Genetic Algorithms (GAs) are efficient methods for search and optimization problems. On the other hand, there are some problems associated with the premature convergence to local optima of the multimodal function, which has multi peaks. The problem is related to the lack of genetic diversity of the population to cover the search spaces sufficiently. A sharing and crowding method were introduced. This paper proposed strategies to improve the convergence speed and the convergence to the global optimum for solving the multimodal optimization function. These strategies included the random generated sub-population that were well-distributed and spread widely through search spaces. The results of the simulation verified the effects of the proposed method.

The recent studies indicated that the major sources of the failure in carrying out the programs of weapon systems development would be the unsatisfaction of the required key performance and also the use of premature technology. As such, to manage the risk during the weapon systems development, the use of the technical performance measurement (TPM) and the technology maturity assessment (TMA) turned out to be necessary. However, the TPM studied so far seems to cover the assessment of performance at the component level only, and thus is insufficient in considering the system integration effect. On the other hand, the system readiness level (SRL) method has been presented by reflecting the effect on system integration, but the system performance and maturity has not been considered. To overcome this, a measurement method is proposed in the paper by utilizing the combined system readiness level and achieved technical performance at the system level. This system performance measure can be useful in managing the risk in the weapon systems development.

Blood transfusion in the neonatal period remains a therapeutic act, that no one dares to consider it as perfectly innocuous and that it is advisable to make rare, considering its risks as well immunological as infectious. The present work is a retrospective study, conducted in neonatal intensive care unit, in the University Hospital MOHAMED VI, Marrakech, during the period from January 1st to December 31st, 2019. All newborns were included in this work, who received one or multiple transfusions of red blood cells (RBC). Our study covered 60 neonates with a total of birth: 794 neonates, with a prevalence of 7.55%, hospitalized for various indications (60% of newborns were at term, 31.7% premature and 8, 33% were post-mature. The majority of transfusion procedures were performed during the first week of life. This is explained by the frequency of haemolytic anemias by fœto-maternal incompatibility. The main indications for transfusion were haemolysis, anemic syndrome and haemorrhagic syndrome. The average number of transfusion episodes was 1.95 +/- 1.47 per patient. Newborns were polytransfused in 18.33% of cases. A single transfusion accident was found in our study. However, we did not observe a correlation between the maternal diseases, the state of the newborn, and the transfusional indication.

Purpose: Healthy and balanced meal is very important for the elderly to maintain the quality of life in community. Senior meal delivery system and congregate meal services have been played an important role to prevent premature institutionalization of the elderly. Food delivery system and lunch service spaces for the Korean elderly were mostly focused and limited on low-income family. The purpose of this study is to analyze community food services environments for the elderly in the UK, the U.S. and Japan for the possibility of applying those service spaces to Korean community. Methods: Lunch service spaces of these three countries were investigated by literature research and visiting of venues. Pilot study of the elderly meal services in Seoul was done for comparing environments and future research. Results: Lunch service spaces in three countries were mostly community based for accessibility and the types of management were various for the elderly to choose the most suitable services for them. The group dining spaces are usually small and designed to give de-institutional atmosphere. Implications: Food service environments for the elderly in Korea should develop more community based model of food delivery and congregate meal service spaces as well as more de-institutionalized design of those spaces.

