A New Stationary Phase Prepared from Ground Silica Monolith Particles by Reversible Addition-Fragmentation Chain Transfer Polymerization

  • Silica monolith powders were prepared by a new procedure where ground powders of proper size distribution were obtained without sieving. An initiator was attached to this ground monolith and polystyrene was bound by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization to give a new stationary phase. The separation efficiency of this phase was found better than that of the polystyrene bound phase based on conventional silica particles and that of the C18 bound silica monolith powders.

  • Polystyrene 입자를 template로 사용하여 hollow ITO 입자를 제조하였다. 제조된 hollow ITO 입자의 비중은 기존의 일반적인 ITO 입자의 비중에 비하여 거의 1/2 수준으로 감소하였다. 코팅제 제조를 위하여 hollow ITO와 고분자를 혼합할 때 감소된 비중 때문에 ITO의 층 분리가 지연되었다. 고분자 용액을 제조할 때 hollow ITO 입자가 깨지면서 많은 조각이 생성되고 이들 사이의 접촉 면적이 증가하여 코팅 용액의 전도도는 오히려 증가하였다.

  • 미세입자의 플라즈마 표면 개질을 감압상태하의 순환유동층 반응기에서 수행하였다. 플라즈마에 의해 처리된 폴리스타이렌 입자는 폴리에틸렌글리콜로 표면에 그래프팅하였다. 표면 개질 전 입자와 플라즈마 처리된 입자 그리고 그래프팅된 입자의 특성은 각각 DPPH 방법, FTIR, SEM 그리고 접촉각 측정으로 분석하였다. 플라즈마 처리된 폴리스타이렌 입자의 표면에 과산화물이 잘 형성되었다. 또한, 폴리에틸렌글리콜의 그래프팅 중합에 의해 플라즈마 처리된 입자 표면에 그래프팅이 잘 분산되었다. 따라서 감압상태의 순환 유동층 반응기에서 플라즈마 처리에 의한 PEG-g-PS 입자를 성공적으로 형성할 수 있었다.

  • Cross-linked polystyrene (PS) particles with carboxyl and/or poly(ethylene glycol) units on surface were formed by an emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization using styrene, methacrylic acid (MA), and poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate (PEG-diMMA) at pH 7, and followed by freeze-drying to give the corresponding powders. Monodisperse polymer particles could be obtained at a concentration of PEG-diMMA 1 mol% relative to styrene. Zeta potential of polymer surface was measured to be 91 mV at a polymer of PEG-diMMA 1 mol% and was dropped as the content of MA increased.

  • The objective of this study was to improve the defects of lightweight cement concrete by treating with redispersible polymer powders. The statistical relationships of water-cement ratios, contents of lightweight aggregates and polymer powers and be used for predicting the concrete strength. It was found that the varieties and techniques adopted in this experiment were capable of identifying the influence of various tested for air contents, flow test, water absorption, specific gravity, flexural and compressive strength. This study showed that fundamental properties were very affected by cement- lightweight aggregate ratio, polymer-cement ratio and water-cement ratio.

  • 스티렌, 폴리(에틸렌 글리콜) 메타크릴레이트 (PEG-MMA) 혹은 폴리(에틸렌 글리콜) 디메타크릴레이트 (PEG-diMMA)를 중성 매질에서 무유화제 (emulsifier-free) 유화 중합하여 표면에 에틸렌 글리콜기를 갖는 폴리스티렌 입자를 합성하였고, 이로부터 동결 건조되어진 분말을 제조하였다. 고분자 분말은 FT-TR 분광기로 구조를 확인하였고, 광산란 입도 분석기와 주사 전자 현미경 (SEM)을 이용하여 입자 크기와 분산도를 조사하였다. 스티렌에 대하여 공단량체 PEG-MMA는 2∼5 mol%, PEG-diMMA는 1 mol% 농도 부근에서 균일한 입자 크기를 얻을 수 있었다. 합성된 입자의 표면 전하를 유전 매질 내에서 ELS-8000 광산란법을 이용하여 제타 포텐셜을 측정하였다. 스티렌에 대하여 PEG-MMA 5 mol%에서 183 mV의 아주 높은 제타 포텐셜이 측정되었다.

