This study, with a view point to prevent accidents arising from steel structure, construction process, has taken an approach of reviewing related materials and construction safety guidelines, conducting questionnaire surveys and on field surveys. This study has also analyzed and classified accident cases and disclosed elements concerned with those accidents. A comparative analysis of the disclosed elements against the statutory provisions regarding industrial safety and it showed that strict observance of safety rules of the accident prevention measures in industrial safety standards will result in a decrease in accidents. It is concluded, however, that additional accident prevention measures, as suggested below, should be implemented for performing of more practical and positive accident prevention. 1) Thorough review and preparation at pre-working stage at sites : Such elements of fall preventing facilely as supporting ropes and steel fabrications for safety guard rails should be initially reflected on detailed drawings and shop drawings so that they can be installed in advance at fabricating plants. 2) Sets of steel frame stairs for work platform should be installed or secured with priority and temporary installation of such prefabricated platform as scaffolds should be installed in advance with those platform attached to the frame members on the ground whenever possible before they are lifted. 3) A decrease in the rate of accident by more than 10% on Tuesdays and Thursdays, has been shown from the accident analysis so schedule of construction process should consider possible weekday of high risk of accidents such as Tuesday and Thursday. 4) An array of systemized safety activities should be adopted, such as legal installation of safety facilities based on advance safety management plan, maintenance of safety for machinery and construction equipment, and strict compliance of safety rules by workers.
Objectives: Emergency medical personnel (EMPs) are pre-hospital emergency responders who are at risk of exposure to infections and may also serve as a source for the transmission of infections. However, few studies of infection control have specifically addressed EMPs in the Republic of Korea (hereafter Korea). The goal of this study was to assess the current status of infection prevention and control programs (IPCPs) for EMPs in Korea. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted to quantitatively assess the resources and activities of IPCPs. A total of 907 EMPs in five metropolitan cities completed a structured questionnaire from September 2014 to January 2015. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multi-response analysis, and the chi-square test. Results: The mean age of the participants was $34.8{\pm}15.1years$. IPCPs were found to have weaknesses with regard to the following resources: the assignment of infection control personnel (ICP) (79.5%), hand hygiene resources such as waterless antiseptics (79.3%), the use of paper towels (38.9%), personal protective equipment such as face shields (46.9%), and safety containers for sharps and a separated space for the disposal of infectious waste (10.1%). Likewise, the following activities were found to be inadequately incorporated into the workflow of EMPs: education about infection control (77.5%), post-exposure management (35.9%), and the decontamination of items and spaces after use (88.4%). ICP were found to have a significant effect on the resources and activities of IPCPs (p<0.001). The resources and activities of IPCPs were found to be significantly different among the five cities (p<0.001). Conclusions: IPCPs for EMPs showed some limitations in their resources and activities. IPCPs should be actively supported, and specific IPCP activities for EMPs should be developed.
Obesity increases the risk of many adult diseases, such as atherosclerosis, diabetes, hypertension, ischemic heart disease and breast cancer. Inhibition of adipogenesis is an effective way in the anti-obesity management. Because of main components of Saururus chinensis is flavonoid, it has been showed some improvement by its antioxidant effects on the atherosclerosis, heart disease and diabetic hyperlipidemia. But mechanism of anti-obesity effect of S. chinensis is not clear. We investigated the effects of ethanol extracts of S. chinensis on adipogenesis in the 3T3-L1 pre-adipocyte. The 3T3-L1 cell line is commonly used to study adipogenesis in vitro. In this study, ethanol extracts of S. chinensis significantly decrease the lipid accumulation in the 3T3-L1 cells proved by measuring triglyceride contents and Oil red O staining. The proposed mechanism of inhibition of adipogenesis in the 3T3-L1 cells with ethanol extracts of S. chinensis is down-regulation of transcriptional factors and adipocyte-specific genes such CCAAT/enhancer binding protein ${\alpha}$ ($C/EBP{\alpha}$) and Peroxisome proliferator activated receptor ${\gamma}$ ($PPAR{\gamma}$) in concentration dependent pattern. These results suggest that ethanol extracts of S. chinensis inhibits adipognesis in the 3T3-L1 cells and can be used as a safe and efficient natural substance to manage anti-obesity.
