In order to resolve the decline in population due to low birthrates, the South Korean government is expanding its free child care policies with an increased budget. In anticipating the effects and problems of our system, it will be worthy of attention to refer to the child care systems of other countries. In this paper, we reviewed the past and present policies and the current situation of the child care system in North Korea. North Korea started its free child care system earlier than that of South Korea, for the purpose of utilizing the women's labor force and rearing children to be revolutionary men of Juche type (Kimilsungism), in order to construct a communistic society. 'Child Care Education Law', which is the legal foundation of the child care system, regulates institutions for nursery schools and kindergarten and informs people that the country is responsible for support of child care. Despite their interest and progress in both quantity and quality in the child care system until the 1980s, the free child care system was partially disrupted, and discrepancies between ideology and actual situation were revealed due to economic difficulties from the 1990s. Because people's survival and physical health have been threatened, it is barely possible to find any study investigating the effect of institutional child care from early childhood and the instillation of unique ideology by group education from the preschool period on mental health.
The blood samples collected from 863 school boys living in Seoul, Kwangju, Pusan and Cheju were tested for studies on the distributions and frequencies of ABO, MNSs, Rh, Diego, Duffy, Kell, Kidd and P blood groups. The $I^B$ gene frequencies appeared to be a cline, and this is decreased gradually from north to south except the Cheju population, but on the other hand those of $I^A$ gene increased oppositely. In Koreans A type of ABO group increased during past fifty years while B type decreased. $Ig^M$ gene frequencies also decreased from north to south district in Korea except Cheju. And the frequency of $Ig^M$ in Koreans was 0.518 which is between those of the north Chinese and the Japanese. In general Rh negative was 0.26 percent, and CCDee phenotype was of the highest frequency among all phenotypes, showing 42.41 percent, CcDEe, about 34% and ccdee, 0.087%. The frequencies of most Rh phenotypes in Koreans were close to those of the Japanese rather than to those of the Chinese and the Thais. Di(a+) type was 6.633 percent, and Fy(a+) and Fy(b+) type were 99.267 percent and 13.832 percent respectively. K+ type was observed only one case in Seoul. The frequencies of Jk(a+) and P+ type were the most varied depending on the populations studied.
Nutria(Myocastor coypus) is one of the most notorious invasive species in many countries. The Nutria's original range was South America like Brazil, Chile and Argentina. But it has been introduced to North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia including Korea, by fur ranchers. Like most invasive and disturbing species, nutria not only destroys habitats but also impacts many native species throughout most of its range with destructive feeding behavior. The purpose of this study is to investigate the dynamics of survival mechanism, population increase and spatial distribution, and eradication effect of Nutria on Nakdong River Area with the systems thinking. The result of this study revealed that Nutria can survive during winter with the behavior that the colder the winter was, the more deeply it burrowed. Further, the study uncovered the dynamics that nutria has survived more and more strongly during the extreme cold winter in almost every region and their population has increased dramatically as a result of the uncontrolled reproduction. Finally, the result showed that the action delay in eradicating Nutria, which was originated from the information delay of perception of nutria's survival and reproduction structure, reinforced the spread of Nutria across the nation.
Distribution of the naturalized plants in Korea was studied, based on the references reported by many authors from 1895 to 1980 and on the data obtained by survey of the present authors on 200 localities, 170 overpopulated areas and 30 islands in various size, in South Korea. We could describe 110 species in 27 families, including the pre-1945 records in North Korea. In this paper 14 naturalized species were newly described. Naturalized plants were characterized by dominated annual and hemigeophytes, 75.5% and 17.3%, respectively, in Raunkiaer's life form spectrum. The authors proposed two indices, i.e., Relative Naturalized Degree (RND) and Urbanization Index (UI). Increasing UI values or numbers of the naturalized plants in various localities were showed the correlation to the urbanized degree or population size in their localities.
The question of what our cultural goods might have known in a major exporting market, has intrigued investigators since 2000 year. Actually, Maybe Korean cultural assets just didn't have time to get to know International or Asia market. But now, a new euphoria can be tasted, on the lips of the small but growing Korean Contents Mania, as New Korean Wave-Crust begin to welcome the priciest contents from korea. Given Asian's surging population for our entertainment contents-drama, movie, music, character, etc., and the sense of a positive response its newly international market, it is hardly surprising. Now, Korea Wave must play an important roles in our country- economy, business, specially. This paper is seeking in OSMU on Korean Contents in East-North Asian Market, and is developing about Korean Wave study model. and It also points to a different strategy for exporting cultural contents, suggesting it should be effected for model to OSMU.

