The Impact of Perceived Brand Globalness on Brand Attributes Evaluation: focusing on the Moderating Role of Thinking Style about Causality (소비자의 브랜드 글로벌성 인식이 브랜드 속성 평가에 미치는 영향: 인과관계에 대한 사고방식의 조절역할을 중심으로)

  • The study examined moderating role of thinking style about causality in the relationship between the perceived brand globalness(PBG) and the brand evaluation. Thinking style about causality is divided into interactionism and dispositionism. Individualism culture shows a tendency of thinking style about causality to dispositionism, and collectivist cultures shows a tendency for interactionism. We conducted a survey on Korean college students who represent collectivist cultures and foreign students from countries of individualistic culture and analyzed data through structural equation modeling. Analysis result showed that the higher the respondents perceived PBG, the higher they perceived brand quality, brand quality, and brand price. However, it showed that PBG has greater positive effects on perceived brand quality and perceived brand reputation among Korean students than students from individualistic cultures. On the other hand, the effects of PBG on perceived brand price did not show any significant difference between Korean students and students from individualist cultures. Thus, we can conclude that thinking style about causality plays a moderating role in the relationship between PBG and perceived brand quality and brand reputation, while it does not do so between PBG and perceived brand price.

  • Laver io one of the most necessary and seasonal items in Korean food from oldtimes. Laver is lagely eaten in dried form, and its supply depends entirely upon culture weeds. The history of laver culture in Korea about sixty or seventy years is older than in Japan. Significance of laver culture is divided into two aspects, one is food supply in the nation, and the other is export to other countries. Houses engaged in laver culture are about foully thousands, and laver production in 1972 is estimated as 1, 3 bitten sheets. (1 sheet is a dried laver of 20 cm sq, in the shape of paper) Especcially meaning of layer production is the concentration of labour input, and systematic management of labour. From around 1920, the method of laver culture was introduced by Japanese Imperialism for mono culture in shallow seas, and mass products of laver is provided to Japan market, DOMESTIC MARKET Fundamental consume function calculates at below, $D_{(68_71)}$=16354 $Y^{0.471}$ $P^{-1.0662}$ where D is total layer demand, Y income variable, P price variable. Import quantity and price of Korean laver products are restrained by three organizations, that is producer, distributor and consumer. This relationship calculated by regression equation shows that import is influenced only producer organization, at the sacrifice of consumer profit. For increase to export of laver products, we urgently require to open foreign trade of laver products for Japanese consumer, .and Japan has political responsibility to solve Korean laver structure. But with long run timeseries, as regards Japanese production and import quantity, importing function shows increasing trend as below, 250 million sheets <3, 947.1674+0.005 $L_{g}$ >) 600 million sheets where $L_{q}$ is relative production quantity of laver in Japan. Impact of a Brand Image Matching with the Advertising Model on Price Fairness Perceptions: Focus on Sports Advertising (브랜드 이미지와 광고모델의 일치성이 가격공정성 지각에 미치는 영향 : 스포츠 광고를 중심으로)