Purpose: This study examined the effects of a physical stability exercise program on the functional movement and balance of middle school volleyball players to provide future management and training data to improve the performance of volleyball players. Methods: The subjects were 20 volleyball players from Y Middle School in Mokpo. The results of comparing and analyzing the effects of the physical stability exercise program on the functional movement and balance of middle school volleyball players for 10 weeks are as follows. Results: The number of participants who showed power and agility (p<0.01) was increased significantly, and the response time was shortened significantly (p<0.01). On the evaluation of functional movement, the total score showed a significant difference between the pre-test at 10.90±1.30 points and the post-test at 13.81±.60 (p<0.001). The subjects' balance showed a significant difference from 84.11±7.53 to 97.65±8.47 (p<0.001), and the Right Composite Score showed a significant difference from 83.74±6.64 to 97.27±8.48 (p<0.001). Conclusion: The application of a physical stability exercise program for 10 weeks is effective in improving the speed, agility, functional movement, and balance to volleyball players who are weakened and at risk of injury. This is believed to prevent or reduce injury.

Purpose : This systematic review examined evidence published 2000-2021 for occupational therapy interventions for adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (adult ADHD). Methods : In order to find out the studies on the effect occupational therapy intervention on individuals with adult ADHD, studies published from 2000 to February 2022 were searched on Google Academic Search. The keywords used were "adult ADHD" AND "Occupational therapy". A total of 785 studies were searched, and from these, 3 studies were selected based on the application of the selection and exclusion criteria. The included studies comprised of 1 Quasi-experimental design study(one group pre-post test) and 2 randomized controlled trials design studies. The included studies were analyzed in PICO(patients, intervention, comparison, outcomes). Results : As a result of analysing the subjects of the included studies, subjects diagnosed with adult ADHD or classified as high-risk group in Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale test, the number of subjects was 97, and the average age was about 33 years old. Occupational therapy intervention methods for adult ADHD include Tailored Intervention, Computerized Cognitive Training, and Cognitive-Functional Intervention. The Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale was the most used to check the symptoms of ADHD, and the COPM was used the most to measure the effects of occupational therapy interventions. The dependent variables of occupational therapy intervention were occupational performance, quality of life, executive function (behavioral regulation, metacognition), self-regulation function, stress management, and sustained attention. The effect of the intervention was statistically significant in 78.5% of the total. Conclusion : It is expected that the results of this study can be used as basic data for evidence-based practice for occupational therapists to apply adult ADHD interventions. In the field of occupational therapy in Korea, research on various interventions that can improve the occupational performance of adults ADHD should be conducted.

Objectives The main aim was to quantify forward head posture using POM Checker®, a postural balance analyzer, among elementary school students. Additionally, the study aimed to investigate whether postural imbalance improved following three sessions of the school doctor program focused on body posture correction. Methods The program was conducted as part of the school doctor program in Korean Medicine, featuring lectures by a designated Korean Medicine doctor at an elementary school. The curriculum covered the importance of maintaining correct posture and included posture correction exercises. Pre- and post-program self-reported surveys were administered, alongside postural measurements taken over three months at one-month intervals. The survey included data on gender, grade, lifestyle habits, and awareness of correct posture. Result Out of 73 participating students, 63 underwent body balance measurements from the upper grades of one elementary school. Survey results revealed significant variations in daily sitting hours and weekly exercise levels. Attendance at lectures increased knowledge about correct posture. Initial measurements of forward head posture categorized 41.0% and 1.6% of participants into caution and risk groups, respectively. After the second measurement, the caution group representation decreased to 3.2%, and by the third measurement, only 1.6% of participants remained in the caution group. Conclusions Improvements in the angle and understanding of forward head posture among elementary school students were observed before and after the Korean Medicine school doctor program. However, posture improvement may be temporary, necessitating consistent follow-up management and monitoring.
