  • 고유가 시대의 도래와 화석연료의 소비를 줄일 수 있는 환경 친화적 자동차인 하이브리드 자동차의 도입이 일본, 미국 등을 중심으로 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 이 중 마일드 하이브리드 시스템은 Idle Stop-Start, Launch Assist 및 회생 제동 등의 기능을 적용하여 연비개선의 효과를 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 화석 연료를 사용하는 자동차에도 적용이 가능하며 2차 전지에 비해 수명이 긴 슈퍼 커패시터를 사용하여 MHEV용 5kW급 저압 인버터 시스템을 개발하였다.

  • Since a tower crane is too high for a worker to ascend and by the wind in the high altitude, the possibility of a safety accident is very high, a lift assist is used. In this study, the hydraulic fall prevention device using the pressure generation device by Seok, et al. was developed. For this, the effects on the fall prevention performances of factors such as gear clearance, oil viscosity, rotative velocity and so on were evaluated by the analysis of fluid flow using FEM and the prototype was producted and a function test was performed.

  • In order to support wind power development in Jejudo, the island of winds, the wind resource database KIER-WindJeju has been established by meteor-statistical analysis on met-mast measurements of KIER. The analysis includes tower shading, exposure category, wind profile exponent for wind speed extrapolation to hub height of wind turbine, and correlation matrix between neighboring sites to assist choice of appropriate reference site for long-term correlation. KIER-WindJeju will be provided as an add-on of Google $Earth^{TM}$ and will be used as a guideline of future wind resource assessment in Jejudo.

  • Clinical laboratory order communication system was developed to run fast and effective laboratory tests at the Chungbuk National University Hospital. The present system incorporated with the main Hospital Management Information System accepts :aboratory orders, classifies them based on the predefined logical system, and outputs various practical informations for the user. These assist sample taking, sample management, and work plan organization. A special care was taken to the sample management by introducing the bar code system. The system was written in the INFOS hierarchical database and COBOL, and is currently in the practical use for both in - and out-ward patients. The present system enabled fast and effective data communication as well as reducing the time and man power indispensable when the manual slips are used for order communication.

  • Intelligent Robot is considered as one of the Next Generation Growth Engine in many countries. The application fields are expected to be widen from 80's robotics for manufacturing to many applications such as military, space, medical, personal, etc. To reduce the R&D investment risk Technical Roadmap is prepared by Japan, Europe and Korea. In this paper, the technical Roadmap of the countries was analysed to get the idea of future of Robotics. Robotics is considered as one of solutions of future aged society. Robot can assist and company with elderly people in the near future. On the other hand, Robot is considered as a core technology of manufacturing competitive power. Industrial competitiveness also would be dependent on robot technology. Special Service robot has many application areas and each country has different target based on the situation. With the comparison of technical roadmap, we have suggested some ideas to improve Korea's roadmap.

  • We have developed the active matrix OLED displays with a high efficiency red emission material which uses an emitting assist (EA) dopant system. The EA dopant (rubrene) did not itself emit but assisted the energy transfer from the host ($Alq_s$) to the red emitting dopant(DCM2). A stable red emission (chromaticity coordinates: x=0.64, y=0.36) was obtained in this cell within the luminance range of 100 - 4000 $cd/m^2$ By using EA dopant system, we can realize the reduction of the power consumption of the OLED display..

  • Wheel chair bound persons need assistance since there are many steps or curbs or other obstacles blocking their path in the roadways and walkways. Although a step may be small, it may be very difficult for such a person to climb over it. Therefore, we are proposing a power assist wheel chair robot that enables a wheel chair bound person to climb over steps up to about 10 centimeters in height without assistance from others.   • This study developed the virtual operation system for the hydraulic pump system for marine usage. The scope of this study is to develop a process dynamic simulation model for the hydraulic pump system for marine usage, to investigate the process dynamic characteristics using the models, to accomplish the logic diagram for the PLC control and to achieve a human-machine interface (HMI) for the convenience of operators to monitor and control the process. The virtual operation system provides a virtual operation environment for the pumping system, enabling the operators to simulate the change of process variables. The system will assist in developing advanced control logics and then optimal design of the system.

  • Laser-welded Tailored Blank is the hottest thing in many automobile companies. But they demand on weld quality, reproducibility, and formability. So it is the great problem of automation of laser welding process. Therefore, it is requested to construct on-line process monitoring system on high accuracy. The light which is emitted from plasma and spatter in laser welding was detected by photo-diodes. It was found that the light intensity depends on welding speed. laser power, and flow rate of assist gas. The relationship between the plasma and spatter and the weld quality can be used for on-line laser weld monitoring systems.

  • An expert system is developed for rational and efficient design of multi-component injection molding which is a fairly new manufacturing technique to produce plastic parts by injecting two or more materials sequentially using multiple injection units in a single machine into a single rotary mold. The knowledge base used in the present design system is primarily composed of two parts ; knowledge from domain expert and knowledge from CAE analysis. The present expert system has hour main modules ; general design guidelines for injection molding specific guidelines for multi-component injection molding redesign guidelines from the result of the CAE analysis and finally troubleshooting for multi-component injection molding. To show the validity of the present design methodology two shop floor design problems were tested ; design and fabrication of timing belt cover and power window's assist knob by using multi-component injection molding.