Silicon-on-insulator(SOI) MOSFET with SiGe/Si heterostructure channel is an attractive device due to its potent use for relaxing several limits of CMOS scaling, as well as because of high electron and hole mobility and low power dissipation operation and compatibility with Si CMOS standard processing. SOI technology is known as a possible solution for the problems of premature drain breakdown, hot carrier effects, and threshold voltage roll-off issues in sub-deca nano-scale devices. For the forthcoming generations, the combination of SiGe heterostructures and SOI can be the optimum structure, so that we have developed SOI n-MOSFETs with SiGe/Si heterostructure channel grown by reduced pressure chemical vapor deposition. The SOI n-MOSFETs with a SiGe/Si heterostructure are presented and their DC characteristics are discussed in terms of device structure and fabrication technology.
Segregation in asphalt pavements occurs as a result of the non-uniform distribution of coarse and fine aggregates and causes premature distresses, such as cracking, raveling, and stripping. The effect of segregation on rutting, however, has not been clearly identified. Experimental and analytical work performed in this study indicates that rutting performance is affected by segregation of mixtures. However, the aggregate structure of mixtures appears to be a more critical factor that determines the rutting performance, rather than the level of segregation. Based on the field mixtures evaluated, an increase of coarse aggregate volume in an asphalt mixture is an important factor that results in good rutting performance. This effect holds true for mixtures with lower levels of air voids, but for mixtures with higher levels of air voids, the air voids effect becomes dominant, resulting in a reduction in rutting performance. An air void content of 10% appears to be a threshold that determines the rutting performance of Superpave mixtures. Once the air void content exceeds 10%, the rutting performance of Superpave mixtures decreases significantly, despite the coarse aggregate volume.
When the material strength and ductility of shear studs is sufficient to carry the interface shear force, the composite beam can behave safely without premature structural failure in the interface and without ultimate moment reduction. In this study, the influence of the deformation capacity of shear studs embedded in high-strength concrete on structural behavior and design condition of composite beam is analyzed using FEM. In the analysis, load type, degree of shear connection and arrangement of studs are considered as analysis parameters. According to analysis results, in the case of partial interaction, the deformation capacity of studs embedded in high-strength concrete should be considered together with material strength. Especially in the case of uniform arrangement of studs and uniformly distributed load, a minimum available degree of shear connection is restricted by the deformation capacity of studs. In this case, shear studs should be arranged in consideration of the distribution of shear force at the composite section.
In early August of 2011, following a prolonged period of cool and moist weather, several trees of boxelder maple (Acer negundo) planted in Mt. Soyo located in Dongducheon, Korea, were found to be heavily damaged by premature defoliation with zonate leaf spot symptoms. Numerous number of cone-shaped, white sporophores (conidia) were observed on lesions of the abaxial leaf surface. The morphological characteristics of conidia are of typical Cristulariella moricola, which was supported by analyzing sequences of internal transcribed spacer region of ribosomal DNA. Pathogenicity of the fungus was proved by artificial inoculation in the condition of relative humidity 100% and $18{\pm}2^{\circ}C$. This is the first report of the occurrence of zonate leaf spot caused by infection of C. moricola on A. negundo in Korea.

The purpose of this study was premature induction of lactation in the transgenic calf to confirm the expression of human lactoferrin gene in the milk as early as possible. We performed the induction of lactation in 6 normal 1-month old calves and 3 normal and 1 transgenic 5-month old calves. In order to induction of lactation, 1-month old calf was injected with estradiol benzoate (0.2 mg/kg), $17-{\beta}$ estradiol cypionate (0.1 mg/kg) and progesterone (0.25-0.5 mg/kg) in every other day by 21 days. After 10 days cessation of administration, dexamethasone (0.028 mg/kg) was injected intramuscularly, however, lactation was failed. In the 5-month old calves, estradiol benzoate (0.2 mg/kg) and progesterone (0.5 mg/kg) were injected individually every other day during 21 days. After 10 days cessation of administration, dexamethasone (0.1 mg/kg) was injected intramuscularly and milk was lactated in the next day. Lactation was successfully induced in the 5-month old normal and transgenic calves and we confirmed the lactoferrin gene in the milk of transgenic calf. In conclusion, confirmation of human lactoferrin gene expressed in the milk of the transgenic calf was possible in 20 months earlier than in normal condition.

The Senior-Loken syndrome was first described in 1961 as an oculo-renal disease consisting of familial juvenile nephronophthisis and Leber congenital amaurosis. It is a rare autosomal recessive disorder with a prevalence of 1:1,000,000 caused by mutations in nine genes (NPHP 1-8 and NPHP 10). Ocular manifestations (e.g., photophobia, nystagmus, and extreme hyperopia) occur within the first few years of life while renal manifestations (e.g., formation of multiple cysts impairing kidney function and end-stage renal disease) appear in late childhood to adolescence. Here, we report a case of a Filipino male presenting with rotatory nystagmus and progressive deterioration of vision since childhood. He had congenital amaurosis and juvenile nephronophthisis that progressed to end stage renal disease by age 19. All laboratory and imaging findings were consistent with chronic kidney disease. Molecular genetic testing of ciliopathy-related genes was performed revealing a homozygous mutation in exon 11 of the IQCB1/NPHP5 gene, c.1090C>T (p.Arg364⁎). This sequence change created a premature translational stop signal resulting in a truncated protein product, nephrocystin-5 and its consequent loss of function. His symptoms eventually improved with initiation dialysis. The prognosis of Senior-Loken syndrome remains dismal and a high index of suspicion, early diagnosis and timely intervention of renal complications are warranted.
