UV curable pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) was made by blending the di-functional or hexa-functional urethane-acrylate oligomer with synthesized acrylic PSA. The change of adhesive property and removability were investigated at various oligomer contents under each oligomer. As the content of oligomer increased, the peel strength was increased before UV irradiation, but it was decreased after UV irradiation. Also, it was observed that the peel strength increased with decrease of storage modulus (G'), and that loss factor (tan ${\delta}$) of the adhesive material affected the adhesive properties and removability.

We report an ultraclean, cost-effective, and easily scalable method of transferring and patterning large-area graphene using pressure sensitive adhesive films (PSAFs) at room temperature. This simple transfer is enabled by the difference in wettability and adhesion energy of graphene with respect to PSAF and a target substrate. The PSAF transferred graphene is found to be free from residues, and shows excellent charge carrier mobility as high as ${\sim}17,700cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ with less doping compared to the graphene transferred by thermal release tape (TRT) or poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as well as good uniformity over large areas. In addition, the sheet resistance of graphene transferred by recycled PSAF does not change considerably up to 4 times, which would be advantageous for more cost-effective and environmentally friendly production of large-area graphene films for practical applications.
The effects of different formulation variables including pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), permeation enhancer, thickness of the matrix and loading amount of drug on the transdermal absorption of galantamine were investigated across the hairless mouse skin. The permeation profile of galantamine was different depending on the types of PSA, loading amount of drug, thickness of the matrix and type of enhancer used. Highest flux of galantamine was obtained from acrylic PSA but crystals were formed in the patch within 72 h. Among the PSAs screened, crystal formation was not observed only in the patches formulated in Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) matrix. Permeation rate increased linearly as the concentration of galantamine in SBS matrix increased from 2.5 to 15% w/w. Among the enhancers screened, Brij$^{(R)}$ 30 provided highest flux of galantamine. Matrix thickness of 80 ${\mu}m$ was optimum for maintaining adhesiveness as well as consistently delivering galantamine for longer period of time.
Because of recent requirement for environmentally-friendly adhesive, water and/or alkali soluble pressure sensitive adhesives are being developed and produced. Our research laboratory newly developed the test method for measuring the water and alkali solubility of the adhesives. Also, we made the test method published both in KS and ISO. In this research, the test of measuring the water and/or alkali solubility of the test adhesive samples as a function of time at various temperatures was carried out using the proposed test method. The results showed this proposed test method made stable output data for the change of solubility as a function of time in the proper range of temperature.
A Polymeric emulsifier was synthesized by solution polymerization with 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, n-butyl acrylate, and acrylic acid. A series of polymeric emulsifier have been used in the emulsion copolymerization of 2-ethylhexyl actryacrylate and n-butyl acrylate. The size of the synthesized latex particles was around 145 nm and its distribution was very narrow. Emulsion with polymeric emusifier showed no coagulum after 7 cycles of freeze-thaw test, while the emulsion with traditional emulsifier exhibited coagulum after 2 cycles. The adhesion tests showed that the initial tackiness and peel strength decreased as the molecular weight and acrylic acid content of polymeric emulsifier increased, whereas the holding power increased.
Dicyclopentadiene (DCPD)-based hydrocarbon resins are widely used as tackifiers in many applications. In particular, hydrogenated DCPD-based hydrocarbon resins are widely used in premium hot-melt-type adhesives such as hot melt adhesives (HMAs) and/or hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesives (HMPSAs), because are water-white in color and possess excellent stability to light and heat. This article discusses the adhesive performance of various hydrogenated DCPD resins when they are used as tackifiers in styrene-block-copolymer (SBC)-based HMPSAs. This article shows the correlation between the characteristics of tackifiers and the adhesive performance of SBC-based HMPSAs. The higher the softening point of the tackifier, the higher is the $T_g$, softening point, and crossover temperature of the PSAs. High aromatic H wt% content reduces the high-temperature resistance of PSAs, as suggested by the decrease in the crossover temperature and softening point of the PSAs.
The pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) were synthesized by soap-free emulsion polymerization of acrylic monomers such as butyl acrylate, 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate, and acrylic acid in the presence of starch as a protective colloid and copolymer. The peel strength and holding power of PSA were increased with starch contents due to the enhancement of gel content, But the initial tackiness of PSA was decreased with starch contents. The contact angle analysis of PSA indicated that the wettability was increased with starch contents owing to the increase of polarity by hydroxy group in starch. In the pH measurement of emulsion with time for biodegradability, the starch in the PSA accelerated the lowering of pH due to the formation of organic acids followed by decomposition of starch.

To increase peel strength, low temperature properties and flowability of pressure sensitive adhesives(PSA) used in a heat shrinkable sheet, these properties were evaluated by changing each components in type and content. In this study, Isobutylene-co-Isoprene Rubber (IIR) which has good wetherability was selected as a base polymer. Instead of rosin ester, petroleum resin was selected as a tackifier because of superior peel strength. By decreasing petroleum resin contents, flowability of PSA was decreased. High molecular weight of polybutene was better than low molecular weight for the peel strength of PSA. Large particle size of carbon black showed better properties than small one in peel strength and brittleness temperature. By adding calcium carbonate, the cost of compound was able to be reduced. But it must be used with carbon black.
To prepare acrylic type pressure-sensitive adhesive, quarter polymers were synthesized from butylacrylate (BA), 2-ethylhexylacrylate (2-EHA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (2-HEMA). The quarter polymer was identified by FT-IR. Molecular weight was measured by Gel Pearmeation Chromatograhy. Also, viscosity, solid content and peel strength were investigated. The peel strength was $160g_f/25mm$ when the volume ratio of feed monomer to solvent was 1.3:1 and the ratio was relevant to commercial usage. The pot life of adhesive was 30 s at the 50 m/min of heat treatment rate, and it indicated that the minimum drying time was 30 s. Not only weathering resistance keep up peel strength $160{\sim}180g_f/25mm$ after 1000 h, but also no residual remains.
In this study, a reactive emulsifier with vinyl groups was synthesized by using 3-butenoic acid and polyoxyethylene(20) stearyl ether. The synthesized reactive emulsifier was confirmed by FT-IR and $^1H-NMR$. In addition, the reactive emulsifier synthesized in the preparation of aqueous acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives was used and the properties of the respective pressure sensitive adhesives were compared to those of using commonly used nonionic emulsifiers. The solid content was measured in the range of 56.8~57.4%. In the case of the initial adhesion, the S20BA made with a reactive emulsifier was measured as $^{\sharp}13$. Peel strengths of the prepared adhesives were measured in the range of $0.66{\sim}1.05kg_f$ and the highest peel strength was observed for S20BA. As a result of the heat resistance test, S20BA showed the highest as $840^{\circ}C$. In order to evaluate the applicability of adhesives for skin, the pH value was measured as 7, neutral and also it was found to be non-irritation from primary skin irritation test results.
