  • The present article reports the tracking characteristics of phenolic resin insulation material due to accelerated degradation. For assessing insulation degradation of the phenolic resin insulation material, experiment samples with equivalent years of 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 years were produced by conducting accelerated degradation experiments using Arrhenius equation. Subsequently, tracking experiments according to KS C IEC 60112 standard were conducted for the experiment samples that were previously subjected to accelerated degradation. According to the measured results for tracking characteristics of phenolic resin subjected to accelerated degradation, upon dropping of 0.1% ammonium chloride, the risks were shown to increase by 1.38 times for the equivalent life of 10 years; 1.45 times for 20 years; 1.62 times for 30 years; and 1.94 times for 40 years based on the equivalent life of 0 year. Upon dropping of 0.01% ammonium chloride, the risks were shown to increase by 1.39 times for the equivalent life of 10 years; 1.52 times for 20 years; 1.99 times for 30 years; and 5.30 times for 40 years. According to the experimental results, the tracking risk was shown to be higher for longer-duration insulation degradation due to aging. In particular, the risk was observed to be greatly increased in the case of the equivalent life of 40 years. Therefore, it is proposed that the occurrence possibility and the risk of electric fires could be minimized through institutional preparation of recommended replacement period by considering risks such as insulation degradation, etc. due to aging.

  • The aim of this study was to provide the way of activation plans of leisure activities for older people through the current status and problems in welfare center for the elderly in Korea. Various social phenomena and issues have been found to occur in rapidly social-structure changes and urban civilization. Especially, processing an aging society for no preparation is one of the broader question of our country. Developing the scientific and civilization lengthening our span of life is given more leisure time than past. Unfortunately, older people could not independently stand for in their leisure, if society does not support for them. It means that they might feel the enough time to monotone life, depression and a sense of alienation. The following ideas would be expressed to the way of activation plans of elderly leisure. First, the elderly leisure facilities for leisure and publicity activities should be supplemented or strengthened. Second simple entertainment-oriented programs in the physical and psychology learning to adapt for them should be obtained through leisure activities for older people. Third, more senior recreation specialists or therapists should be educated for leisure activities. Fourth, the concept of leisure in older people's idea should be changed through the education. Fifth, people who work in the welfare center for the elderly should develop the leisure programs or activities for older people. Last the new culture of leisure concept should be constructed in our society between the two and three generation for sharing and participating the leisure.

  • This study analyzed the aspect of occupational contents shown in total 24 types of Technology & Home Economics (1). (2) textbooks for middle school in accordance with the 2009 revised curriculum. Analyzing the type of occupation shown in textbooks based on the Korean Standard Classification of Occupations(hierarchical classification), the frequency(ratio), and the aspect of occupational contents in each unit of textbooks and each data type, this study provided basic data to be able to understand diverse aspects of occupational contents. In the results of study, in case of Technology & Home Economics textbooks for middle school, the large area of 'home life' presented occupational contents in the relatively high ratio than the 'world of technology' while the frequency(ratio) of occupational contents was very much different in each publisher, large area, and unit. The occupation name presented in textbooks provided very limited information in the level of 5.27% of occupations presented in the Korea Dictionary of Occupations. Especially, providing occupational information concentrated in professionals & relevant practiceans in the type of the Korean Standard Classification of Occupations(hierarchical classification), it was limited to provide opportunities to learn the diversity related to occupation. Based on such results of study, on top of introducing diverse occupational contents to make students cherish all the occupations, it would be also necessary to seek for institutional measures related to textbook development/career education, so that they could explore career by considering their aptitude and interest.

  • With the increase of elderly people, educators have begun designing experiences to prepare students to work with elderly group. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the knowledge and attitude of students majoring in food and nutrition for the elderly and their intentions to provide services for the elderly. The knowledge level of the students was in a medium range, and no relationship was found between knowledge and attitudes using Pearson correlation. The knowledge did not significantly differ across gender and academic level when compared using t-test and ANOVA, but knowledge level was significantly different based on residential experiences with elderly over 65 years of age (p < 0.05). Students had neutral attitudes toward working with elderly employees and working for elderly. Students had positive intentions to work with elderly employees, seek employment in an organization for elderly clients/customers, and seek opportunities for positive social interaction with the elderly. However, students do not have positive work preference with elderly employees. As a result of multiple regression analysis, it was found that knowledge was not a predictor of intentions to provide services to the elderly. However, attitudes toward working with elderly employees, attitudes toward elderly, residential experiences with elderly > 65 years have been predicted the intentions to work with elderly employees. Attitudes working with elderly employees and attitudes toward elderly influenced the intentions to work in the organizations to provide services to elderly. This study can be identified the need for additional didactic preparation and experiences to prepare students to work with elder aging population.

