  • In this paper, operation algorithms are evaluated for a fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle (FCHEV). Power assist, load leveling and equivalent fuel algorithm are proposed and implemented in the FCHEV performance simulator. It is found from the simulation results that the load leveling algorithm shows poor fuel economy due to the system charge and discharge efficiency. In the power assist and equivalent fuel algorithm, the fuel cell stack is operated in a relatively better efficiency region owing to the battery power assist, which provides the improved fuel economy.

  • In this paper, we analyze the induced voltage and current in the underground transmission cable. To analyze it, we select the 154[kV] underground transmission system which is located in the city. In the case of the steady state, the single phase fault, and three phase fault in the underground cable, we analyze the induced voltage and current for an equivalent model through EMTP simulation. Also, the components of an equivalent model and the computer simulation using EMTP is described.

  • This paper presents a new practical method for optimal active and reactive power control for the economic operation in electrical power system, and the programs are developed for digital computer solution. The major features and techniques of this paper are as follows: 1) The method is presented for finding the equivalent active power balance equation applying the sparse Jacobian matrix of power flow equation instead of using B constant as active power balance equation considering transmission loss, and thus for determining directly optimal active power allocation berween generator unitw satisfying the equality and inequality constraints. 2) The method is proposed for solving directly the optimum economim dispatch problem without using gradient method and penalty function for both active and reactive power control. As a result, the computing time are reduced and convergence characteristic is remarkably improved. 3) Unlike most of conventional methods which adopt the transmission loss as a objective function for reactive power control, the total fuel cost of themal power plant is adopted as objective function for both active and reactive power control. consequently, more reasonable and economic profit can be achieved.

  • This paper proposes a soft-switching current source inverter for photovoltaic power system, which has an H-type switched-capacitor module composed of two semiconductor switches, two diodes , and an L-C resonant circuit. The operation of proposed system was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and verified by computer simulations with SPICE. The feasibility of hardware implementation was verified by experimental works with a prototype. The proposed system could by effectively applied for the photovoltaic power system with high efficiency.

  • The support or automation of various kinds of intelligent work is urged at large, integrated control centers. Given this demand, a decision making system for wash timing of polluted insulators, applying the Bayesian rule theory, has been developed in order to support maintenance work in the power system. The results of this system application revealed that exact wash timing of the insulators could be determined automatically, equivalent in precision to judgement by skilled operators, thus contributing to further work efficiency.

  • This paper presents the channel analysis considering power distribution network(PDN) system of PCB. For achieve the target PDN system we proposed the useful design approach for acquiring the characteristic target of power distribution network in overall frequency ranges. The proposed method is based on the hierarchical approach related to frequency ranges and the path-based equivalent circuit model to consider the interference of the current paths between the decoupling capacitors and the board through it is a lumped model for fast and easy calculation, experimental results show that the proposed model is almost as precise as the numerical analysis. The analysis of PDN system shows that although the effective inductance of package dominatly affects the power noise and the signal transfer through data channel, the board PDNs also can not be neglected for achieving the accurate channel signaling. Therefore, we must design concurrently the chip, package, and board from the initial spec design of high speed digital system.

  • This paper describes the TNA(Transient Network Analyzer) modeling/operating methods and the analysis results of expected overvoltages of 765 kV system in 2005 by the TNA. The power system is expressed as the equivalent inductance of power system, power source, transmission line, switch, and etc. in the TNA. We have examined the overvoltages in the ground fault case, the fault clearing case and the closing/re-closing case. The maximum line-to-line overvoltage is 1.87 p.u., which occurs between SS and SA at the fault clearing case.

  • A dosimeter using tissue-equivalent scintillator by photon-counting method was developed and evaluated in its performance. The dosimeter is portable and can be operated by low power from lap-top computer. A data-acquisition software of the dosimeter system was developed by Labwindows/CVI based on Windows. The energy to channel ratio for energy calibration was 0.839 keV/ch. obtained from pulse height spectrum of $^{137}Cs$ and $^{60}Co$ gamma-ray. Using the dosimeter system, the absorbed dose of environmental radiation in Gyungju was 0.18 ${\mu}Sv/h$.

  • The critical speeds and mode shapes are most important to determine the behaviors of rotor in designing rotating machinery. As the capacity and span of turbine-generator increases, the turbine-generator system is composed of many components such as bearings, pedestal, turbine and hood and so on. Also, it is getting flexible and has many critical speeds. Especially, as the characteristics of bearing-pedestal are very complicated, they affect the entire vibration characteristics of turbine-generator system. In this paper, it is observed how to determine the equivalent dynamic stiffness of bearing-pedestal by analytical and experimental method.
