This study was conducted by survey and inspection of stair passage leading lights in shopping buildings which are more than 5 stories and have an underground parking lot located at Pyeongtaek-si and Seongnam-si. Number of shopping building for this study is 30 and of stair passage leading light inspected by two lights in each shopping building is 60. The result of this study is that the type of installed leading lights is LED(77%), and 60% of leading lights has problem such as no cleaning, scratch and discoloration, etc. The height of installed leading lights meets the fire law which is less than 1m from the floor. Visible condition of leading lights is good except some leading lights which have a little visible problem due to banner advertisement. 37% of standby power has flickered and went out. 93% of total leading lights meets the fire law which is more than 1lux from 0.5m distance, but cold cathode fluorescent lamps(CCFLs) have the problem which not meets proper brightness level based on fire law. In additional measurement result, zero lux of leading lights is 32%(from 1m distance), 68%(from 1.5m distance) and 98%(from 2m distance). Leading light is very important facility because it is eyes and guide when emergency. Therefore, proper fire facility operating function inspection and total detailed inspection are important to keep the good condition of leading light except simple visual check, and also improvement in law system of type approval, fire construction inspection and illumination level will be needed.
In this paper optimization of volume fraction distribution in a thick hollow cylinder with finite length made of two-dimensional functionally graded material (2D-FGM) and subjected to steady state thermal and mechanical loadings is considered. The finite element method with graded material properties within each element (graded finite elements) is used to model the structure. Volume fractions of constituent materials on a finite number of design points are taken as design variables and the volume fractions at any arbitrary point in the cylinder are obtained via cubic spline interpolation functions. The objective function selected as having the normalized effective stress equal to one at all points that leads to a uniform stress distribution in the structure. Genetic Algorithm jointed with interior penalty-function method for implementing constraints is effectively employed to find the global solution of the optimization problem. Obtained results indicates that by using the uniform distribution of normalized effective stress as objective function, considerably more efficient usage of materials can be achieved compared with the power law volume fraction distribution. Also considering uniform distribution of safety factor as design criteria instead of minimizing peak effective stress affects remarkably the optimum volume fractions.
We present a very wide-field survey of dwarf galaxies in the M106 Group using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 8, covering an area of $10^{\circ}{\times}14^{\circ}$ around M106. We select 18 new members of the M106 group, 10 of which are new findings. Surface brightness profiles of most of these galaxies are fitted well by an exponential law. Twelve of these galaxies are early-types, and the rest are late-types. We produce a master catalog of the M106 Group galaxies by combining these new galaxies with 30 known galaxies. The faint-end of the luminosity function of these galaxies is fitted by a power law with an index ${\alpha}=-1.22{\pm}0.02$. This slope is much flatter than the value predicted by the ${\Lambda}CDM$ models, but is similar to the values for other galaxy groups. The spatial distribution of the dwarf galaxies in the M106 group is quite different from that of the bright members of the group, requiring a further study.

A finite element model for the non-linear dynamic analysis of a reinforced concrete (RC) containment shell of a nuclear power plant subjected to extreme loads such as impact and earthquake is presented in this work. The impact is modeled by using an uncoupled approach in which a load function is applied at the impact zone. The earthquake load is modeled by prescribing ground accelerations at the base of the structure. The nuclear containment is discretized spatially by using 20-node brick finite elements. The concrete in compression is modeled by using a modified $Dr{\ddot{u}}cker$-Prager elasto-plastic constitutive law where strain rate effects are considered. Cracking of concrete is modeled by using a smeared cracking approach where the tension-stiffening effect is included via a strain-softening rule. A model based on fracture mechanics, using the concept of constant fracture energy release, is used to relate the strain softening effect to the element size in order to guaranty mesh independency in the numerical prediction. The reinforcing bars are represented by incorporated membrane elements with a von Mises elasto-plastic law. Two benchmarks are used to verify the numerical implementation of the present model. Results are presented graphically in terms of displacement histories and cracking patterns. Finally, the influence of the shear transfer model used for cracked concrete as well as the effect due to a base slab incorporation in the numerical modeling are analyzed.
In this paper, maximum efficiency operation of two types of permanent magnet synchronous motor drives, namely; surface type permanent magnet synchronous machine (SPMSM) and interior type permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM), are investigated. The efficiency of both drives is maximized by minimizing copper and iron losses. Loss minimization is implemented using flux weakening. A neural network controller (NNC) is designed for each drive, to achieve loss minimization at difffrent speeds and load torque values. Data for training the NNC are obtained through off-line simulations of SPMSM and IPMSM at difffrent operating conditions. Accuracy and fast response of each NNC is proved by applying sudden changes in speed and load and tracking the UC output. The drives'efHciency obtained by flux weakening is compared with the efficiency obtained when setting the d-axis current component to zero, while varying the angle of advance "$\vartheta$" of the PWM inverter supplying the PMSM drive. Equal efficiencies are obtained at diffErent values of $\vartheta$, derived to be function of speed and load torque. A NN is also designed, and trained to vary $\vartheta$ following the derived control law. The accuracy and fast response of the NN controller is also proved.so proved.
A theoretical model has been studied to describe the sound radiation analysis for structural vibration noise control of tire under the action of random moving line forces. When a tire is analyzed, it has been modeled as a curved beam with distributed springs and dash-pots which represent the radial, tangential stiffness and damping of tire, respectively. The reaction due to fluid loading on the vibratory response of the curved beam is taken into account. The curved beam is assumed to occupy the plane y = 0 and to be axially infinite. The material of curved beam and elastic foundation are assumed to be lossless, and governed by the law of Bernoulli-Euler beam theory. The expression for sound power is integrated numerically and its results examined as a function of Mach number(M), wavenumber ratio(.gamma.) and stiffness factor(.PSI.). The experimental investigation for structural vibration noise of tire under the action of random moving line forces has been made. Based on the STSF(Spatial Transformation of Sound Field) techniques, the sound power and sound radiation are measured. The experimental results show that operating condition, material properties and design factors of the tire have a great effect on the sound power and sound radiation characteristics.
The requisite numbers of sample replicates for the population study of soft-bottom benthos were estimated from survey data on the Songdo tidal flat and subtidal zone in Youngil Bay, Korea. Large numbers of samples were taken; two-hundred-fifty 0.02 m$^2$ box corers and fifty 0.1m$^2$ van Veen grabs were taken on the Songdo tidal flat and in Youngil Bay, respectively. The effect of sampler size on sampling efforts was investigated by pooling the unit samples in pairs, fours, eights, etc. The requisite number of sample replicates (n$_r$) was determined by sample variance (s$^2$) and mean (m) function (n$_r$:s$^2$/P$^2$m$^2$), at P=0.2 level, in which s$^2$ and m were calculated from the counts of individuals collected. For example, seven samples of 0.02 m$^2$ corer for the intertidal and two samples of 0.1 m$^2$ van Veen grab for subtidal fauna were required to estimate the total density of community. The smaller sampler size was more efficient than larger ones when sampling costs were compared on the basis of the total sampling area. The requisite number of sample replicates was also predicted ($\^{n}$n$_r$) by substituting $\^{s}$$^2$ obtained from the regression of s$^2$ against m using the Taylor's power law ($\^{s}$$^2$:am$^b$). The regression line of survey data on s$^2$ and m plotted on log scale was well fitted to the Taylor's power law (r$^2$${\geq}$0.95, p<;0.001) over the whole range of m. The exponent b was, however, varied when it was estimated from m which was categorized into classes by its scale. The fitted exponent b was large when both density class and the sampler size were large. The number of sample replicates, therefore, could be more significantly estimated, if regression coefficients (a and b) would be calculated from sample variance and mean categorized into density classes.