  • We should step forward from the cremation-centered funeral and consider the well-ending of the diseased from a welfare perspective. Therefore, it is necessary to re-highlight our funeral culture from a welfare perspective and to explore developmental policies in association with the well-ending of the deceased. This study aims to examine the changing history of funeral culture, to identify problems arising in the funeral culture of the Seoul Metropolitan City, and finally present policy and practice implications for funeral culture. We conducted the survey on awareness of funeral culture with recruiting 500 citizens in Seoul City. Well-ending culture is the process which secures human dignity until the last moment of the death and improves the quality of death culture. Systematic approach to well-ending culture will gain the objectives of qualitative improvement of the death. Therefore, the funeral culture paradigm should be shifted for the settlement of funeral culture applicable to aging society. Education for well-ending preparation will give a meaning of life for both the persons waiting for the death as well as the family members. We also should establish funeral facilities as culture welfare facilities where all the generations share.

  • This study explores institutions that provide comprehensive services to senior citizens, including welfare, healthcare, and housing support. These institutions can be defined as centers that offer continual care and carry out policies related to senior citizens. In such institutions, senior citizens have access to information about aging and senior services. First, this study reviewed prior research on senior comprehensive support institutions and their accessibility, and the data led to several findings about the needs of the senior citizens and the proper locations of senior comprehensive support institutions. And this study used surveys to gather information on senior citizens' perceptions of services at such institutions. The survey results indicated that the elderly agreed with the priorities of comprehensive support institutions, and that it would be more convenient to visit such institutions if there were more than one per Dong (administrative district of Seoul). In response to these results, the ideal radius of each administrative district in the metropolitan area of Korea was investigated. Finally, the study also discussed the adequacy of this distance in comparison to that of current institutions in Japan. Combining these results, the study concludes that comprehensive support institutions for the citizens should be created and suggests appropriate distances and locations of such institutions.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors influencing the housing satisfaction of the new middle-aged who returned to farming to derive the implications of real estate policies to resolve regional imbalances. Research design, data and methodology: As a result, this study used secondary data, housing survey data, and identified factors influencing housing satisfaction through multiple regression analysis as well as basic analysis such as exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, technical statistics analysis, and correlation analysis. Previous studies, in particular, mainly focused on aging, retirement, economic activity, and retirement preparation, but this study was able to derive predictive factors that can increase the persistence of living after returning to farming by analyzing housing satisfaction for the new middle-aged, and as a result, suggest implications for resolving regional imbalances. Results: As a result of the analysis, it was found that housing structure status had the greatest influence among the three factors of housing-related predictors: housing structure status, facility accessibility, and surrounding environment, suggesting that policy alternatives that can improve the quality of the housing structure itself should be prepared rather than facility accessibility and the surrounding environment. Conclusions: Based on these results, we discussed implications for improving the housing structure to increase the continuity of living for the new middle-aged after returning to farming, and presented follow-up research directions on the need for complementary research in addition to individual analysis of influencing factors, limitations of secondary data, and the lighting of research on the new middle-aged and other generations who did not return to farming.

  • ZrO2 powders stabilized with Y2O3 and CeO2 of various compositions were prepared by the coprecipitation of water-soluble ZrOCl2.8H2O, YCl3.6H2O and Ce(NO3)3.6H2O, and their compacts were pressurelessly sintered at 1400 and 150$0^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs in air. 2mol% Y2O3-ZrO3 showed the most superior strength (1003MPa) and microhardness (12.6GPa), while 10 mol%CeO2-ZrO2 had the hightest toughness (13.3 MPa.m1/2) after sintering at 140$0^{\circ}C$. The addition of Y2O3 into Y2O3-ZrO3 decreased mean grain size and increased strength and hardness but decrease toughness. On the other hand, the addition of CeO2 into Y2O3-ZrO2 enhanced the stability of tetragonal phase during low-temperature aging for a long time under hydrothermal atmosphere.
