low-price case higher than those of high-price case. Second, with respect to the brand name level of clothing, consumers evaluate the perceived quality, perceived value and purchase willingness of well-known brand case higher than those of unknown brand can. Third, the interaction between price and brand dosen't appear. Thus from this result we can know that price and brand have the same amount of effect in both single-quo case and multi-que case. Forth, with respect to the price and brand name level of clothing, there exist significant differences in perceived quality, perceived value, and brand name level. Fifth, in the study of the relationship between perceived quality and purchase willingness and the relationship between the perceived value and purchase willingness, perceived value has more effect on purchase willingness than perceived quality.

This study investigated the difference of reference price, preference and quality perception of high functional underwear according to innovation cues. High functional underwear was selected as a research stimulus due to its technological innovative characteristics. A total of 93 male university students participated as subjects and data were collected by simple random experimental design operationalized with three types of innovation stimulus cues. Two types of internal reference price perception-expected price and fair price, preference, and 9 items of product quality perception-8 functional properties and overall quality of stimulus were measured with a questionnaire. The result supported the difference of reference price and quality perception by product innovation cue. The higher cue level group perceived two types of reference price and the overall quality higher than the lower cue level group. The difference of the expected price and fair price, the influence of functional properties on overall quality, and relations of the variables were discussed in depth.
The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of service quality, perceived sacrifice, food price and image on value. A total of 273 questionnaires were completed. MANOVA, ANOVA, and ANCOVA were used to measure the main effects and mediating effects of service quality and perceived sacrifice on the relationships among price, image, and value. The main effects of price on service quality, perceived sacrifice, and value were statistically significant. The main effects of image on service quality and value were statistically significant. As expected, when price, service quality, and perceived sacrifice regressed on the value, they were statistically significant. Moreover, when image, service quality, and perceived sacrifice regressed on the value, they had statistically significant effects on value. The results demonstrated that service quality played a mediating role in the relationship between price and value.
Constructing attractive bundle offers depends on more than an understanding of the distribution of consumer preferences. Consumers are also sensitive to the framing of price information in a bundle offer. In classical economic theory, consumers' utility should not change as long as the total price paid stays same. However, even when total prices are identical, consumers' preferences toward a bundle product could be different depending on the format of price presentation and the locus of price discount. A weighted additive model predicts that the impact of a price discount on the overall evaluation of the bundle will be greater when the discount is assigned to the more important product in the bundle(Yadav 1995). Meanwhile, a reference dependent model asserts that it is better to assign a price discount to a tie-in component that has a negative valuation at its current offer price than to a focal product that has a positive valuation at its current offer price(Janiszewski and Cunha 2004). This paper has expanded previous research regarding price discount presentation format, investigating the reasons for mixed results of prior research and presenting new mechanisms for price discount framing effect. Prior research has hypothesized that bundling is used to sell a tie-in component with an offer price above the consumer's reference price plus a focal product of the same offer price with reference price(e.g., Janiszewski and Cunha 2004). However, this study suggests that bundling strategy can be used for increasing product's attractiveness through the synergy between components even when offer prices of bundle components are the same with reference prices. In this context, this study employed various realistic bundle sets with same price between offer price and reference price in the experiment. Hamilton and Srivastava(2008) demonstrated that when evaluating different partitions of the same total price, consumers prefer partitions in which the price of the high-benefit component is higher. This study determined that their mechanism can be applied to price discount presentation formats. This study hypothesized that price discount framing effect depends not on the negative perception of tie-in component with offer price above reference price but rather on the consumers' perceived consumption benefit in bundle product. This research also hypothesized that preference for low-benefit discount mechanism is that perceived consumption benefit reduces price sensitivity. Furthermore, this study investigated how consumers' concern for quality in a price discount--a factor not considered in previous research--influences price discount framing. Yadav(1995)'s experiment used only one magazine bundle of relatively low quality uncertainty and could not show the influence of perceived uncertainty of quality. This study assumed that as perceived uncertainty of quality increases, the price sensitivity mechanism for assigning the discount to low-benefit will increase. Further, this research investigated the moderating effect of uncertainty of quality in price discount framing. The results of the experiment showed that when evaluating different partitions of the same total price and the same amount of discounts, the partition that discounts in the price of low benefit component is preferred to the partition that decreases the price of high benefit component. This implies that price discount framing effect depends on the perceived consumption benefit. The results also demonstrated that consumers are more price sensitive to low benefit component and less price sensitive to high benefit component. Furthermore, the results showed that the influence of price discount presentation format on the evaluation of bundle product varies with the perceived uncertainty of quality in high consumption benefit. As perceived uncertainty of quality gradually increases, the preference for discounts in the price of low consumption benefit decreases. Besides, the results demonstrate that as perceived uncertainty of quality gradually increases, the effect of price sensitivity in consumption benefit also increases. This paper integrated prior research by using a new mechanism of perceived consumption benefit and moderating effect of perceived quality uncertainty, thus providing a clearer explanation for price discount framing effect.
The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of reference price, price rationale and price-quality inference of consumer on the evaluation of apparel quality. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response sheet. The stimuli were six print ads, which was manipulated by reference price and price rationale for a jacket of national brand. This study used a 2(reference price: offer and non offer)$\times$3(price rationale: non offer, stock disposal, sales promotion) $\times$2(price-quality inference of consumer: high and low level) between-subjects experiment. Subjects were 371 female university students. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA and t-test. The results were as follows. First, three apparel attributes were identified: sewing/fabrics and label by factor analysis. Second, the significant interaction effects of reference price, price rationale and price-quality inference of consumer were found on evaluating quality of sewing/fabrics and label of apparel. So, reference price effect differed to depending on type of price rationale and levels of price-quality inference. Third, the significant main effect of price-quality inference of consumer existed on evaluating construction quality of apparel.

Purpose: Although the price reduction policy is established for military supplies, it is more focused on general military items. Therefore, it is hard to apply the current price reduction policy directly to the major weapon system. The purpose of this study is to develop an evaluation model which generates appropriate outputs for price reduction of military supplies. Methods: To improve the current policy, we first analyze the relevant policies of price reduction of similar organizations. We gather the opinions of related organization through survey including DAPA, Logistics Command, DTaQ and Defense industry companies. Then, we develop a price reduction model based on the analytic hierarchical process(AHP) method to find out important factors for price reduction. Results: The results of AHP analysis show that the important factors when applying price reduction of military supplies. From the analysis, the proposed method effectively generates the amounts of price reduction for the nonconformance items. Conclusion: The results of this research will be used as guidelines to improve military supplies policy of price reduction.
The purpose of this study was to measure the effects of service quality mediating the linkage among food and beverage price, restaurant image and value. A total of 273 questionnaires were completed. MANOVA, ANOVA and ANCOVA were used to measure the mediating effect of service quality on the relationships among food and beverage price, restaurant image, and value. The effects of food and beverage price and restaurant image on service quality and value were statistically significant. As expected, when food and beverage price and service quality were regressed on the value, the service quality was significant and the effect of the food and beverage price was reduced. Moreover, when restaurant image and service quality were regressed on the value, the restaurant image and service quality had a significant effects on value. The results demonstrated that service quality played a mediating role in the relationship between food and beverage price and value, and between restaurant image and value.