This paper adopts a new approach in which nonlinear vibrations can be controlled using fuzzy controllers by optimal grey evolutionary algorithm. If the fuzzy controller cannot stabilize the systems, then the high frequency is injected into the system to assist the controller, and the system is asymptotically stabilized by adjusting the parameters. This paper uses the GM (grey model) and the neural network prediction model. The structure of the neural network is improved from a single factor, and multiple data inputs are extended to various factors and numerous data inputs. The improved model expands the applicable range of uncontrolled elements and improves the accuracy of controlled prediction, using the model that has been trained and stabilized by multiple learning. The simulation results show that the improved gray neural network model has higher prediction accuracy and reliability than the traditional GM model, improving controlled management and pre-control ability. In the combined prediction, the time series parameters and the predicted values obtained from the GM (1,1) (Grey Model of first order and one variable) are simultaneously used as the input terms of the neural network, considering the influence of the non-equal spacing of the data, which makes the results of the combined gray neural network model more rationalized. By adjusting the model structure and system parameters to simulate and analyze the controlled elements, the corresponding risk change trend graphs and prediction numerical calculation results are obtained, which also realize the effective prediction of controlled elements. According to the controlled warning principle and objective, the fuzzy evaluation method establishes the corresponding early warning response method. The goals of this paper are towards access to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services, promotion of inclusive and sustainable urbanization and participation, implementation of sustainable and disaster-resilient buildings, sustainable human settlement planning and manage.
Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought the world to a standstill and has exposed the lack of preparedness of most nations' health care systems. Even in usual times, palliative care has not received its fair share of recognition as an important component of patient care; instead, the emphasis is often placed on aggressive patient management. Now, with the entire medical community and decision-making committees focussed on intensive patient care, end-of-life care has taken a backseat. Methods: This article is a brief communication. Results: COVID 19 infection has been shown to lead to greater mortality and morbidity in patients with pre-existing illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, renal failure, and cancer. Patients typically in need of end-of-life care, such as those with late-stage cancer or heart failure, are therefore at a higher risk of both contracting COVID-19 and suffering a more severe disease course. The strict nationwide lockdowns being imposed in most countries have deterred patients from seeking medical attention or hospice care. Every day new research is coming to light regarding COVID 19. This has helped significantly in creating awareness and limiting the spread of disease. However, misinformation is also rampant, leading to discrimination and mistreatment of infected patients. Conclusion: This pandemic has been a terrifying ordeal for all and has exposed our entire population physically, psychologically, emotionally, and financially to unimaginable stresses. In the present scenario, EOL care is as much a necessity as intensive care and should be given at least a fraction of its importance.
Type 1 diabetes is on the rise worldwide. Although nutrition education for patients with diabetes has become a routine practice, specifics and impacts of such educations need to be more researched. This study examined the status of nutrition knowledge, dietary attitude, and dietary behavior among children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (9-19 year-old) and explored factors influencing dietary behaviors related to diabetes by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior. Face-to-face interviews, using a pre-tested structured questionnaire, were conducted with 32 participants (11 boys and 21 girls) with type 1 diabetes followed by a diabetes clinic in a university hospital. This study found that the level of nutrition knowledge related to diabetes was generally low at 4 points out of a possible 10, however, the dietary attitude related to diabetes was found to be generally good at 26 points out of a possible 30. Participants were motivated to follow medical staff recommendations the most; however, their family was also important. Perceived behavioral control was low especially for eating-out and portion control. The dietary behavior related to blood glucose control showed low at 13 points out of a possible 20. Regression analysis showed that perceived behavioral control (p < 0.001) was significantly related to the dietary behavior related to blood glucose control. This rare study with children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes showed that nutrition education should include a component to improve perceived behavioral control through high-risk situation management.
Purpose - This paper aims to analyze the relationship and correlation between the stock markets of Korea, the US, China, and Japan before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. Design/methodology/approach - This study conducted an empirical analysis using the stock market data from January 2016 to June 2023 for the representative market indices of Korea, the US, China, and Japan. The analysis employed the VAR model, Granger causality test, impulse response function, and variance decomposition. Findings - Analyzing the relationships of these stock markets before and after the outbreak of COVID-19, we obtained the following results. (i) The influence of the U.S. stock market was found to be absolute regardless of the COVID-19 period, and the rise in the U.S. stock market led to rises in other stock markets. (ii) The Chinese stock market had a significant negative impact on the U.S., Korean, and Japanese stock markets before COVID-19, but this influence disappeared after COVID-19. This suggests that the Chinese market exhibited unique characteristics different from the global market after COVID-19. (iii) Analyzing the period excluding the first quarter of 2020, when global stock market volatility was extremely high due to the spread of COVID-19, we found that the results were very similar to the analysis including the first quarter of 2020. Therefore, it is difficult to argue that the increased uncertainty during this period distorted the relationships among the stock markets of these four countries. Research implications or Originality - We anticipate that these findings will offer valuable insights for both individual and institutional investors, aiding them in portfolio diversification and risk mitigation.
