The Global Positioning System(GPS) is a worldwide radio navigation system based on satellite technology. Signal availability and accuracy of GPS are subject to change due to an incomplete constellation and operational test activities. In order to analyze the signal availability and accuracy of GPS, we made an experiment on this system in Kunsan during April 6, 7, 9, 10, 1992. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. It was possible to avail the GPS system almost 24 hours per day, but sometimes it was impossible to obtain the GPS signal 2 or 3 times per day and its total time was at the most an hour. 2. By using satellite almanac, we also could calculate PDOP(HDOP) and forecast signal availability. And the mean positional error was $37.9{\sim}73.6m$ and standard deviation was $37.4{\sim}133.1m$. The positional error almost coincided with PDOP(HDOP). 3. The mean positional error of 3D was less than that of 2D. And the altitude error in 3D was about $56{\sim}74m$ and its standard deviation was about $65{\sim}93m$.
PURPOSE. A recently introduced direct drill-guiding implant surgery system features minimal tolerance of surgical instruments in the metal sleeve by using shank-modified drills and a sleeve-incorporated stereolithographic guide template. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of this new guided surgery system in partially edentulous patients using geometric analyses. MATERIALS AND METHODS. For the study, 21 implants were placed in 11 consecutive patients using the direct drill-guiding implant surgery system. The stereolithographic surgical guide was fabricated using cone-beam computed tomography, digital scanning, computer-aided design and computer-assisted manufacturing, and additive manufacturing processes. After surgery, the positional and angular deviations between planned and placed implants were measured at the abutment level using implant-planning software. The Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to compare the deviations (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The mean horizontal deviations were 0.593 mm (SD 0.238) mesiodistally and 0.691 mm (SD 0.344) buccolingually. The mean vertical deviation was 0.925 mm (SD 0.376) occlusogingivally. The vertical deviation was significantly larger than the horizontal deviation (P=.018). The mean angular deviation was 2.024 degrees (SD 0.942) mesiodistally and 2.390 degrees (SD 1.142) buccolingually. CONCLUSION. The direct drill-guiding implant surgery system demonstrates high accuracy in placing implants. Use of the drill shank as the guiding component is an effective way for reducing tolerance.

For the study of the temporomandibular joint in rheumatoid arthritis 30 patients were selected who were diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis through the clinical, radiographic examination and laboratory findings. Temporomandibular joint involvement was evaluated through the clinical, radiographic examination. The results were as follows; 1. TMJ was involved in 15 patients of 30 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. (50% involvement). 2. Duration of rheumatoid arthritis was more longer in patients with TMJ involvement than in patients without TMJ involvement. 3. Osseous changes in TMJ were in order of frequency erosion, flattening, osteophyte, sclerosis, deformity, and most common involved site was mandibular condyle. 4. Most common positional change of condyle was forward position in centric occlusion, and restricted movement of condyle in 1inch mouth opening. 5. TMJ involvement of rheumatoid arthritis was almost bilateral. 6. Main symptoms of TMJ were pain, stiffness, tenderness, limitation of mouth opening, crepitation 7. There was not the case of ankylosis. 8. There was statistically insignificant correlation between mandibular deviation and TMJ involvement, but some cases showed severe deviation on mouth opening.
Stepping motor normally operates without feedback and may loss the synchronization. This problem can be prevented by using positional feedback. This paper introduces one method for closed loop control of stepping motor and a method for combining full-step control and micro-step control. This combination controlling apparatus can perform position control with high accuracy in a high speed, so that it will not suffer from vibration (or hunting) problem when stopping motor. Controlling apparatus contains a position counter block for detecting rotor position of stepping motor, a driving block for supplying current to windings of stepping motor, a control block for comparing output signal of position counter block with command position (desired position) and outputting current command signal based on deviation between current position and command position of rotor. To output current command signal, the control block refers to a sine wave data table. This table contains value of duty cycle of Pulse Width Modulation signal. As the second object of this paper, the process of building this data table is also presented.

Purpose: After the surgical correction with sagittal split ramus osteotomy, the position of the mandibular condyle in the glenoid fossa and the proximal segment of the mandible change because of bony gap between proximal and distal segment, especially in case of mandibular setback asymmetrically. In this study, positional changes in the condyle and proximal segment after BSSRO were estimated in the mandibular asymmetry patient by analyzing the in submentovertex view and P-A cephalogram for identification of ideal condylar position during surgery. Patients and Methods: The 20 patients were selected randomly who visit Dankook Dental Hospital for mandibular asymmetry. Bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy with rigid fixation was performed and P-A cephalogram and submentovertex view was taken at the time of preoperative, immediate postoperative, 3 month postoperative period. Results: Intercondylar length and transverse condylar angle was increased due to inward rotation of proximal segment and anteromedial rotation of lateral pole of condyle head. The condylar position had a tendency to return to the preoperative state and after 3 months return up to about half of the immediate post-operative changes, and all the results showed more changes in asymmetry patient and deviated part of the mandible. Conclusion: Based on all these results above, surgeon should make efforts to have a precise preoperative analysis and to have a ideal condylar position during rigid fixation after BSSRO.

