When comparing the port management type between the both countries, there are some differences at some aspects. And also Korea is to move forward a hub port and logistics center in Northeast Asia while Japan is to pursue providing the port logistics service necessary for the Japanese economy. Major findings and implications are as follows. First, Port authority system should be extended to Gwangyang and Pyeongtaek port step by step. Second, any port which did not introducing a port authority system should enhance cooperating with its own local administration. Third, a port marketing strategy must be established and implemented by a port authority.

Recently, 8,000TEU class containerships has started operating the shipping service and the mega-containership of over 10,000TEU is on planning. A unit cost in relation to shipping service is decreased by the bigger ship based on the economy of scale. Most of the previous studies have been performed and focused on the total operation cost from mega port to mega port. However, the purpose of this paper is to estimate economic efficiency of selected hub ports from point of view of total cost such as service cost(or operation cost), port charge and feeder cost, etc. First, the service-network of mega containerships is based on data of a domestic shipping company operated main line and economic analysis of individual scenarios on the cost and traffic when 10,000TEU mega containerships offer the services. The three scenarios presented in this paper set up the hub ports which are the port of Busan, Shanghai and Yokohama The results show that port of Busan is economically the most efficient one among others.

A range of problems rave risen as the results of the obligated charter service. Constant lack of operation improvement compared to regular routes and lower quality service are results of business practice by the service providers. lherefore, this study executed an actual research using AHP to present a method for improvement by investigating remote island clnrter service providers. Result shows tint the desirable method is to implement operation evaluation system to induce service providers to consistently put efforts on the operating system development.

A service platform was designed to provide smart aids to navigation services with the standardized format and to manage user authentication and access rights. To meet the requirements of the service platform, Keycloak, an open source OIDC implementation, was used for user authentication, and the S-100 feature catalogue versioning method was used for service management. To standardize internal service data to S-100, we designed a minimum standard format for mapping internal service data to S-100 data using JSON Schema.

Recently, the cluster-based industrial policy has become a powerful policy tool for strengthening the competitiveness of nations, industries and firms. The concept of cluster develops as firms choose to locate in each others proximity. Cluster concept can be usefully applied to analyze cluster of port-related activities. Port cluster can be used as a systematic foundation for providing one-stop value added logistics service to its customers. The main purpose of this paper is to suggest a way for establishing the port cluster in Korean seaport. For this aim, the paper defines a concept of port cluster and examines the its necessity. And the procedure for establishment of port cluster in Korea is proposed. In addition, the paper analyzed the port cluster structure-conduit-performance. Especially, the role of port cluster's participants, central and local government, universities and related R＆D institutes, and private companies, are suggested respectively. As a conclusion, policy suggestions for the establishment of port cluster in Korea are suggested.

The export/import processing systems of the foreign advanced port use the integrated database to increase the productivity of the users involved in the port and logistics activities. However all the port and logistics related organizations in Korea such as container terminal, customs, ministry of maritime affairs and fisheries, etc. are using their own databases, so it is very inconvenient to the users to process their export/import affairs. It is necessary to develop the integrated database for the port and logistics affairs to provide the one stop service to the port and logistics related users. So we have investigated and analyzed the databases of port and logistics related organizations, and recognized the users' various needs of information. And then we have suggested the conceptual architecture of integrated database for port and logistics, and proposed the strategies for successful development of the integrated database in this paper.

Recently, it becomes important for container ports to gain competitiveness through service differentiation strategies. These strategies require an objective evaluation on consumer needs. For that reason, this study aims at developing the scale and measurement methods for service quality. Container shipping companies calling at Busan are targeted for the empirical analyses. The measurement items are presented for the services that they are provided from entry into a port to departure from a port. Exploratory factor analysis and validity analysis are done to derive a service quality scale from entry to departure. The result of regression analysis implies that the service quality scale is useful to increase customer satisfaction and to establish managerial strategies.

Various studies on Port and Terminal have been conducted to gain the competitive advantage, but they are limited to the bulk terminal than container terminal. Therefore, the study is to analyze the service quality of bulk terminal. The study first finds attributes of bulk terminals through professional groups and brainstorm. This study analyzes the difference between the perception of the actors such as carriers, forwarders and shippers, using a bulk terminal. The result shows that all service quality factors have a significant effect on the satisfaction.

Across many industries, benchmarking is considered useful method to improve their service quality and achieve competitive advantage. Benchmarking, especially, has emerged as an increasingly important approach to improving the performance of logistics system and enables successful logistics services and doing good business in logistics services. There are no, however, literature approach for the relationship between benchmarking and port. It is the highest worth researching the application of benchmarking method on the port, since port is the most important component in supply Chain. Therefore, this paper tries to demonstrate the application of the benchmarking method on the port. To do this study, the literature approach developed by several researchers for logistics benchmarking is used as the basic framework. In addition, the following studies are executed: First, the survey of previous studies on logistics benchmarking. Second, finding the indicator and selecting the target in the port benchmarking. Third, the systematic execution schemes of the port benchmarking. Finally, based on the above studies, this paper provides a background for discussions on the future prospects for the application of the benchmarking method on the port.
