The Effect of Teaching Program with Frayer model on Learning Motive and Learning Achievement of 6th Grade Elementary Science Learning (초등학교 6학년 과학과에서 프레어모형을 활용한 수업이 학습동기와 학업 성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, to raise the interest and curiosity of students and at the same time to learn science concepts meaningfully for students, the teaching and learning program was developed by applying the Frayer model. The purpose of this study was to find out the Effect of Elementary Science Teaching Program with Frayer model on Learning Motive and Learning Achievement. To this end, the 6th grade classroom of A-elementary school located in Seogwipo-city was selected the experimental group (26 patients). And the other 6th grade classroom in the same school was selected to the comparative group (27 patients). The experimental group was conducted applying the Frayer model. Comparison group has been conducted lesson program in accordance with the general science class teacher guide. Was through a pre-test of science learning motivation and academic achievement level can be assumed in the same group. After completing the experimental treatment by conducting a post-mortem examination was statistically validated. In this study, the following conclusions were obtained. First, elementary science class which applied Frayer model had the effect of to improve the scientific motivation. In particular, attention (p <.01), association (p <.01), confidence (p <.01) in the experimental group were higher than the scores of the comparative group, the difference was significant. Second, the Frayer model applied to elementary science class had a significant effect on improving science achievement. The experimental group which applied Frayer model was higher than the comparative group in science achievement post-test comparison. Between the groups showed a significant difference between the two groups (p <.01). The above findings, Elementary science class which applied Frayer model can be concluded to be effective in science and science achievement motivation. Therefore, applying the Frayer model of elementary science class could be useful in science teaching and learning methods. In addition, when it is determined through the previous study, applying the Frayer model classes will be able to derive a meaningful learning also subjected to a number of fields and areas.

  • Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) is an extremely toxic gas frequently produced during the incineration of plastics, such as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS). A victim of a fire who has inhaled smoke could have cyanide in the blood. Therefore, cyanide could be a good marker for a post-mortem examination of a fire as well as carboxyhemoglobine (COHb) test of blood samples. For a particular fire case, a burned body with a suicide note was found inside a burned vehicle. Even though the COHb value is conclusive evidence, measuring the COHb for denatured blood might be difficult due to severe thermal denaturation or the formation of methemoglobin (MetHb). To overcome this difficulty, cyanide could be used as an indicator when investigating the death of a fire victim. In this study, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) was adopted to measure the levels of cyanide in the blood through derivatization with pentafluorobenzyl bromide (PFBBr) under cation surfactant by scan and SIM mode. The concentration of cyanide in the blood of heart blood and brain of the victim was found to be 0.36 µg/mL and 1.20 µg/mL respectively, which was higher than the average value (0.041 µg/mL) found in the blood of 14 people who smoked.

  • Pulmonary mucormycosis is a very rare but often fatal opportunistic fungal infection caused by the order Mucorales in class Zygomycetes. Reported overall mortality exceeds 70% and the diagnosis is often made post-mortem. We experienced 2 cases of typical form of pulmonary mucormycosis. One patient was a poorly controlled diabetic and the other suffered from acute Iymphocytic leukemia (ALL). The former was diagnosed by a bronchoscopic biopsy and the latter by a pathologic examination from the percutaneous drain of a subphrenic abscess. Both of them underwent a surgical excision of the involved lung tissue. The patient with diabetes mellitus was successfully treated by surgical resection and discharged without complications. The other with ALL underwent a second operation and was transferred to the department of internal medicine for further management of his relapse of lettkemia. Recent literat re suggests that early aggressive diagnostic effort and treatment including surgical resection in the case of localized forms of the disease results in a good prognosis.

Bovine Tuberculosis of Korean Native Cattle in an Abattoir (도축장 내의 한우에서 발견된 소 결핵 보고)

  • Bovine tuberculosis is generally detected postmortem because it is a chronic debilitating disease. Since tuberculosis is mainly found in the lungs, clinical signs including coughing, nasal discharge, and difficulty breathing can occur in severe instances. In the present study, specimens were collected from the heart, liver, kidney, lung, pleural cavities, lymph nodes and intestines of carcasses found in an abattoir. According to post-mortem examination and inspection of carcasses, tuberculosis lesions were varied in appearance and size. Tubercles of a white cream color were disseminated throughout the pleural cavity including the lymph nodes, lungs and mesentery containing pus. Gram and Ziehl-Neelsen's acid-fast staining for the lung and lymph nodes revealed a highly positive histochemical reaction. The acid-fast organisms were observed histologically in the lesions under a microscope. This report demonstrated the histopathology of bovine tuberculosis based on the histological findings of Mycobacterium bovis, which is a suspected causative agent.