Recently, Hybrid Navigation Systems combining Omega, NNSS, Loran C and Dead reckoning etc. served to give us highly accurate ship's position, and a number of ships are equipped with these navigation systems. In order to evaluate for the accuracy of this navigation system observations of Loran C, 5970 and 9970 chains and Radar at the same time were made on board m.s Jeonbuk 401 and 403 training ships of Gunsan Fisheries Collage at nine stations in the yellow sea from July, 1982 to June, 1983, and then were done by the Hybrid Navigation System combining Dead reckoning and Loran C at the same areas. The authors investigated the accuracy of the Hybrid Navigation System based on measurements of the relative positional error which is defined as the difference between the position fixed by this system or the Loran C system, and the one by the Radar. The obtained results are as follows; 1. The mean standard deviation of the time difference of Loran C were about 0.21$\mu$s in 9970 chain and about 0.06$\mu$s in 5970 chain, and the fluctuation of the time difference of Loran C in 5970 chain was smaller than that in 9970 chain. 2. The positional error between two positions by Radar and the Hybrid Navigation System in 9970 chain was about 0.4 miles, and between two positions by Radar and Loran C was about 0.51 miles. The Hybrid Navigation System was therefore more accurate than Loran C System. 3. The positional error between two positions by Radar and Hybrid Navigation System in 5970 chain was about 0.4 miles, and between two positions by Radar and computer simulation of Loran C was about 0.98 miles. Consequently, Hybrid Navigation System was more accurate than computer simulation of Loran C system.

Background: The porion (Po) is used to construct the Frankfort horizontal (FH) plane for cephalometrics, and the external auditory meatus (EAM) is to transfer and mount the dental model with facebow. The classical assumption is that EAM represents Po by the parallel positioning. However, we are sometimes questioning about the possible positional disparity between Po and EAM, when the occlusal cant or facial midline is different from our clinical understandings. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the positional parallelism of Po and EAM in facial asymmetries, and also to investigate their relationship with the maxillary occlusal cant. Methods: The 67 subjects were classified into three groups. Group I had normal subjects with facial symmetry ($1.05{\pm}0.52mm$ of average chin deviation) with minimal occlusal cant (<1.5 mm). Asymmetry group II-A had no maxillary occlusal cant (average $0.60{\pm}0.36$), while asymmetry group II-B had occlusal cant (average $3.72{\pm}1.47$). The distances of bilateral Po, EAM, and mesiobuccal cusp tips of the maxillary first molars (Mx) from the horizontal orbital plane (Orb) and the coronal plane were measured on the three-dimensional computed tomographic images. Their right and left side distance discrepancies were calculated and statistically compared. Results: EAM was located 10.3 mm below and 2.3 mm anterior to Po in group I. The vertical distances from Po to EAM of both sides were significantly different in group II-B (p=0.001), while other groups were not. Interside discrepancy of the vertical distances from EAM to Mx in group II-B also showed the significant differences, as compared with those from Po to Mx and from Orb to Mx. Conclusions: The subjects with facial asymmetry and prominent maxillary occlusal cant tend to have the symmetric position of Po but asymmetric EAM. Some caution or other measures will be helpful for them to be used during the clinical procedures.

In general, RGB, NIR, and thermal images are used for obtaining geospatial data. Such multiband images are collected via devices mounted on satellites or manned flights, but do not always meet users' expectations, due to issues associated with temporal resolution, costs, spatial resolution, and effects of clouds. We believe high-resolution, multiband images can be obtained at desired time points and intervals, by developing a payload suitable for a low-altitude, auto-piloted UAV. To achieve this, this study first established a low-cost, high-resolution multiband image collection system through developing a sensor and a payload, and collected geo-referencing data, as well as RGB, NIR and thermal images by using the system. We were able to obtain a 0.181m horizontal deviation and 0.203m vertical deviation, after analyzing the positional accuracy of points based on ortho mosaic images using the collected RGB images. Since this meets the required level of spatial accuracy that allows production of maps at a scale of 1:1,000~5,000 and also remote sensing over small areas, we successfully validated that the payload was highly utilizable.

This paper presents a control effectiveness analysis of the hawkmoth Manduca sexta. A multibody dynamic model of the insect that considers the time-varying inertia of two flapping wings is established, based on measurement data from the real hawkmoth. A six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) multibody flight dynamics simulation environment is used to analyze the effectiveness of the control variables defined in a wing kinematics function. The aerodynamics from complex wing flapping motions is estimated by a blade element approach, including translational and rotational force coefficients derived from relevant experimental studies. Control characteristics of flight dynamics with respect to the changes of three angular degrees of freedom (stroke positional, feathering, and deviation angle) of the wing kinematics are investigated. Results show that the symmetric (asymmetric) wing kinematics change of each wing only affects the longitudinal (lateral) flight forces and moments, which implies that the longitudinal and lateral flight controls are decoupled. However, there are coupling effects within each plane of motion. In the longitudinal plane, pitch and forward/backward motion controls are coupled; in the lateral plane, roll and side-translation motion controls are coupled.
