  • According to "The regulations regarding the residential construction standards", residents' common spaces are restricted by the standards on building facilities. In a typical apartment complex, residents' communal facilities are represented by a children's playground, a elderly social station, and a management office. However, these residents' communal facilities do not reflect residents' composition characteristics. Multidisciplinary research and experimentation to enable the community of housing complex are being actively conducted. In these situation, we observed institutional improvement about installing standard of community space, and analysed the tendency. The purpose of this study is to propose practical institutions to review the institutional improvement. We conducted a case study where was renovated the community space according to the new standard. As a results, the installing standard of the community space has changed in the direction to increase the autonomy of resident. These results raise the practical performance of the community space, and it has the effect of increasing the satisfaction of the residential environment. The results of this study suggest an alternative to the institutional aspects and planning aspects for community activation in housing complex.

  • Many studies on the finite element modeling for bolted joints have proceeded, but the structures with bolted joints are complicated in shape and it is difficult to find out the characteristics according to joint condition. Usually, experimental methods have been used for bolted joint analysis. A reliable and practical finite element modeling technique for structure with bolted joints is very important for engineers in industry. In this study, three kinds of model are presented; a detailed model, a practical model and a simple model. The detailed model is modeled by using 3-D solid element and gap element, and the practical model is modeled by using shell element (a portion of bolt head) and beam element (a portion of bolt body), the simple model is modeled by simplifying practical model without using gap elements. Among these models, the simple model has the least degree of freedom and show the effect of memory reduction of 59%, when compared with the detailed model.

  • Purpose: Adequate nutrition is to be provided for normal growth and development during early childhood. Currently, childcare teachers provide lunch to most children in Korea. The purpose of this study was to investigate the portion size provided by teachers and examine the effect of education on food serving size. Methods: The subjects were childcare teachers (n = 120) in charge of children aged 3-5 years at a daycare center in Hanam-si. The survey was conducted through questionnaires which included questions on the general characteristics of the teachers, their nutritional education status, and the source of nutrition information. In addition, the portion sizes of items on the menu currently provided to children were measured and the data were analyzed. To assess the effectiveness of education in determining serving size, the subjects were randomly equally divided into two groups. In the first group (n = 60) theoretical education on nutrition and serving sizes was given, whereas in the second (n = 60), practical education on these topics was provided. Results: The difference between the actual portion size of rice and the serving size announced on the menu was observed to decrease along with the increase in the experience of the teacher, although the differences in the main dish and kimchi were higher. The gap between the serving size mentioned in the menu and the portion size distributed widened as the age of the teachers increased. Notably, the difference between the portion size and the serving size of food decreased after both practical and theoretical education. Furthermore, the effect of education on the serving size of the main dishes (p < 0.001), side dishes (p < 0.01), and kimchi (p < 0.01) was observed to be greater in the practical education group than in the theoretical education group. Conclusion: Regular education should be provided to teachers on the serving sizes mentioned in the menu, as the quantity of food served depends on the experience and age of teachers. In the case of rice, theoretical education alone sufficed to ensure a proper serving size. However, hands-on training on the main and side dishes, and kimchi would be much more helpful.

  • The longitudinal vibration of the tape in the tape transport system influences the performance of the nagnetic tape-recording system. Generally it is controlled by a passive method with impedance roller which is easy to implement and cost-effective. Therefore the effect of the impedance roller in reducing the tape vibration was analyzed in this paper. The practical tape transport system was modelled mathematically as a mass-spring system. Both simulation and experimental study were carried out in order to show the vibration reduction effect of the impedance roller.

  • I report a simple method to correct the saturation effect in absorption spectra measured in total electron yield (TEY) mode. It does not require additional measurements of the X-ray penetration depth. In order to check the reliability of the method, X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) spectra for polycrystalline Fe were measured at two different incident angles, and then processed with the method. The two resultant XMCD spectra were identical, and their sum rule analysis produced the ratios of orbital magnetic moment to spin magnetic moment, which were very close to the well-known value.

  • In injection molding process, the appearance quality issue occurs in most injection molded article. One of thermal designs for the mold was performed by increasing the cavity wall temperature with being as uniform as possible in any position. On the basis of the practical evaluation, the cavity wall temperature and finishing machined cavity surface under the optimum processing conditions are the most significant factors to avoid the appearance issue on the plastic part for a good cosmetic quality. Also, the wrong choice of gate type and location can have a considerable effect on the quality of a molded part and it's so important to keep the correct runner balance from each cavity. We've proposed the education training model of the practical tool technology course for the field oriented education to improve practical tool technology ability and optimized tooling design for injection molding quality which can be performed at the workplace substantially.

  • Purpose: This study examined the correlations between the satisfaction and effectiveness of practical training and theory lectures under two conditions: face-to-face lectures and non-face-to-face online lectures. Methods: A survey of 436 public health student, whereafter SPSS 20.0 (IBM) was used on the data to conduct frequency, descriptive statistics, and exploratory factor analyses. The Cronbach's α value was estimated in a reliability analysis, and a simple regression analysis was conducted to verify the study hypothesis. Results: It was found that the students preferred pre-recorded lectures online for both practical training and theory, claiming that when compared with face-to-face lectures, these non-face-to-face lectures meant a shorter commute and the ability to repeat the content. However, it was admitted that technical issues such as facilities or access difficulties and lower concentration could be a problem. The hypothesis that course satisfaction affects lecture effectiveness was verified, with both the practical training and theory lectures found to have a statistically significant positive (+) effect. The explanatory power of student satisfaction on the effectiveness of the theory component was slightly higher than that of the practical training component, with the students having more positive perceptions on the necessity of face-to-face lectures in practical training than they did for those in theoretical instruction. Conclusion: Providing non-face-to-face online theory courses and face-to-face practical training courses could increase student satisfaction and lecture effectiveness.