The paper attempts to estimate the incubation time of a cavity in the interface between a power law creep particle and an elastic matrix subjected to a uniaxial stress. Since the power law creep particle is time dependent, the stresses in the interface relax. The volume free energy associated with Helmholtz free energy includes strain energies caused by applied stress and dislocations piled up in interface(DPI). The energy due to DPI is found by modifying the result of Dundurs and Mura[4]. The volume free energies caused by both applied stress and DPI are a function of the cavity size(r) and elapsed time(t) and arise from stress relaxation in the interface. Critical radius $r^*$ and incubation time $t^*$ to maximise Helmholtz free energy is found in present analysis. Also, kinetics of cavity formation are investigated using the results obtained by Riede [7]. The incubation time is defined in the analysis as the time required to satisfy both the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions. Through the analysis it is found that 1) strain energy caused by the applied stress does not contribute significantly to the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions of a cavity formation, 2) in order to satisfy both thermodynamic and kinetic conditions, critical radius $r^*$ decreases or holds constant with increase of the time until the kinetic condition(eq. 2.3) is satisfied. there for the cavity may not grow right after it is formed, as postulated by Harris [15], and Ishida and Mclean [16], 3) the effects of strain rate exponent (m), material constant $\sigma$0, volume fraction of the particle to matrix(f)and particle size on the incubation time are estimated using material constants of the copper as matrix.

Recently, damage occurrence by wind erosion has been increasing in society. In times past, such problems only took place in desert area ; however, in recent years, the wind erosion problem is spreading out to agricultural land. Wind erosion in agricultural land can cause loss of loam soils, the disturbance of the photosynthesis of the crop fields and serious economic losses. To overcome the mentioned problems, installation of windbreak fence can be recommended which function as disturbing strong wind and wind erosion. However, there is still no proper guideline to install the windbreak fence and the installation used to rely on the intuition of the workers due to the lack of related studies. Therefore, this study measured the aerodynamic resistance of screens of the windbreak fence using the apparatus for testing screens. The apparatus for testing screens was designed to measure pressure loss around the screen. Measured pressure loss by wall friction compensated for pressure loss to calculate the aerodynamic resistance of screens. The result of pressure loss by regression analysis derived the aerodynamic coefficient of Darcy-Forchheimer equation and power law equation. The aerodynamic resistance was constant regardless of the overlapped shape when the screen was overlapped into several layers. Increasing the number of layers of the screen, internal resistance increased significantly more, and pressure loss caused by the screen also increased linearly when the wind speed was certain conditions, but permeability had no tendency. In the future, the results of this study will be applied to the computational fluid dynamics simulation. The simulation models will be also validated in advance by wind tunnel experiments. It will provide standard of a design for constructing windbreak fence.
A numerical model of surface runoff and river flow has been applied to small- and large-size catchment areas in order to investigate the physical characteristics of river flow during flood period. Several refinements are made on the existing model SIRG-RS for the ways of rainfall input through surface runoff, river junction treatment and the computation of river flow on steep slope. For the computation of frictional forces, employed is the power law of friction factor which is a function of Reynolds number and relative roughness height. The empirical equation of friction factor is developed using recent field data as well as laboratory data. The refined model has been applied to small-size catchment area as well as large-size catchment area, and the computation results are found in good agreement with the observations in both cases.