As urban regeneration and revitalization projects become increasingly popular in Korea, interests in residential environment, landscape improvement and community activities have risen, resulting in increased interest in community garden, a type of urban agriculture. However, the concept of community garden in Korea is yet to be defined apart from the general concept of urban agriculture. Also, any discussion regarding a practical scheme for community gardens remains nascent. Therefore, in order to define and to understand community gardens, and to draw meaningful implications for the community garden research in Korea, this study conducted a preliminary field survey of four North American cities from where the idea of community gardening originates. A total of 166 community gardens in Seattle, New York, Philadelphia and Vancouver were visited during this survey. Four community gardens from each city were selected for further analysis, with particular emphasis on spatial organization and social functions. The results showed that the community gardens in each city perform a diverse array of functions depending on location, type and societal needs. Community gardens in Seattle and Vancouver, which may be classified as 'uptown,' focused on their roles as fields of 'community participation.' Those in New York and Philadelphia, which are classified as 'downtown,' emphasized their function in 'urban beautification.' This study demonstrates that the community gardens in North America serve their roles as urban amenities and multi-functional public spaces for the entire local population. The implication of the results is that considerations for the social roles the community gardens serve and the spatial elements that allow the space to perform such functions are necessary for the further developments in the community garden research in Korea.
For the genetic assessment of the cattle breeds including Hanwoo, eleven microsatellite markers on ten bovine autosomes were genetically characterized for 618 individuals of nineteen cattle breeds; North Eastern Asian breeds (Korean cattle, Korean Black cattle, Japanese Black cattle, Japanese Brown cattle, Yanbian cattle), Chinese yellow cattle (Luxi cattle, Nanyang cattle), European Bas taurus (Angus, Hereford, Charolais, Holstein, Limousin), African Bas taurus (N'Dama, Baoule), African Bas indicus (Kavirondo Zebu, White Fulani), Asian Bas indicus (Sahiwal, Nelore) and one Bali cattle, Bas banteng as an outbreed-reference population. Allele frequencies derived from the genotyping data were used in estimating heterozygosities, gene diversities and genetic distances. The microsatellite loci were highly polymorphic, with a total of 162 different alleles observed across all loci. Variability in allele numbers and frequencies was observed among the breeds. The average expected heterozygosity of North Eastern Asian breeds was higher than those of European and African taurines, but lower than those of Asian and African indicines. Genetic distances were estimated using Nei's DA genetic distance and the resultant DA matrix was used in the construction of the phylogenetic trees. The genetic distances between North Eastern Asian cattle breeds and Bas indicus were similar with those between European Bas taurus and Bas indicus, and African Bas taurus and Bas indicus, respectively. The clusters were clearly classified into North Eastern Asian, European and African taurines groups as well as different cluster with Chinese mainland breeds, firstly out-grouping with Bas indicus. These results suggest that Korean cattle, Hanwoo, had not been originated from a crossbred between Bas primigenius in Europe and Bas indicus in India and North Eastern Asian Bas taurus may be have separate domestication from European and African Bas taurus.
Home meal replacements (HMR) are kinds of convenient foods as cooked or semi-cooked foods, which are produced outside of home, to eat directly or after simple cooking in substitution for traditional home meals. Recently the market size for HMR is expanding rapidly around the world due to the changes of global consumer trends, growth of single-person household, increase in economic participation of women, aging population, and so on. The Europe takes over 52.4% of the global market share for HMR in global HMR market, and North America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa-Middle East are following. The most popular HMR products in US and Europe are frozen foods, whereas the market share of chilled products in Asia including Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam are much higher than that in US and Europe. Currently, the trends in HMR is focus on the expansion of the list of products that replace for meals with simple cooking, but it is expected that nutrition-enforced HMR product for aged persons or patients who live alone are requested for the further growth of the HMR market.

This study analyzes on localization plans to successfully enter ASEAN market more rapidly growing than over-saturated the Asian or North American mobile game markets based on the Vietnamese market. Vietnamese smartphone market is the fastest growing in ASEAN based on its young aged population of average 28.2 year-old and low 3G service charges. Considering one of the most common activities through smartphones is the mobile game, the smartphone demand increase can be forecasted to be based on the growth of Vietnamese game market. Global strategies for exporting products to the global market can be classified into 'standardization' and 'localization'. From among these, Korean game companies are making profits by localization plan. But the Vietnamese mobile game market still has entry barriers. Therefore, this study is to contribute to Korean mobile game companies' localization plans for the Vietnamese market by finding and supplementing limits of the Vietnamese mobile game market based on literatures and statistics materials.
We tested the hypothesis that an improved nutritional environment increases the size of stature sexual dimorphism (SSD) by comparing mean height changes in North and South Korean adults. For the first round of sampling, those North Korean refugees who had reached the age of 20 years before leaving North Korea were selected for the study. Then, two birth-year cohorts born between 1955 and 1959 and between 1980 and 1984 were finally selected for the analysis (383 males and 529 females). North Korean refugee mean height data were compared to the mean height of the comparable South Korean population derived from 2004 Korean size results (373 males and 429 females). The results of the analysis showed that there was no increase in mean height among the refugees, either in males or females, between the two birth-year cohorts. As a result, no change in SSD was observed between the two birth-year cohorts. In contrast, South Koreans showed a remarkable increase in height, with males having a greater increase during the corresponding 25 years. Consequently, South Korean SSD increased significantly with time. These results support the hypothesis that improved nutritional quality increases SSD.
