An Experimental Study on the Leakage Characteristics and Durability Evaluation of an LPLi Injector (LPLi 인젝터의 누설특성 및 내구평가에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The worldwide energy problem and global warming cause the need of alternative fuels which feature low carbon-dioxide emission and another energy source. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is one of the alternative fuels widely used as domestic and transportational fuel. The third generation LPLi fuel supply system has merits in the increase of engine power and low emissions. The injectors used in LPLi system should overcome a leakage problem and satisfy the durability conditions. Therefore, 1000 hour durability test of the injectors was carried out throughout this research. First, the spray pattern and the penetration length of the selected injectors is graphically shown. Next, the leakage amount with respect to the injection cycle is introduced. Finally, the shapes of nozzle holder and nozzle tip after durability test was investigated by analyzing the microscopic image of the injector tip. The variation in the shape of nozzle tip mainly due to the residue of rubber materials is found to be the reason for leakage.

  • This paper is the transient analysis for choosing the optimal SCR ratings of AC3 utilization category testing equipment(AC3 TE) used for electrical durability test for magnetic switch according to IEC60947-4 Annex B by utilizing EMTP -ATPDraw. Magnetic contactor closes and opens the motor load with ON/OFF switch of electronic contactor. It is also used for protecting and controlling the load. Magnetic contactor detects the over-current flow in the load with a over-current relay and disconnects the load by opening its control power. The key cost of AC3 TE is the SCR ratings. The more decreases SCR ratings, the more decreased the cost is, but it is impossible to ensure the reliability. On the other hand, the more increases SCR ratings, the more increased the cost is. Thereupon, in this paper after the testing circuit is simulated by using EMTP-ATPDraw the SCR ratings will be applied in order to guarantee the testing reliability of PT&T(Power Testing and Technology institute in LG Industrial Systems Co.,Ltd.).

  • With the expansion in the use of DC power systems and increased need for system maintenance, the development of measurement devices for maintenance requires high stability. Of the different kinds of DC current measurement devices, the single-shot measurement device causes the input signal of the current measuring unit to initially generate a high inrush current. The high inrush current flows into the signal processor of the meter, shortening the life of the internal fuses and causing failure. Therefore, in this study, the I2t value for increasing the durability of the fuse is designed using the available wire diameter. Operating characteristics for 210~400% over-current of the rated current, which is relatively low over-current, are realized by the plating of low melting tin metal. As a result, a method of designing a fuse element for a DC power supply, which improves the safety of the DC current measurement device by blocking the failure caused by the inrush current, is presented.

  • In this paper, the improved power durability test system and method for an reliability analysis of SAW device is proposed and the failure mechanism through failure analysis is analyzed. As a result of the failure analysis using microscope, SEM and EDX, the failure mechanism of the SAW device is electromigration due to joule heating under high current density and high temperature condition. The electromigration makes voids and hillocks in the IDT electrode and the voids and hillocks can lead to short circuit and open circuit faults, respectively, increasing the insertion loss of an SAW filter. The accelerated life testing of the SAW filter for 450MHz CDMA application using the proposed power durability test system and method is carried out. $B_{10}$ lifetime of the SAW filter using Eyring model and Weibull distribution is estimated as about 98,500 hours.

  • This study examined the durability of face-slab concrete in Concrete-Faced Rock-filled Dams(CFRDs). The durability of face-slab concrete can be improved by optimizing the amount of fly ash in the cement mixture. Durability tests including plastic shrinkage, permeability, abrasion resistance, and repeated freezing and thawing were done on face-slab concrete specimens with different amounts of fly ash and blended PVA(Poly Vinyl Alcohol) fibre. When the effect of the fly ash content on concrete durability was evaluated, the results showed that a 15% fly ash content and 0.1% blended PVA fiber yielded the optimum durability level for concrete-faced rock-filled dams.

  • In this study, it was founded to make the optimal mixture for producing concrete which is self-compacting, yet, and generates low heat of hydration by using flyash, blast furnace slags and limestone powders as binders in addition to cement while using super-plasticizers and viscosity agents as admixture agents. The structural behaviors of the concrete produced with the selected mixture were compared with those of the concrete currently using for construction of nuclear power plants. The study shows that the blended high fluidity concrete including limestone is better in workability and durability than the concrete currently in use for nuclear power plants.

  • The gear in various mechanical components easily occurs at damages by the external torque. The main failure modes of the gear are surface pitting with the tooth surface and breakage with tooth root by caused fatigue. Therefore, the gear is very important role in the reliability research since it may cause fatal damage of entire system such as the gear box in automobile transmission. In this study, the failure mode of the gear was analyzed and accelerated durability analysis was employed for the life estimation of spur gears. In the case of assumed load spectrums, the reliability of spur gears was evaluated by inverse power law-Weibull accelerated life test model with cumulative damage exposure.

  • In Marine Land underground reinforced concrete structures, such as electric box power structure, water and chloride ion penetrated into concrete through the cracks of concrete and its permeable property, cause the corrosion of reinforcing steel bar, which accelerates the expansive cracks and deterioration of concrete. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate on deterioration of durability concrete through instrumental analysis such as schmidt hammer and carbonation, chloride content. Under the reclaimed marine land, the main cause of deterioration of concrete structures is the steel corrosion due to the penetration of chlorides and the deterioration of outer concrete itself by chemical attack.

The Effect of Additive Catalyst according to Thermal Aging of Vanadia SCR (Vanadia SCR의 열적 열화에 따른 조촉매의 영향)

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of additive catalyst according to the thermal aging of vanadia SCR catalysts. At a fresh condition, the $3V_2O_5-5WO_5-92TiO_2$ SCR showed the highest NOx conversion rate of about 30%, the performance of 5 kinds of SCR to which additive catalysts were added was not improved due to the insignificant effect of acid site control. For catalysts aged for 12h at $700^{\circ}C$, the SCR to which 3wt% Zeolite was added decreased in NOx conversion rate by 2.5% on average compared to the fresh SCR, it showed higher thermal durability than other additive catalyst. For 3Zeolite with high performance of NOx conversion rate during thermal aging, the Zeolite with stronger durability at a high temperature than other 5 kinds of SCR catalysts decreased the sintering of catalysts.

  • In general, crankshafts which are used in internal combustion reciprocating engines are subjects to high torsional vibration. Therefore, a damper is often used to minimize the torsional vibration in reciprocating engines. In this paper, in order to investigate damping performance of viscous damper, the real effective viscosity and complex damping coefficient of silicone oil, and the effective inertia moment of inertia ring are calculated considering the relative motion between damper casing and inertia ring. Based on these results multi-cylinder shaft is modeled into equivalent 2-degree of freedom system and optimum condition is estimated by calculating the amplification factor of viscous damper. Also the test damper was manufactured according to the result of theoretical investigation, the performance and durability was ascertained through experimental examination.