Synthesis LiFePO4- poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) composite cathode material for rechargeable lithium battery by hydrothermal method

  • Poly (sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) is ionomer based on polystyrene that is electrical conductivity and isoviscosity. LiFePO4 has been a promising electrode material however its poor conductivity limits practical application. To enhance the electronic conductivity of LiFePO4, in this study we prepared LiFePO4- PSS composite by the hydrothermal method. LiFePO4 was heated at $170^{\circ}C$ for 12h and then different wt% PSS (0%, 2.91%, 4.75%, 7.36%, 10%) are added to LiFePO4 and milled at 300rpm for 10h. And then the obtained powders were subsequently heated at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1h under argon flow. The cathode electrode were made from mixtures of LiFePO4-PSS: SP-270- PVDF in a weighting ratio 75%: 25%:5%. The electrochemical properties of LiFePO4- PSS/Li batteries were analyzed by cyclic voltammetry and charge/discharge tests. LiFePO4-C/Li battery with 4.75 wt% PSS displays discharge capacity of 128 mAh g-1 at room temperature that is considerably higher than pure LiFePO4/Li battery ( 113.48 mAhg-1).

거대기공 구조-역오팔 또는 중공 구조를 갖는 KIT-1 메조포러스 실리케이트의 제조 (Synthesis of KIT-1 Mesoporous Silicates Showing Two Different Macrosporous Strucrtues; Inverse-opal or Hollow Structures)

  • We report a facile method for preparing KIT-1 mesoporous silicates with two different macroporous structures by dual templating. As a template for macropores, polystyrene (PS) beads are assembled into uniform three dimensional arrays by ice templating, i.e., by growing ice crystals during the freezing process of the particle suspension. Then, the polymeric templates are directly introduced into the precursor-gel solution with cationic surfactants for templating the mesopores, which is followed by hydrothermal crystallization and calcination. Later, by burning out the PS beads and the surfactants, KIT-1 mesoporous silicates with macropores are produced in a powder form. The macroporous structures of the silicates can be controlled by changing the amount of EDTANa4 salt under the same templating conditions using the PS beads and inverse-opal or hollow structures can be obtained. This strategy to prepare mesoporous powders with controllable macrostructures is potentially useful for various applications especially those dealing with bulky molecules such as, catalysis, separation, drug carriers and environmental adsorbents.

  • 본 연구는 진동규제기준 설정을 위한 기본적인 연구의 일부로서 진동을 억제시킬 수 있는 제진 콘크리트 재료의 개발에 관한 것이며 제진용 결합재로서 라테스(latex), 고무 분말(rubber powder), 플라스틱 레진(plastic resin) 그리고 스타이로폼등을 사용하였다.선정된 적정배합비에 따른 제진 재료을 이용한 진동제어 콘크리트 시험 패널을 제작하여 원지반 매설상태로 이상화시킨 모래 사조에서 낙하충격을 이용하여 충격진동을 발생시키고, 이 파형을 퓨리에 변환시켜 주파수 영역별 각 패널의 제진 효과를 비교해보는 실내 실험을 실시하였다. 또한 모형박스로 제작한 사조에 모래 타설을 위하여 제작된 강사기의 성능평가와 토조에 타설된 모래지반의 균질정도를 판단하기 위하여 표면파해석기법을 응용한 횡방향 변이성을 실험분산곡선과 전단파 속도 주상도를 이용하여 평가하였다.

흑연과 탄소나노튜브 함유 아크릴 복합체 박막의 방열 특성 (Thermal Dissipation Property of Acrylic Composite Films Containing Graphite and Carbon Nanotube)

  • Thermal dissipation was investigated for poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) composite films containing graphite and multi wall carbon nanotube(CNT) powders as filler materials. After mixing PMMA with fillers, solvent, and dispersant, the pastes were prepared by passing through a three roll mill for three times. The prepared pastes were coated $15{\sim}40{\mu}m$ thick on a side of 0.4 mm thick aluminium alloy plate and dried for 30 min at $150^{\circ}C$ in an oven. The content of fillers in dried films was varied as 1, 2, and 5 weight % maintaining the ratio of graphite and CNT as 1:1. Raman spectra from three different samples exhibited D, G and 2D peaks, as commonly observed in graphite and multi wall CNT. Among those peaks, D peak was prominent, which manifested the presence of defects in carbon materials. Thermal emissivity values of three samples were measured as 0.916, 0.934, and 0.930 with increasing filler content, which were the highest ever reported for the similar composite films. The thermal conductivities of three films were measured as 0.461, 0.523, and $0.852W/m{\cdot}K$, respectively. After placing bare Al plate and film coated samples over an opening of a polystyrene box maintained for 1 h at $92^{\circ}C$, the temperatures inside and outside of the box were measured. Outside temperatures were lower by $5.4^{\circ}C$ in the case of film coated plates than the bare one, and inside temperatures of the former were lower by $3.6^{\circ}C$ than the latter. It can be interpreted that the PMMA composite film coated Al plates dissipate heat quicker than the bare Al plate.
