  • The outer race of CV(constant velocity) joint is an important load-supporting automotive put that transmits torque between the transmission gear box and driving wheel. The outer race is difficult to forge because its shape is very complicated and the required dimensional tolerances are very small. To guarantee the dimensional accuracy of the forged CV Joint, the quick and precise measurement is required to increase the inspection speed of forged products. Therefore in this study, PP(Pre-Position) Device to decrease the inspection time of measuring system has been developed to cope with forging cycle time. The measured inspection time confirms that the PPD is very effective in decreasing inspection time.

  • This study proposed how to identify window defects by using photos uploaded by occupants during the pre-handover inspection of mulch-family housing. A total of 1168 door images were acquired to generate training data and validation data. Subsequently, through the proposed algorithms, every pixel in images labeled a door was binarized using the OTSU threshold, and then dark pixels were identified as defects. Experimental results demonstrated that our computer vision-based defects identification method detects the door with a recall of 57.9%, and door defects with 63.6%. Although it is still a challenge to automatically identify building defects because of the distortion and brightness of photos, this study has the potential to support better defects management. Ultimately, the improved pre-handover inspection may lead to increased customer satisfaction.

  • IT environments such as IoT, SNS, BigData, Cloud computing are changing rapidly. These technologies add new technologies to some of existing technologies and increase the complexity of Information System. Accordingly, they require enhancing the security function for new IT services. Information Security Pre-inspection aims to assure stability and reliability for user and supplier of new IT services by proposing development stage which considers security from design phase. Existing 'Information Security Pre-inspection' (22 domains, 74 control items, 129 detail items) consist of 6 stage (Requirements Definition, Design, Training, Implementation, Test, Sustain). Pilot tests were executed for one of IT development companies to verify its effectiveness. Consequently, for some inspection items, some improvement requirements and reconstitution needs appeared. This paper conducts a study on activation of 'Information Security Pre-inspection' which aims to construct prevention system for new information system. As a result, an improved 'Information Security Pre-inspection' is suggested. This has 16 domains, 54 inspection items, 76 detail items which include some improvement requirements and reconstitution needs.

  • P-PIE is a program developed to estimate failure probability of pipes and pressure vessels considering fatigue and stress corrosion crack growth. Using the program, crack growth simulation was performed with an initially existing crack in order to examine the effects of initial crack depth distribution on the leak probability of pipes. In the simulation stress corrosion crack growth was considered and several crack depth distribution models were used. From the results it was found that the initial crack depth distribution gives great effect on the leak probability of pipes. The log-normal distribution proposed by Khaleel and Simonen gives lower leak probability compared other exponential distribution models. The effects of the number and the quality of pre-service and in-service inspections on the leak probability were also examined and it was recognized that the number and the quality of pre-service and in-service inspections are also give great effect on the leak probability. In order to reduce the leak probability of pipes in plants it is very important to improve the quality of inspections. When in-service inspection is performed every 10 years and the quality of inspection is above the very good level, the leak probability shows nearly constant value after the first inspection for an initially existing crack.

  • In this paper, we proposes a deep learning network for quality inspection in a multi-camera inline inspection system for pharmaceutical containers. The proposed deep learning network is specifically designed for pharmaceutical containers by using data produced in real manufacturing environments, leading to more accurate quality inspection. Additionally, the use of an inline-capable deep learning network allows for an increase in inspection speed. The development of the deep learning network for quality inspection in the multi-camera inline inspection system consists of three steps. First, a dataset of approximately 10,000 images is constructed from the production site using one line camera for foreign substance inspection and three area cameras for dimensional inspection. Second, the pharmaceutical container data is preprocessed by designating regions of interest (ROI) in areas where defects are likely to occur, tailored for foreign substance and dimensional inspections. Third, the preprocessed data is used to train the deep learning network. The network improves inference speed by reducing the number of channels and eliminating the use of linear layers, while accuracy is enhanced by applying PReLU and residual learning. This results in the creation of four deep learning modules tailored to the dataset built from the four cameras. The performance of the proposed deep learning network for quality inspection in the multi-camera inline inspection system for pharmaceutical containers was evaluated through experiments conducted by a certified testing agency. The results show that the deep learning modules achieved a classification accuracy of 99.4%, exceeding the world-class level of 95%, and an average classification speed of 0.947 seconds, which is superior to the world-class level of 1 second. Therefore, the effectiveness of the proposed deep learning network for quality inspection in a multi-camera inline inspection system for pharmaceutical containers has been demonstrated.

  • Nuclear power plants play a pivotal role in the global energy infrastructure, fulfilling a substantial share of the world's energy requirements in a sustainable way. The management of these facilities, especially the handling of spent nuclear fuel (SNF), necessitates meticulous inspections to guarantee operational safety and efficiency. However, the prevailing inspection methodologies lean heavily on human operators, which presents challenges due to the potential hazards of the SNF environment. This study introduces the design of a novel Pre-Batched Inspection Strategy (PBIS) that integrates robotic automation and image processing techniques to bolster the inspection process. This methodology deploys robotics to undertake tasks that could be perilous or time-intensive for humans, while image processing techniques are used for precise identification of SNF targets and regulating the robotic system. The implementation of PBIS holds considerable promise in minimizing inspection time and enhancing worker safety. This paper elaborates on the structure, capabilities, and application of PBIS, underlining its potential implications for the future of nuclear energy inspections.
