This manuscript work presents a comprehensive continuum model capable to investigate the effect of porosity on vibro-acoustic behaviour of functionally graded (FG) beams resting on an elastic foundation subjected to thermal and mechanical loadings. Effects of uniform temperature rise and edge compressive load on the sound radiation characteristics are studied in a comparative manner. The numerical analysis is carried out by combining finite element method with Rayleigh's integral. Detailed parametric studies are accomplished, and influences of power law index, porosity volume, porosity distribution and boundary conditions on the vibro-acoustic response characteristics are analyzed. It is found that the vibro-acoustic response under mechanical edge compression is entirely different compared to from that under the thermal load. Furthermore, nature of grading of porosity affects the sound radiation behaviour for both the loads. The proposed model can be used to obtain the suppression performance of vibration and noise FG porous beams under thermal and mechanical loads.

This article introduces a novel analytical model for examining the impact of porosity on shear correction factors (SCFs) in functionally graded porous beams (FGPB). The study employs uneven and logarithmic-uneven modified porosity-dependent power-law functions, which are distributed throughout the thickness of the FGP beams. Additionally, a modified exponential-power law function is used to estimate the effective mechanical properties of functionally graded porous beams. The correction factor plays a crucial role in this analysis as it appears as a coefficient in the expression for the transverse shear stress resultant. It compensatesfor the assumption that the shear strain is uniform across the depth of the cross-section. By applying the energy equivalence principle, a general expression for static SCFs in FGPBs is derived. The resulting expression aligns with the findings obtained from Reissner's analysis, particularly when transitioning from the two-dimensional case (plate) to the one-dimensional case (beam). The article presents a convenient algebraic form of the solution and provides new case studies to demonstrate the practicality of the proposed formulation. Numerical results are also presented to illustrate the influence of porosity distribution on SCFs for different types of FGPBs. Furthermore, the article validates the numerical consistency of the mechanical property changesin FG beams without porosity and the SCF by comparing them with available results.
Based on differential quadrature method (DQM) and nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT), forced vibrations of a porous functionally graded (FG) scale-dependent beam in thermal environments have been investigated in this study. The nanobeam is assumed to be in contact with a moving point load. NSGT contains nonlocal stress field impacts together with the microstructure-dependent strains gradient impacts. The nano-size beam is constructed by functionally graded materials (FGMs) containing even and un-even pore dispersions within the material texture. The gradual material characteristics based upon pore effects have been characterized using refined power-law functions. Dynamical deflections of the nano-size beam have been calculated using DQM and Laplace transform technique. The prominence of temperature rise, nonlocal factor, strain gradient factor, travelling load speed, pore factor/distribution and elastic substrate on forced vibrational behaviors of nano-size beams have been explored.
In this work, dynamic behavior of functionally graded (FG) porous nano-beams is studied based on nonlocal nth-order shear deformation theory which takes into the effect of shear deformation without considering shear correction factors. It has been observed that during the manufacture of "functionally graded materials" (FGMs), micro-voids and porosities can occur inside the material. Thus, in this work, the investigation of the dynamic analysis of FG beams taking into account the influence of these imperfections is established. Material characteristics of the FG beam are supposed to be vary continuously within thickness direction according to a "power-law scheme" which is modified to approximate material characteristics for considering the influence of porosities. A comparative study with the known results in the literature confirms the accuracy and efficiency of the current nonlocal nth-order shear deformation theory.
In this work, a new hyperbolic shear deformation beam theory is proposed based on a modified couple stress theory (MCST) to investigate the bending and free vibration responses of functionally graded (FG) micro beam made of porous material. This non-classical micro-beam model introduces the material length scale coefficient which can capture the size influence. The non-classical beam model reduces to the classical beam model when the material length scale coefficient is set to zero. The mechanical material properties of the FG micro-beam are assumed to vary in the thickness direction and are estimated through the classical rule of mixture which is modified to approximate the porous material properties with even and uneven distributions of porosities phases. Effects of several important parameters such as power-law exponents, porosity distributions, porosity volume fractions, the material length scale parameter and slenderness ratios on bending and dynamic responses of FG micro-beams are investigated and discussed in detail. It is concluded that these effects play significant role in the mechanical behavior of porous FG micro-beams.

