  • This study is intended to examine the common features of costume images in science-fiction (SF) movies that deal with current socio-cultural situations by examining their themes and tones about the future it can be generally concluded that costume images of SF movies are divided into two patterns : one inheriting traditional styles constructed on linear progress and the other based on dismantiling the tradition. this analysis is made through the research of actual cinematic contexts on the common features of multiple styles shaping the two patterns of costume images. The results can be summarized as the following: The former is related with the future built up on the basis of belief in reasonal progress rooted in the Enlightenment reasonable plan for ideal social order and strong faith in uniformity. So It shows functional uniformity disregarding wasteful competitiveness in consumption and luxuriousness and clothing that has the aesthetic value of purity without emphasizing human body or sensuality are presented. On the other hand SF movies which show the uncertain costume image as the meaning of dismantling of tradition take up a rather critical view of assumption that society can move toward utopian future as it searches future images in the notion of hetero-topia by emphasizing pluralism consequently as for clothing diversity and uncertainty in post-modern style are presented destroying modernistic dichotomy and the assumption of Utopian clothing made in the notion of modern progressivism.

A new paradigm for the 21st century, the Internet and ubiquitous, and mobile devices are being created by the new culture is being created. Rapidly being replaced by digital and analog, and 'Digilog' fusion concept has appeared. In addition, the development of computer cyberspace culture, art, design and structure are changing. In the field of furniture design, changing design processes and innovative design philosophy that change is now occurring. These symptoms experienced at the same time, almost every country on Earth is a phenomenon. Since the 20th century, computer network design based on the relationship between digital and cyber culture espoused by philosophers studied society and organic modernism and organic design of digital-based differences are confirmed through the case. • If we take account of the Architectural Tradition which aims a construction of better environment, we can see that this tradition has ended historically toward Utopia. It is a continual trend from ancient to contemporary epoch especially in each transitional periods. Utopia is an ideal commonwealth in which inhabitants exist under perfect conditions, ideally perfect places or state of things. But, Dystopia implies skeptical perspective on the future which has emerged as a result of the increasing awareness about crisis concerning negative aspects highlighted by progress of science and technology since Modern era. Dystopia is the opposite of Utopia which was a propaganda used by Modern architecture and has characteristics of Post-Modernity. Utopias plans are complete projects of image, its goal is an improvement according to the eras. Its plans are characterized by rigid geometrical pattern as circle and square, which contain generally center·axis·enclosure·boundary·symmetry. Recent architectural circumstances no longer reflect utopian visions. Dystopias plans have described extreme mechanism, destructive offense, expression of fragmentation and differentiation in contemporary architecture. Therefore, as the Utopian architecture describes characteristics of the era unlike the continuity of its concept, the Dystopian architecture will find its expression differently while maintaining its basic concept and intention.

  • Proceedings in a new field of sciences and technologies like genetic engineering challenge to conventional concepts. It demonstrates a certain disappearance in conventional concepts that dominants our perceptions, such as organic, mechanical, and dichotomic concept of informative materials, and that is to be extended as a potential possibility. Then, what is a new space where our bodies that feel and cherish in their mind should live in these days as well as it makes senses by itself and should affect the principle that makes worlds? In addition, this study proposes a frame in the analysis in order to understand a section of modern designs with the question of 'what is the change in the relationship between relative structures in spaces and objects from a design point of view according to new structural concepts of body?' The major point of this analysis can be realized based on the assumption of the extension of the characteristics in the change of structural relationship in the aspect of post structuralism that includes non-structuralized relationship represented in modern philosophy, arts, and architectural works. Then, it can be accomplished as positive ideas in the foundation of space designs in future including the understand of 'new structural relationship' that can't be expressed as rationality and causal sequence by considering how the experiment conducted using several topics on body can be projected onto spaces through the process applied in the experiment.

  • A variety of attempts for trends to overcome the limits of the uniform styles and a fixed dichotomous structure and thoughts, have been made. This research aims to apply and analyze the application of concepts of the liminal space of contemporary architecture based on the destructive inclination of post-structuralism and the theories of philosophers. Space of the past was recognized for a long time focused on functions and styles that support the building. In modern and contemporary spaces, however, the boundary of contemporary space has been blurred with the mingling of cultural phenomenon. In other words, new architectural approaches of expression have been attempted such as structure, styles and materials, in combination of diversified concepts. And, the concept of liminal space is useful to identify the multi-layered and fluid characteristics. This study examines various characteristics of expression on the liminal space characteristics of comtemporary architecture tbased on Herzog and de Meuron's architecture. The result will help us understand the expression and characteristics of the liminal space that belongs nowhere among their architectural spaces. The analysis of the ases of Herzog and de Meuron will play a crucial role in developing new possibilities of modern space and contemporary space of the future.

  • Post-modern period differentiates itself from Modern period in many aspects. One of these is the emphasis on phenomena which are ephemeral and changing. This paper looks at the psychological bases of these expressions of time & change in contemporary design and their affordances on human behavior. It also analyzes the types of time & change design on the basis of the behaviors they afford. This will lead us to the understanding of how the design including time & change expresses the spirit of the age and how it can play positive roles in human psychology.

  • This thesis examines the shape, organization, background, and significance of the classroom space in highly appraised elementary schools since the inauguration of public education in modern times in the fields of education or architecture. This thesis acknowledges that classroom shapes comprise an auditorium-like space for a large-scale study group, a square-shaped classroom designed for simultaneous teaching for single class, and bent and L-shaped classrooms for various learning activities. Whereas the square-shaped classroom for simultaneous teaching which has lasted until now evolved around 1870, the post-1930s era witnessed the emergence of a composition in which classroom and outside space are associated, of an atypical classroom, and of Functional Unit where common space and classrooms are assembled. It is deemed that the emergence of the atypical classroom comes from the reinterpretation of learning and space pursuant to progressive pedagogical philosophy and child development theories and functional architecture theories. Thus, this thesis verifies that school construction and learning space can be newly created and the synthesis between education, child development studies, and architecture is a prerequisite to such a creation.

The result of image analysis of black female fashion models, can be summarized as following five images. The first is the image of 'powerful'. Black female models frequently represent healthy image which reflects black people's excellence in sports and also the traditional Image of black skin color as strength. Black models represent cultures besides the western. The fourth is the image of 'fantastic'. In contrast to the real, resonable things, black female models represent wild, fancy, ghost things. The fifth is the image of 'racial discrimination' By arranging them in contrast to whites, a metaphoric image of racial discrimination can be displayed. The result shows that tome of racial images still remain on the other way.
