The ultrastructure of freeze-substituted Malpighian tubule cells of German cockroach after rapid freezing was compared to that fixed with conventional chemical fixation. As results, freeze-substitution proved to be the superior technique revealing much more structural details of the tissue cells. Especially, all kinds of membrane structures including infoldings, microfilament, microtubules and ribosomes were best preserved in this material.

In comparative genome analyses, synteny blocks play important roles for finding ortholog genes, reconstructing phylogenetic tree and predicting genome rearrangement events. In this paper, we propose a novel method to search biologically plausible synteny blocks not only from the viewpoint of finding highly preserved regions but also from the viewpoint of analyzing genome rearrangements. We have applied the method to our experiments on four fungal organisms, and succeeded to obtain some biologically interesting results.

Diffuse esophageal spasm[DES] is a rare disease, and its surgical management is controversial. We experienced one case of diffuse esophageal spasm with a large epiphrenic diverticulum. We resected the diverticulum with right side approach and underwent extended esophageal myotomy from the apex of the chest to 3 cm above the diaphragm. And then we preserved the LES without antireflux procedure.

Remodeling of agricultural facilities can be defined as follows; it is received newly social needs which calamity is reduced, its function is improved, ecosystem is maintained, water-friendly space is preserved. By those remodeling, environment water and tour water with role as a place of rest and leisure sports, and so forth can be ensured. Therefore, on this study, we would propose the approach of the repair and enhancement of agricultural facilities which can reflect those social demands.

Medium components for maximum activity of NAD$^{+}$-dependent formate dehydrogenase (EC 1.2.1.2; FDH) were optimized with a methanol-assimilating yeast Hansenula sp. MS-364, preserved by our laboratory. The maximum activity of the enzyme was obtained when the strain was cultivated at 30$circ$C for 24 hours in a medium containing methanol 3%(v/v), yeast extract 0.8%(w/v), K$_{2}$HPO$_{4}$, 0.1%(w/v), KH$_{2}$PO$_{4}$ 0.1%(W/V), MgSO$_{4}$, 7H$_{2}$O 0.05%(w/v), and the pH of the culture broth was adjusted at 5.0.

We extend Jung's result about the relations among bi-closing, open and constant-to-one codes between general shift spaces to closing codes. We also show that any closing factor code ${\varphi}:X{\rightarrow}Y$ has a degree d, and it is proved that d is the minimal number of preimages of points in Y. Some other properties of closing codes are provided. Then, we show that any closing factor code is hyperbolic. This enables us to determine some shift spaces which preserved by closing codes.

The choice of threshold is an important in the compression algorithms. It plays a major role in the removal of coefficients which are not preserved the important features. In this paper two threshold method, hard threshold(HTH) and soft threshold(STH) are applied to the suggested wavelet based compression algorithm of power quality signal and compared the compression ratio and NMSE. The simulation results show that STH is bottom than HTH.

The effect of cryoprotectants and suspending solutions on the preservation of marine heterotophic bacteria was investigated. Six halotolerant and four halophilic bacterial isolates suspended in either distilled water or artificial seawater were preserved in glycerol and dimethylsulfoxide at -70$\^{C}$, respectively. After one year of preservation, the recovery rates on the appropriate agar plates were estimated. The survival rate was found to be dependent on the strain tested, regardless of the preservation conditions tested.

And in 221 B.C., bronze-figure was manufactured. 2. In history, acu-figure was manufactured in 1027, Song(宋) Dynasty at first to study medicine. 3. ChunSeong acu-figure etc. were remade but new acu-figure was not. 4. GunRuang acu-figure, etc new acu-figure made in Jin Dynasty. 5. ChimGuem acu-figure are preserved in Korea at now.

Ultra-fine hydroxyapatite powder were synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction at 10 atm, 3 hrs of Ca(OH)2 suspension with (NH4)2HPO4 solution, and were characterized sintering behavior. Sintered bodies of hydroxyapatite powders which synthesized by hydrothermal reaction method has less weight loss, less sintering shrinkage and superior mechanical property, and was more dense than sintered bodies of hydroxyapatite powder which synthesized by wet method. Sintered bodies were hydroxyapatite single phase. When soack in Ringer's solution for 2 weeks, hydroxyapatite powders preserved hydroxyapatite and sintered body absorbed trace of Ca2+ ion with soaked time.