Adequacy of Source to Image Receptor Distance with Chest Postero-Anterior Projection in Digital Radiology System (디지털방사선 환경에서 흉부 후-전 방향 검사 시 초점과 영상수용체간 거리의 적절성)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate propriety of using SID 180cm at Chest PA examination and to find effect of geometrical cause to the image. XGEO-GC80, INNOVISION-SH, CXDI-40EG detector and a chest phantom designed self-production was used for this study. Images were acquired at SID 180cm with changing the factor OID as 0, 75 and 83mm and were analyzed by Centricity Radiography RA1000 PACS system. Statistical program was used the SPSS (Version 22.0, SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA), p-value(under 0.05) was considered to be statistically significant. In OID 0 mm was enlarged about 2.7~3.5 mm than the actual degree of the HS, BS of phantom in all equipments. Compared with the calculated magnification has been expanded 1.6~2.8% when viewed. The OID 75 mm with OID 83 mm was extended from the CS and BS 6~8 mm range. Compared to the calculated values, the measured values are expanded from 6.1 to 7.9%. CS and BS according to the OID change showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) among each group, the post-analysis only OID 0 mm group appeared as an independent group, 75 mm and 83 mm are separated in the same group It was. But had no statistically significant difference could change depending on the OID (p>0.05), post-mortem analysis showed, both in the same group. Heart sizes appears larger than actual size 6~8 mm at chest PA examination which is enlarged 6.1~7.9% more than the actual theoretical value. We can find magnification of the image because of the increase of the OID due to technical limitations between cover of standing detector and the image plate. so we suggest to have occurred between them when considering the need to adjust the equipment installed by the SID to match the characteristics of the equipment.

Effects of Concentrate Feeding on Rumen Papillae Development in Hanwoo Calves before Weaning (이유 전 농후사료 (무조사료) 급여가 한우 송아지의 반추위 유두 발달에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of concentrate feeding on rumen papillae development in suckling Hanwoo calves before weaning (60 days of age). Twenty-four Hanwoo calves (12 heifers and 12 bulls) at six days of age were randomly assigned to one of three dietary treatments [hay and two levels (low and high) of concentrate feeding] and given each diet with free access to their dams for suckling until 60 days of age. At 60 days of age, two calves from each treatment were sacrificed and used for post-mortem examination of rumen papillae development. Feed intake between 31 and 60 days of age was significantly higher (P<0.05) for the high concentrate treatment (380.2 g/d) than for other treatments (58.3 and 76.9 g/d for hay and low concentrate treatments, respectively). Although feed intake showed a large difference between the low and high concentrate treatments, body weights at birth and 60 days of age were similar between the two treatments, suggesting that calves in the low concentrate feeding suckled more milk from their dams than those in the high concentrate feeding. The ratio of reticulo-rumen weight to body weight at 60 days of age was significantly increased (P<0.05) in the high concentrate (1.39%), compared with those in the hay (0.85%) and low concentrate (1.06%) treatments. Furthermore, the high concentrate feeding significantly increased both rumen papillae length and width, compared with the hay and low concentrate feeding group. This was also detected clearly by visual observation. The blood concentration of ${\beta}$-hydroxybutyrate was significantly higher for the high concentrate (176.4 ${\mu}mol/L$) than for other treatments (58.9 and 59.2 ${\mu}mol/L$ for the hay and the low concentrate group, respectively). In conclusion, the results of the present study showed that, to achieve a large development of rumen papillae before weaning (60 days of age) in suckling Hanwoo calves, the amount of concentrate intake should be important. And also the results implied that hay might not be included in the diet for suckling Hanwoo calves before weaning (60 days of age).

Effects of Feeding Concentrate on Development of Intestinal Tract and Composition of Muscle in Hanwoo Calves before Weaning (이유 전 농후사료(무조사료) 급여가 한우 송아지의 장관발달 및 근육 성분에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study was conducted to investigate effects of feeding concentrate on development of intestinal tract and composition of muscle in suckling Hanwoo calves before weaning(60 days of age). Twenty-four Hanwoo calves(12 heifers and 12 bulls) at six days of age were randomly assigned to one of three dietary treatments[hay and two levels(low and high) of concentrate feeding] and given each diet with free access to their dams for suckling until 60 days of age. At 60 days of age, two calves from each treatment were used for post-mortem examination of intestine development and chemical analysis of muscle. Feed intake between 31 and 60 days of age was significantly(P<0.05) higher for the high concentrate treatment(532.4g/d) than for other treatments(78.9 and 108.9g/d for hay and low concentrate treatments, respectively). Although feed intake showed a large difference between the low and high concentrate treatments, body weights at birth and 60 days of age were similar between the treatments, suggesting that calves in the low concentrate feeding were supplied more milk from their dams than those in the high concentrate feeding. The ratio of intestine weight to body weight at 60 days of age was increased in the high concentrate(3.35%), compared with those in the hay(2.93%) and low concentrate(3.03%) treatments. The chemical composition of muscle in sirloin and hind leg was not affected by the treatments. In conclusions, the results of the present study showed that feeding concentrate to Hanwoo calves before weaning might stimulate intestine development relative to feeding hay.