An exact solution based on refined third-order theory (TOT) has been presented for functionally graded porous curved beams having deep curvature. The displacement field of the refined TOT is derived by imposing the shear free conditions at the outer and inner surfaces of curved beams. The properties of the two phase composite are tailored according the power law rule and the effective properties are computed using Mori-Tanaka homogenization scheme. The equations of motion as well as consistent boundary conditions are derived using the Hamilton's principle. The curved beam stiffness coefficients (A, B, D) are obtained numerically using six-point Gauss integration scheme without compromising the accuracy due to deepness (1 + z/R) terms. The porosity has been modeled assuming symmetric (even) as well as asymmetric (uneven) distributions across the cross section of curved beam. The programming has been performed in MATLAB and is validated with the results available in the literature as well as 2D finite element model developed in ABAQUS. The effect of inclusion of 1 + z/R terms is studied for deflection, stresses and natural frequencies for FG curved beams of different radii of curvature. Results presented in this work will be useful for comparison of future studies.
In this paper thermo-mechanical vibration analysis of a porous functionally graded (FG) Timoshenko beam in thermal environment with various boundary conditions are performed by employing a semi analytical differential transform method (DTM) and presenting a Navier type solution method for the first time. The temperature-dependent material properties of FG beam are supposed to vary through thickness direction of the constituents according to the power-law distribution which is modified to approximate the material properties with the porosity phases. Also the porous material properties vary through the thickness of the beam with even and uneven distribution. Two types of thermal loadings, namely, uniform and linear temperature rises through thickness direction are considered. Derivation of equations is based on the Timoshenko beam theory in order to consider the effect of both shear deformation and rotary inertia. Hamilton's principle is applied to obtain the governing differential equation of motion and boundary conditions. The detailed mathematical derivations are presented and numerical investigations are performed while the emphasis is placed on investigating the effect of several parameters such as porosity distributions, porosity volume fraction, thermal effect, boundary conditions and power-low exponent on the natural frequencies of the FG beams in detail. It is explicitly shown that the vibration behavior of porous FG beams is significantly influenced by these effects. Numerical results are presented to serve benchmarks for future analyses of FG beams with porosity phases.

This paper is concerned with the buckling behavior of 2D and quasi-3D problem of functionally graded nanobeam founded on high order shear deformation beams theory and made by two different types of porous distribution materials in Nano- and micro-scales. The used Quasi-3D formulation takes into account the transverse shear effect and uses only three variables. Both formulations do not include the correction factor that is required in the first shear deformation theory proposed by Timoshenko. Governing equations are derived using the principle of virtual work. Analytical resolutions for buckling of FG nanobeam are introduced under tow different boundary conditions, and the results obtained are compared to those proposed in literatures.

This work presents an analytical approach to investigate wave propagation in bi-directional functionally graded cantilever porous beam. The formulations are based on Touratier's higher-order shear deformation beam theory. The physical properties of the porous functionally graded material beam are graded through the width and thickness using a power law distribution. Two porosities models approximating the even and uneven porosity distributions are considered. The governing equations of the wave propagation in the porous functionally graded beam are derived by employing the Hamilton's principle. Closed-form solutions for various parameters and porosity types are obtained, and the numerical results are compared with those available in the literature. The numerical results show the power law index, number of wave, geometrical parameters and porosity distribution models affect the dynamic of the FG beam significantly.

In current investigation, a novel beam finite element model is formulated to analyze the buckling and free vibration responses of functionally graded porous beams resting on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundations. The novelty lies in the formulation of a simplified finite element model with only three degrees of freedom per node, integrating both C0 and C1 continuity requirements according to Lagrange and Hermite interpolations, respectively, in isoparametric coordinate while emphasizing the impact of z-coordinate-dependent porosity on vibration and buckling responses. The proposed model has been validated and demonstrating high accuracy when compared to previously published solutions. A detailed parametric examination is performed, highlighting the influence of porosity distribution, foundation parameters, slenderness ratio, and boundary conditions. Unlike existing numerical techniques, the proposed element achieves a high rate of convergence with reduced computational complexity. Additionally, the model's adaptability to various mechanical problems and structural geometries is showcased through the numerical evaluation of elastic foundations, with results in strong agreement with the theoretical formulation. In light of the findings, porosity significantly affects the mechanical integrity of FGP beams on elastic foundations, with the advanced beam element offering a stable, efficient model for future research and this in-depth investigation enriches porous structure simulations in a field with limited current research, necessitating additional exploration and investigation.
