There are some methods that have been used to manage a degasing process in recent years, such as an injection method that uses aluminum molten metal powder and chemicals supplier and input method that supplies argon and nitrogen, or chlorine gas by using a gas blow-tube. However, these methods show some problems, and it shows that it is a difficult process to handle, pollution due to producing a lot of toxic gases like chlorine and fluoride gas, irregular effects, and lowering work efficiency due to the excessive processing time. The problems that are the most fatal are the producing a lot of sludge due to the reaction of aluminum molten metal with chemicals, loss of metals, and decreasing the life of refractory materials. In order to solve these problems, this paper develops a technology that is related to aluminum continuous casting molten metal and monolithic degasing apparatus. A degasing apparatus developed in this study improved the existing methods and prevented environmental pollution with smokeless, odorless, and harmlessness by using a new method that applies argon and nitrogen gas in which the methods used in the West and Japan are eliminated. The method developed in this study decreases the molten metal processing and settling time compared to the existing methods and improves the workers' health, safety, and environment because there is no pollution in processes.
Dry film method for large size of PDP(Plasma Display Panel) module has been actively investigated. This method for lead-free transparent dielectric formation depends on green sheet technology. By adjusting the composition of transparent dielectric powders and organics, uniformly dispersed slurry was fabricated, Viscosity of the slurry exhibited pseudoplastic behavior for tape casting, Cast green sheets were tested under tensile condition at room temperature. It was found that the increase in transparent dielectric powder and binder ratio leads to decrease in strain to failure of green sheets from 120 % to 34 % and from 255 % to 4 %, respectively. Tensile strength of green sheets decreased abruptly with increase of transparent dielectric powder ratio, with minimum at 0.13 MPa. On the other hand, tensile strength increased continuously from 0.1 MPa to 2.4 MPa with increase of binder ratio. The green sheets were attached on the glass substrate and heated by following firing schedule. As a result, the best result was obtained when fired at 580 $^{\circ}C$ for 15 min and had transmittance of 78 % in visible range 550 nm.
In the present study,($10%Al_2O_3+5%Si$)/AZ91 Mg hybrid composite was fabricated using the squeeze casting method. During squeeze casting, Molten Mg was infiltrated into the preform of $10%Al_2O_3+5%Si$ and reaction product of $Mg_2Si$ intermetallic compound was formed by the reaction between molten Mg and Si Powder. Microstructure has been observed and mechanical properties were evaluated for the reaction squeeze cast(RSC) hybrid composite. It was found that Si powder totally reacted with molten Mg to form $Mg_2Si$. Reinforcement($Al_2O_3$) and the reaction product ($Mg_2Si$) are fairly uniformly distributed in Mg Matrix for the squeeze cast hybrid composite. Mechanical Properties were improved with hybridization of reinforcements, namely higher hardness and enhanced wear resistance comparing squeeze cast($15%Al_2O_3$)/AZ91 Mg composite.
A thick film of $Li_7La_3Zr_2O_{12}$ (LLZO) solid-state electrolyte is fabricated using the tape casting process and is compared to a bulk specimen in terms of the density, microstructure, and ion conductivity. The final thickness of LLZO film after sintering is $240{\mu}m$ which is stacked up with four sheets of LLZO green films including polymeric binders. The relative density of the LLZO film is 83%, which is almost the same as that of the bulk specimen. The ion conductivity of a LLZO thick film is $2.81{\times}10^{-4}S/cm$, which is also similar to that of the bulk specimen, $2.54{\times}10^{-4}S/cm$. However, the microstructure shows a large difference in the grain size between the thick film and the bulk specimen. Although the grain boundary area is different between the thick film and the bulk specimen, the fact that both the ion conductivities are very similar means that no secondary phase exists at the grain boundary, which is thought to originate from nonstoichiometry or contamination.

Recent developments in nanocrystalline and nanocomposite rare earth-transition metal magnets are reviewed and emphasis is placed on research work at IFW Dresden. Principal synthesis methods include high energy ball milling, melt spinning, mold casting and hydrogen assisted methods such as reactive milling and hydrogenation-disproportionation-desorption-recombination. These techniques are applied to NdFeB-, PrFeB- and SmCo-type systems with the aim to produce high remanence magnets with high coercivity. Concepts of maximizing the energy density in nanostructured magnets by either inducing a texture via anisotropic HDDR or hot deformation or enhancing the remanence via magnetic exchange coupling are evaluated. With respect to high temperature applications melt spun $Sm(Co_{0.74}Fe_{0.1}Cu_{0.12}Zr_{0.04})_{7.5}$ ribbons were prepared, which showed coercivities of up to 0.53 T at 50$0^{\circ}C$. Partially amorphous $Nd_{60}Fe_xCo_{30-x}Al_{10}(0{\leq}x{\leq}30)$ alloys were prepared by copper mold casting. The effect of transition metal content on the glass-forming ability and the magnetic properties was investigated. The $Nd_{60}Co_{30}Al_{10}$ alloy exhibits an amorphous structure shown by the corresponding diffraction pattern. A small substitution of Co by 2.5 at.% Fe results In the formation of Fe-rich crystallites embedded in the Nd-rich amorphous matrix. The Fe-rich crystallites show hard magnetic behaviour at room temperature with a coercivity value of about 0.4 T, relatively low saturation magnetization and a Curie temperature of 500 K.