  • This study sets out to examine how a brand image that matches the advertising model has a positive impact on brand attitude and price fairness perceptions. We reviewed the constructs on the basis of previous studies and each of the concepts has been redefined. One such concept, "image congruence," refers to the harmony, fitness, and matching quality of images. For example, how well celebrity advertising model is matches the brand image shows image congruence. Results are summarized as follows: First, the congruence of brand image and sports advertising model has no significant impact on brand attitude certainty and persistence. Second, the individual's brand attitude certainty and brand attitude persistence has a positive impact on the perceptions of price fairness. Third, the congruence of brand image and sports advertising model has a positive impact on the perceptions of price fairness. The first and the third results suggest that the positive impact on the price fairness perceptions is temporary but it has insignificant effects on the formation of brand attitude causing ongoing purchases. In other words, in order to influence consumers' long-term confidence on the brand, improving the quality of products or services has to precede promotional strategies such as advertising. When an advertising model is inappropriate for the brand image, consumers perceive product price changes as a negative issue in the short term. However, in the long term, attitude formation such as consumers' repurchase intentions and word of mouth will be not affected. The second result suggests that an already existing positive brand attitude can contribute more positively to change the perceptions of price fairness. In particular, attitude persistence has greater influence than attitude certainty on the price fairness. It suggests that persistence issues such as the trading period and the frequency of transactions must be managed and controlled because they are more important than the certainty issues such as strength of belief or trust. For example, when a commercial model for expensive sporting goods matches up with the brand image, consumer feels less pressure on the price changes. However, it does not determine the consumer's repeated purchases or sustainable transactions and it also has no absolute impact on the brand trust. In other words, consumer brand attitude should be recognized and approached as a routine strategy in view of the result that it is of great value as a causal variable in the process of consumer decision-making.

Effects of Investors' Sentiment on Commodity Futures Prices (투자자 심리가 상품선물가격에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examines the relationship between sentiment of speculators and price movements in the futures markets of WTI crude oil, copper, and wheat during the period 2003~2014 using Granger causality tests. The results indicate that speculative positions overall has no predictive power for returns in each futures market. Rather, returns seem to have effects on speculators' sentiment especially during periods of both economic expansion and recovery. During a recession, meanwhile, changes of speculators' sentiment index in the WTI crude oil and copper markets provide predictive power for returns in a positive direction, suggesting that speculators' pessimistic sentiment aggravates declines in commodity prices. Since the effects of speculative positions on market prices are ambiguous, tight regulations on speculative trading are not advisable. In a bearish market, however, regulatory bodies should consider raising speculative position limits because large speculative short positions and (or) liquidation of index traders' long positions may lead steep price declines.

The Transmission of Foreign Disturbances into a Small Country (해외경제교란이 소국경제에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the transmission of domestic and foreign real and monetary disturbances into a small country with heavy imports of intermediate goods, and to analyze how the wage indexation in a small country affects the transmission of foreign disturbances into a small country. We consider the two countries, a small country and the rest of the world, two goods, and rational expectations world model under flexible exchange rate system with perfect capital mobility. We find out that foreign disturbances are transmitted into a small country through the price channel, the foreign output multiplier channel, and the nominal interest rate channel, and the foreign real balance channel. We have conducted an empirical investigation by using the Korean data for a small country and the U.S. data for a large country to see how real and monetary disturbances originating from the US affects the Korean economy with wage indexation.

The Influencing of Aging on Time Preference in Indonesia

  • Purpose: The influence of age on time preference is not identified in the usual cross-sectional analysis. This study aims to test whether age affects time preference after controlling for the effects of individual heterogeneity including cohort effects. Research design, data and methodology: Drawing on a nationally representative panel dataset of Indonesians, we estimate the effects of age on time preference after controlling for unobserved individual heterogeneity as well as potential cohort effects. We measure time preference exploiting information on two sets of multiple price lists: one for a one-year delay, and the other for a five-year delay. Results: When we controlled for time-invariant individual characteristics, including birth cohort effects in a fixed effects model, the older men and women were more patient in a linear fashion, particularly when the delay was longer. To highlight the importance of controlling for individual fixed effects, we repeated the specification without controlling for individual fixed effects in OLS or censored maximum likelihood regression; we found no relation between age and impatience in men or women and for a one or five-year delay. Conclusions: The older men and women are more patient, and time preferences are correlated with unobserved individual heterogeneity.

