The registration is an important part of image processing and pattern recognition. In this paper, the integral projection method is proposed as the first stage of the two-stage template matching. The computation time of the proposed method is one-tenth of that of the two-stage template matching technique with a sub-template. This method is applied to a noisy (real)image with a different bias level and gives a correct template position, while the two-stage template matching technique with a sub-template cannot detect correctly.

In this paper, Fingerprint matching method which is able to confirm one's identity using microcomputer is discussed. In matching method, fingerprint image is thinned and we extracted feature point data which is composed of position and direction of end-point and branch-point. Identification is conducted by decision of disagreement between reference finger print and input fingerprint us ing this extracted data. After averaging and binariztion process, thining method is conducted. Restoration process is carried out to seek precise feature pointdatd. We compensate position difference of reference fingerprint and input fingerprint, which is divied end-point and branch-point, and translated and rotated its position. Using this compensdate difference of position, we decide whether fingerp-print identity is true or not.

In this paper, we deal with a real time implementation of the integrated image-based navigation parameter extraction system using the TMS320C80 MVP(multimedia video processor). Our system consists of relative position estimation and absolute position compensation, which is further divided into high-resolution aerial image matching, DEM(Digital elevation model) matching, and IRS (Indian remote sensing) satellite image matching. Those algorithms are implemented in real time using the MVP. To achieve a real-time operation, an attempt is made to partition the aerial image and process the partitioned images in parallel using the four parallel processors in the MVP. We also examine the performance of the implemented integrated system in terms of the estimation accuracy, confirming a proper operation of the our system.

Epitaxial ZnO nanowires (NWs) were synthesized on sapphire (001) substrates using a hydrothermal process. The effects of the pH value of the precursor solution on the structural and optical properties of the resulting NWs was studied. The epitaxial relationship and the domain matching configuration between the sapphire (001) substrate and the as-grown ZnO NWs were determined using synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements. The (002) plane of $w{\ddot{u}}rtzite$ ZnO NW grows in the surface normal direction parallel to the sapphire (001) direction. However, three types of in-plane domain matching configurations were observed, such as the on-position, $30^{\circ}$-rotated position, and ${\pm}8.5^{\circ}$-rotated position relative to the on-position, which might be attributed to inheriting the in-plane domain configuration of the ZnO seed layer.
Recently in the field of GIS(Geographic Information System), data integration from various sources has become an important topic in order to use spatial data effectively. In general, the integration of spatial data is accomplished by navigating corresponding space object and combining the information interacting with each object. But it is very difficult to navigate an object which has correspondence with one in another dataset. Many matching methods have been studied for navigating spatial object. The purpose of this paper is development of method for searching correspondent spatial object considering local position error which is remained even after coordinate transform ation when two different building data sets integrated. To achieve this goal, we performed coordinate transformation and overlapped two data sets and generated blocks which have similar position error. We matched building objects within each block using similarity and ICP algorithm. Finally, we tested this method in the aspect of applicability.

This paper contains a precise calibration technique for the position of seabed acoustic target and theoretical error analysis of calibration results. The target is deployed on seabed as a standalone transponder. The purpose of target is performing accuracy test for active sonar as well as position calibration itself. For the position calibration, relative range between target and test vessel should be measured using target's transponder function. The relative range data combined with vessel position can be converted into a estimated position of target by the application of nonlinear LSE method. The error analysis of position calibration was divided into two stages. One is for relative range estimator and the other for target position estimator. Numerical simulations for position calibration showed good matching between results and developed CRLB.

We introduce a MEMS-based pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) system. A walking navigation algorithm for pedestrians is presented and map-matching algorithm for the navigation system based on dead reckoning (DR) is proposed. The PDR is equipped on the human body and provides the position information of pedestrians. And this is able to be used in ubiquitous sensor network (USN), U-hearth monitoring system, virtual reality (VR) and etc. The PDR detects a step using a novel technique and simultaneously estimates step length. Also an azimuth of the pedestrian is calculated using a fluxgate which is the one of magnetometers. Map-matching algorithm can be formulated to integrate the positioning data with the digital road network data. Map-matching algorithm not only enables the physical location to be identified from navigation system but also improves the positioning accuracy. However most of map-matching algorithms which are developed previously are for the car navigation system (CNS). Therefore they are not appropriate to implement to pedestrian navigation system based on DR system. In this paper, we propose walking navigation system and map-matching algorithm for PDR.
In order for a service robot to perform several tasks, basically autonomous navigation technique such as localization, mapping, and path planning is required. The localization (estimation robot's pose) is fundamental ability for service robot to navigate autonomously. In this paper, we propose a new system for point pattern matching based visual global localization using spot lightings in ceiling. The proposed algorithm us suitable for system that demands high accuracy and fast update rate such a guide robot in the exhibition. A single camera looking upward direction (called ceiling vision system) is mounted on the head of the mobile robot and image features such as lightings are detected and tracked through the image sequence. For detecting more spot lightings, we choose wide FOV lens, and inevitably there is serious image distortion. But by applying correction calculation only for the position of spot lightings not whole image pixels, we can decrease the processing time. And then using point pattern matching and least square estimation, finally we can get the precise position and orientation of the mobile robot. Experimental results demonstrate the accuracy and update rate of the proposed algorithm in real environments.

This paper proposes an enhanced Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm based on matching laser image and Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). In general, laser information is one of the most efficient data for localization of mobile robots and is more accurate than encoder data. For localization of a mobile robot, moving distance information of a robot is often obtained by encoders and distance information from the robot to landmarks is estimated by various sensors. Though encoder has high resolution, it is difficult to estimate current position of a robot precisely because of encoder error caused by slip and backlash of wheels. In this paper, the position and angle of the robot are estimated by comparing laser images obtained from laser scanner with high accuracy. In addition, Speeded Up Robust Features (SURF) is used for extracting feature points at previous laser image and current laser image by comparing feature points. As a result, the moving distance and heading angle are obtained based on information of available points. The experimental results using the proposed laser slam algorithm show effectiveness for the SLAM of robot.
Objectives: It has been well documented that people on the lower socioeconomic position are significantly more likely to smoke cigarettes. The purposes of this study were (a) to identify a potential difference of socioeconomic factors, and (b) to compare a smoking rate, one of the most representative health behavior between people with/without disabilities after the controlling socioeconomic factors. Methods: The Korea Panel Survey of Employment for People of Disabilities (2012) and the Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey (2012) were employed for calculating the smoking rates of persons with/without disabilities. Results: The results demonstrated that the socioeconomic position indicators (education, occupation and household equivalent income) of persons with disabilities were lower than persons without disabilities. The smoking rates of the persons with/without disabilities were 35.9% and 19.0% respectively before propensity score matching. After propensity score matching with the socioeconomic factors, however, ATT of people with disabilities was 0.201 which is lower than ATT of people without disabilities (0.227). Conclusions: Our findings indicated that the socioeconomic level of persons with disabilities is important to improve the smoking rates and health level regardless of their disabilities.