Purpose: When casting of ceramics, proper amount of deflocculant was added for disperse the particles in slip. In this study, examined the optimum amount of APMA(ammonium polymethaacrylate) water as deflocculant for casting the zirconia. Methods: The 100 g of zirconia powder were ball milled with 300 g zirconia ball, 90 g of distilled water, and APMA water in polyethylene pot for 24 hours. The amount of APMA water were added as deflocculant from 0.5 to 0.9 g at an intervals of 0.1 g. The viscosity of slip with no deflocculant showed 1362c.p. and the minimum viscosity with 580c.p. obtained when the slip contained 0.7% of deflocculant. Bar type specimens were casted with plaster mold and biscuit fired at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 1 hours. Biscuit fired specimens were finished with $60mm(L){\times}14mm(W){\times}10mm(H) bar$. Finished specimens were 2nd fired at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. Results: Regardless the addition of deflocculant, all 2nd fired specimens showed 0% of apparent porosity and water absorption. The specimens with no deflocculant showed 24% of drying shrinkage and 27.4% firing shrinkage. On the other hand, The specimens with deflocculant showed 17.4% of drying shrinkage and 17.6% firing shrinkage regardless the amount of deflocculant. The maximum bulk density with $6.09g/cm^3$ obtained when the specimens casted with 0.7~0.9% of deflocculant contained slips. Bend strength of specimen with no deflocculant showed 680 MPa and the maximum bend strength with 814 MPa obtained when the specimen casted with 0.7% of diflocculant contained slip. Conclusion : It was found that the particle shape of the powder according to the dispersing agent is added, the particle size, sintering temperature and affect the particle size distribution, sintering time, sintering atmosphere, such a great influence on the sintering.
Squeeze casting was used for fabricating a light metal base composite having high strength and wearresistance. Reactive sintering was used to prepare the preform of Squeeze casting. To utilize Fe-Al intermetallic compounds and SiC particle as a reinforcement, there needs to prepare Fe-Al mixed powder at 50, 60, 70at.%Al, and add SiC powder to the above mixture at 4, 7, 16, 24wt.%. The prepared mixture with SiC was reactive sintered in a tube furnace at $660^{\circ}C$ to get a porous hybrid preform of intermetallic compound and SiC. The preform prepared above was placed in a metal mold, preheated at $660^{\circ}C$ AC4C matrix was injected into the mold with the temperature of the melt at $610^{\circ}C$ After these processes, 66MPa was applied to the mold for 5 minute to finish the whole procedure. The maximum reaction temperature was increased with the increased Al amount, but decreased with the increased SiC amount. The density of the preform was decreased with SiC amount increase in the compacts due to swelling of the preform. An optical microscope was applied to observe the micro structure and the dispersion of the reinforcements. To analyze phases, We utilized XRD, EDS. Hardness test were chosen to get the information of mechanical properties. There were no significant changes in micro structure between the composite and preform. However, it was shown that uniform dispersion of the reinforcers and complete infiltration of the melt into the preform were achieved through the procedure of the squeeze casting. It was observed that the hardness of the composite is decreased with increased SiC amount, resulting from the volumetric expansion of the preform.
During rolling, rolling mill rolls endure wear when shaping metal billets into a desired form, such as bars, plates, and shapes. Such wear affects the lifespan of the rolls and product quality. Therefore, in addition to rigidity, wear performance is a key factor influencing the performance of rolling mill rolls. Conventional methods such as casting and forging have been used to manufacture rolling mill rolls. However, powder alloying methods are increasingly being adopted to enhance wear resistance. These powder manufacturing methods include atomization, canning to shape the powder, hot isostatic pressing to combine the powder alloy with conventional metals, and various wear performance tests on rolls prepared with powder alloys. In this study, numerical simulations and experimental tests were used to develop and elucidate the wear analysis mechanism of rolling mill rolls. The wear characteristics of the rolls under various rolling conditions were analyzed. In addition, experimental tests (wear and surface analysis tests) and wear theory (Archard wear model) were used to evaluate wear. These tests were performed on two different materials in various powder states to evaluate the different aspects of wear resistance. In particular, this study identifies the factors influencing the wear behavior of rolling mill rolls and proposes an analytical approach based on the actual production of products. The developed wear analysis mechanism can serve the future development of rolls with high wear resistance using new materials. Moreover, it can be applied in the mechanical and wear performance testing of new products.

Purpose: Zirconia blocks for all ceramic dentures are divided into two groups. One is pre-heated block and the other is binder added block. In this study, the possibility of recycling the remained parts of binder added block after CAD/CAM machining with slip casting process was investigated. Methods: Owing to the binder added block contain large amount of organic matter, Binder burn-out was must be carried out before ball milling for preparing the casting slip. Binder burn-out was accomplished at $600^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours. Ball milling was performed with 5mm zirconia ball and 60mm polyethylene bottle. From 0% to 5% at 1% intervals of alumina was added to zirconia powder for preparing slip. Solid casting was achieved with plaster mold. Cast bodies were dried and sintered at $1,500^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. Linear shrinkage, apparent porosity, water absorption, bulk density, and flexural strength were tested. Microstructures were observed by SEM, EDS and XRD analysis were executed. Results: Optimum slips for casting was prepared with 300g ball, 100g powder, and 180g distilled water. Cast body without alumina showed 26% of linear shrinkage, 6.07 of apparent density, and 470MPa of three point bend strength. On the other hand, as received zirconia block, which was sintered at the same conditions, showed 23% of linear shrinkage, 6.10 of apparent density, and 680MPa of three point bend strength. When 3% of alumina was added to zirconia, sintered body showed 23% of linear shrinkage, 6.10 of apparent density, and 780MPa of three point bend strength. SEM photomicrographs and EDS analysis showed alumina particles uniformly dispersed in zirconia matrix, and XRD analysis showed no phase transformation of tetragonal zirconia particles was occurred when alumina was added. Conclusion: According to the all of this experimental results, 3% of alumina added cast zirconia body showed excellent mechanical properties more than as received binder containing zirconia block.
