An Interior Point Method based Reactive Optimal Power Flow Incorporating Margin Enhancement Constraints

  • This paper describes a reactive optimal power flow incorporating margin enhancement constraints. Margin sensitivity at a steady-state voltage instability point is calculated using invariant space parametric sensitivity, and it can provide valuable information for selection of effective control parameters. However, the weakest buses in neighboring regions have high margin sensitivities within a certain range. Hence, the control determination using only the sensitivity information might cause violation of operational limits of the base operating point, at which the control is applied to enhance voltage stability margin in the direction of parameter increase. This paper applies an interior point method (IPM) to solve the optimal power flow formulation with the margin enhancement constraints, and shunt capacitances are mainly considered as control variables. In addition, nonlinearity of margin enhancement with respect to control of shunt capacitance is considered for speed-up control determination in the numerical example using the IEEE 118-bus test system.

공압실린더의 누설유량 계측방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Measurement Method of Leakage Flow-rate for Pneumatic Cylinder)

  • In this study, a measurement method of leakage flow-rate for pneumatic driving apparatus is proposed. The existing measurement methods of leakage flow-rate of air need disassemble the test component. Therefore, there is no effective method to measure the leakage flow-rate while operating pneumatic driving apparatus. In this study, the leakage flow-rate is measure from the pressure change in an isothermal chamber that can realize isothermal conditions by stuffing steel wool into it. Therefore, wide range of flow-rate could be measured only from the pressure response and the leakage flow-rate can be measured during operating pneumatic driving apparatus. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by experimental results.

  • In gear-train design, power-flow analysis is a very important process. The method for power-flow analysis apply the power balance equation and torque balance equation to each fundamental circuit. Then, the equation are solved simultaneously to determine the power-flow in planetary gear train. In this paper we perform power-flow analysis of a 6-speed automatic transmission. With this results are used to represent block diagram. In addition, the efficiencies of epicyclic inversion of the 6-speed automatic transmission is obtained.

Graphical Representation of the Instantaneous Compensation Power Flow for Single-Phase Active Power Filters

  • The conventional graphical representation of the instantaneous compensation power flow for single-phase active power filters(APFs) simply represents the active power flow and the reactive power flow which flowing between the power source and the active filter / the load. But, this method does not provide the information about the rectification mode and the compensation mode of APFs, especially, the loss for each mode was not considered at all. This is very important to understand the compensation operation characteristics of APFs. Therefore, this paper proposes the graphical representation of the instantaneous compensation power flow for single-phase APFs considering the instantaneous rectification mode and the instantaneous inversion mode. Three cases are verified in this paper - without compensation, with compensation of the active power 'p' and the fundamental reactive power 'q', and with compensation of only the distorted power 'h'. To ensure the validity of the proposed approach, PSIM simulation is achieved. As a result, we could confirm that the proposed approach was easy to explain the instantaneous compensation power flow considering the instantaneous rectification mode and the instantaneous inversion mode of APFs, also, Total Harmonic Distortion(THD)/Power Factor (P.F) and Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) analysis were compared for each case.

  • Vibration experiments have been performed to observe the analytic characteristics of power How finite element method(PFFEM) for the reinforced cylindrical structure. For this, the vibration experimental results are compared with the numerical solutions obtained by PFFEM in medium-to-high frequency ranges. Input Power into the experimental structure is measured using the impedance head adhered to the exciter, and that input power is used for the vibration analysis. Using the developed PFFEM program(PFADS), the reinforced cylindrical structure modeled by beam and plate elements is analyzed, and very reliable results for PFFEM are obtained by the comparisons of the experimental results.

Fuzzy-Enforced Complementarity Constraints in Nonlinear Interior Point Method-Based Optimization

  • This paper presents a fuzzy set method to enforce complementarity constraints (CCs) in a nonlinear interior point method (NIPM)-based optimization. NIPM is a Newton-type approach to nonlinear programming problems, but it adopts log-barrier functions to deal with the obstacle of managing inequality constraints. The fuzzy-enforcement method has been implemented for CCs, which can be incorporated in optimization problems for real-world applications. In this paper, numerical simulations that apply this method to power system optimal power flow problems are included.

  • This paper presents a scheme to solve the congestion problem with phase-shifting transformer(PST) and power generation using linear programming method. A good design of PST and power generation control can improve total transfer capability(TTC) in interconnected systems. This paper deals with an application of optimization technique for TTC calculation. linear programming method is used to maximize power flow of tie line subject to security constraints such as voltage magnitude and real power flow. The proposed method is applied to 10 machines 39 buses model systems to show its effectiveness.

Numerical analysis of melt migration and solidification behavior in LBR severe accident with MPS method

  • In Lead-based reactor (LBR) severe accident, the meltdown and migration inside the reactor core will lead to fuel fragment concentration, which may further cause re-criticality and even core disintegration. Accurately predicting the migration and solidification behavior of melt in LBR severe accidents is of prime importance for safety analysis of LBR. In this study, the Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) method is validated and used to simulate the migration and solidification behavior. Two main surface tension models are validated and compared. Meanwhile, the MPS method is validated by the L-plate solidification test. Based on the improved MPS method, the migration and solidification behavior of melt in LBR severe accident was studied furthermore. In the Pb-Bi coolant, the melt flows upward due to density difference. The migration and solidification behavior are greatly affected by the surface tension and viscous resistance varying with enthalpy. The whole movement process can be divided into three stages depending on the change in velocity. The heat transfer of core melt is determined jointly by two heat transfer modes: flow heat transfer and solid conductivity. Generally, the research results indicate that the MPS method has unique advantage in studying the migration and solidification behavior in LBR severe accident.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new load flow analysis algorithm. In order to develop it, we converted typical power flow problem into optimal problem. This problem has the objective function that minimize the difference between calculated values and specified values of bus powers and subject to bus power equations of P and Q. Using it, we solved the divergence by singularity of Jacobian matrix, the divergence by initial value in the typical power flow study. In the study of a sample system, we verified the superiority of proposed algorithm.

  • This paper describes a simulation model to analyze the dynamic performance of Unified Power Flow Controller which ran flexibly adjust the active and reactive power flow through the ac transmission line. An equivalent circuit to analyze the basic principle for the whole system operation was developed and a control system for the Unified Power Flow Controller was derived using vector control method. A computer simulation model with EMTP code was also conceived to evaluate the performance of the Unified power Flow Controller. The simulation results show that Unified Power flow Controller is very effective for controlling the power flow and damping the subsynchronous resonance in the power system.
