  • In this study, a measurement method of leakage flow-rate for pneumatic driving apparatus is proposed. The existing measurement methods of leakage flow-rate of air need disassemble the test component. Therefore, there is no effective method to measure the leakage flow-rate while operating pneumatic driving apparatus. In this study, the leakage flow-rate is measured from the pressure change in an isothermal chamber that can realize isothermal conditions by stuffing the steel wool into it. Therefore, a wide range of flow-rate could be measured only from the pressure response and the leakage flow-rate can be measured during operating pneumatic driving apparatus. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by experimental results.

  • When controling combustion air flow in coal fired power plant the furnace safety must be considered first prior to plant efficiency. therefore it is very important to set air flow demand exactly for safe operation and maintenance. This paper analyze air flow control loop in power plant and introduce the method to improve dynamic response time. Simulation result shows this scheme is adoptable and provide better performance.

  • In this paper the vibration and power flow analysis for the branched piping system conveying fluid are performed by wave approach. The uniform straight pipe element conveying fluid is formulated using the dynamic stiffness matrix by wave approach. The branched piping system conveying fluid can be easily formulated with considering of simple assumptions of displacements at the junction and continuity conditions of the pipe internal flow. The dynamic stiffness matrix for each uniform straight pipe element can be assembled by using the global assembly technique using in conventional finite element method. The computational method proposed in this paper can easily calculate the forced responses and power flow of the branched piping system conveying fluid regardless of finite element size and modal properties.

  • This paper discusses the development of an educational web-based power flow program for undergraduate students. The interaction between lectures and users can be much enhanced via the web-based programs which result in the student's learning effectiveness on the power flow problem. However the difficulties for developing web-based application programs are that there can be the numerous unspecified users to access the application programs. To overcome the aforementioned multi-users problem and to develope the educational web-based power flow program, we have revised the system architecture, the modeling of application programs, and database which efficiently and effectively manages the complex data sets related to the power flow analysis program. The developed application program is composed of the physical three tiers where the middle tier is logically divided into two kinds of application programs. The divided application programs are interconnected by using the Web-service based on XML (Extended Markup Technology) and HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) which make it possible the distributed computing technology Also, this paper describes the method of database modeling to handle effectively when the numerous users change the parameters of the power system to compare the results of the base case.

  • The most widely used index for the vulnerable area investigation has been the reactive power margin or sensitivity analysis. But we can only obtain the results of these analyses if the results of load flow are convergent in severe contingencies. Otherwise these methods are not adoptable. This paper presents a good index for overcoming severe contingencies, though the power flow equation is unsolvable using the branch parameter continuation power flow. In simulation, the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) Systems are applied.

  • In this paper, Power Flow Analysis (PFA) method has been applied to the prediction of vibration energy density and intensity of coupled shell structures in the medium-to-high frequency ranges. To consider the wave transformation at joint between shell elements, power transmission and reflection coefficients are investigated for various joint angles, and here Donnell-Mushtari thin shell theory has been used. • Power flow analysis(PFA) methods have shown many advantages in noise predictions and vibration analysis in medium-to-high frequency ranges. Applying the finite element technique to PFA has produced power flow finite element method(PFFEM) that can be effectively used for analysis of vibration of complicated structures. PFADS(power flow analysis design system) based on PFFEM as the vibration analysis program has been developed for vibration predictions and analysis of coupled structural systems. In this paper, to improve the function of vibro-acoustic coupled analysis in PFADS, the PFFEM has been extended for analysis of the interior noise problems in the vibro-acoustic fully coupled systems. The vibro-acoustic fully coupled PFFEM formulation based on energy coupled relations is extended to structural system model by using appropriate modifications to structural-structural, structural-acoustic and acoustic-acoustic joint matrices. It has been applied to prediction of the interior noise in two room model coupled with panels, and the PFFEM results are compared to those of statistical energy analysis(SEA).

  • The flow forming has been used to produce long thin walled tube parts, with the reduced fanning force and the enhanced mechanical and surface quality for a good finished part, compared with the fanned parts using other method. Therefore, flow fanning technique is used widely in industrial production. Spinning and flow fanning techniques are used frequently in automotive, aerial and defense industries. The main factors for the flow fanning machine design are motor power, bed rigidity, mandrel stiffness, spindle power, roller profile, etc. Especially, mandrel, spindle power and roller are important factors for flow fanning machine capacity. In this paper, three dimensional finite element method for analysis of one-roller backward flow fanning of a workpiece has been carried out to study effects of roller profile on fanning force. Applied roller profile have roller lead geometries of angle $20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ},\;40^{\circ}$, concave and convex. Axial and radial fanning forces on various roller profiles are obtained and compared with each analysis cases.

  • The electric power industry throughout the world is undergoing considerable changes from the vertically integrated utility structure to the deregulated market. However, the deregulated electricity market is operated with respect to theory of economical efficiency, and therefore, the system operator requires data with fast contingency ranking for security of the bulk power system. This paper compares the weather dependant probabilistic risk index(PRI) with the system performance index for power flow in the IEEE-RTS. The system performance index for power flow presents the power system stability. This paper presents fast calculation method for determining contingency ranking using the weather dependant probabilistic risk index(PRI). The probabilistic risk index can be classified into the case of normal and adverse weather. This paper proposes calculation method using the probabilistic risk index in determining contingency ranking required for security under the deregulated electricity market.

  • Spacer grid with mixing vane had been widely used in nuclear reactor core. One of the main feather of spacer grid with mixing vane was that strong swirl flow was formed after the spacer grid. The swirl flow not only changed the bubble generation in the near wall field, but also affected the bubble behaviors in the center region of the subchannel. The interaction between bubble and the swirl flow was one of the basic phenomena for the two phase flow modeling in fuel assembly. To obatin better understanding on the bubble behaviors in swirl flow, full three dimension numerical simulations were conducted in the present paper. The swirl flow was assumed in the cylindral calculation domain. The bubble interface was captured by Volume Of Fluid (VOF) method. The properties of saturated water and steam at different pressure were applied in the simulation. The bubble trajectory, motion, shape and force were obtained based on the bubble parameters captured by VOF. The simulation cases in the present study included single bubble with different size, at different angular velocity conditions and at different pressure conditions. The results indicated that bubble migrated to the center in swirl flow with spiral motion type. The lateral migration was mainly related to shear stress magnitude and bubble size. The bubble moved toward the center with high velocity when the swirl magnitude was high. The largest bubble had the highest lateral migration velocity in the present study range. The effect of pressure was small when bubble size was the same. The prelimenery simulation result would be beneficial for better understanding complex two phase flow phenomena in fuel assembly with spacer grid.