  • The results of advanced studies which handled the relationship between social norm and intention to use illegal download don't match exactly. This study determined that the reason why the results of advanced studies are confused is, that moderator variables play important roles. For this reason, this study planned to test for significance of moderators consisting of attitude to copyright law(A) and perceived price importance at time of purchase(B). To achieve this, the present study divide social norm into two norms(subjective norm and group norm) and set up hypotheses on the moderating effects of two variables(A, B) between these two norms and intention to use the illegal download. The results show that all but one hypotheses are accepted. The other moderating effect hypothesis which is consist of subjective norm and attitude toward copyright law is rejected. This means that the effect of group norm on intention to use illegal download is moderated by attitude to copyright law. Also, this result means the effects of group/subjective norm on intention to use illegal download is moderated by the perceived price importance at time of purchase.

  • This paper attempts to incorporate three important factors-perceptions, behavior and valuation-in analysing consumers' responses to health risks from environmental pollutants. Using a survey sample of 500 consumers in the Chonbuk province area, this paper empirically investigated determinants of risk perceptions from using tap water as drinking water. Most consumers were considerably concerned about health risks from drinking tap water. Moreover, those subjective concerns were not random, but were systematically related to individuals' demographic variables such as age, gender, and family size. Those subjective beliefs also influenced respondents' purchase intentions on safer water bottles, in response to a contingent behavior question of presenting two types of water bottles. The technical risk information provided in the survey had significant effects on purchase intentions only when it was interacted with respondents' actual averting practice. In addition, the sample selection effects were present by eliminating respondents who decided not to purchase either of two types of water bottles. The potential selection bias had impacts on the coefficients of the price difference variable, and subsequently the estimates of the price increments for health risk reductions.

  • When the margin between available capacity and demand is thin in a liberalized electricity market, prices rise steeply and system reliability is threatened. The principal response to these circumstances is often an assumption that price spikes and electricity shortages are the result of a failure to build sufficient new supplying facilities. It is, of course, often the case that additional investments in generation and network facilities would improve reliability, and such investments are often needed. But focusing on additional generation and transmission facilities for restoring balance to the grid overlooks the essential fact that reliability is a function of the relationship between supply and demand, imposing unnecessary costs on electric system. When the relationship is out of balance, the search for solutions must consider not only investments supply-side resources but also cost-effective demand-side resources such as accelerated load management, efficiency measures, and price-responsive load programs. Integrating demand resources into electricity markets can add enormous value to the electric system, widening the capacity margin, lowering costs and enhancing system reliability at the same time. This paper studies several challenges now facing electricity markets: demand-side management-especially, economic effects of demand response, potential reliability problems, market and system operation, CBP market improvements and so on. The paper concludes with a series of policy recommendations in five areas: (i) The Effects of efficient improvement to incorporate demand responses and demand-side resources into modem electricity markets, (ii) Fosteing price based demand response and (iii) improving incentive based demand response, (iv) strengthen demand response analysis and valuation, (v) integrating demand response into resource planning and adopting enabling technologies.

A Study on Information Spillover Effects from Nasdaq to Kosdaq and Jasdaq (나스닥시장의 코스닥 및 자스닥시장에 대한 정보이전효과에 관한 연구)

  • This study tests the hypothesis of market efficiency through the information spillover effects over price and volatility across countries by using open-to-close(daytime) returns and close-to-open(overnight) returns of NASDAQ, KOSDAQ and JASDAQ data from January 3, 1997 to December 21, 2000. Based on Granger-causality and time-varying AR(1)-GARCH(1, 1)-M models we document that the evidence of statistically significant conditional mean and volatility spillovers effects from the daytime returns and volatility of NASDAQ to the overnight returns and volatility of KOSDAQ is observed both before and after the IMF foreign currency crisis but not to the close-to-open return before the IMF foreign currency crisis. We can understand the information spillover effect from NASDAQ to KOSDAQ on the overnight rather than the daytime grows more significantly after the IMF foreign currency crisis. We also find the interactive information spillover effect between NASDAQ and JASDAQ both before and after the IMF financial crisis, in particular, to close-to-open return. In addition, the market efficiency between KOSDAQ and NASDAQ is on an increasing trend through IMF foreign currency crisis.
