Study on the Cationic Dyeing Properties of Polyamide-imide Fiber using 2-Hydroxyacetophenone as a Swelling Agent (아세토페논 팽윤제를 이용한 폴리아미드-이미드 섬유의 캐치온 염색특성 연구)

  • This study optimizes dyeing conditions for polyamide-imide fabric using cationic dyes. Dyeing and fastness characteristics of polyamide-imide fabric were investigated with three cationic dyes and 2-hydroxyacetophenone as a swelling agent under various dyeing conditions such as dye and swelling agent concentrations, dyeing temperature and time, pH of dye bath. The dyeing properties were evaluated in terms of dye exhaustion, K/S value and color fastness. The optimized dyeing temperature and time were $130^{\circ}C$ for 90 min for the dyes. Under weak acidic conditions in the range pH 5 to 7, the exhaustion of cationic dyes could be enhanced leading to higher adsorption. Wash and rubbing fastness properties were generally good, while light fastness was slightly low, which can be attributed to the poor photo-stability of the cationic dyes.

  • Friction and wear characteristics of short fiber reinforced and particulate filled composites were investigated experimentally. Two kinds of fiber composites, chopped graphite fiber reinforced PAI(polyamide-imide) and glass fiber reinforced PAI, and a particulate composite, TiO$_{2}$ powder filled PAI, were selected for the friction and wear test since these are important engineering materials based on a new high temperature engineering plastic. All the specimens were cut into proper size for cylinder-on-plate type wear test. Frictional forces were measured by employing a load transducer and wear rates were calculated by measuring weight loss during wear test. The experimental results are reported in this paper and carefully discussed to explain the friction and wear behavior qualitatively. The frictional behavior is interpreted by considering four basic friction components which are believed to the genesis of friction and the wear behavior is explained by applying delamination theory of wear.

  • In this study, the ultra-fine fibers (UFs) having an alignment were prepared by electrospinning process, using different collectors made from various materials and collecting methods. A spinning solution was prepared by dissolving poly(amide-co-imide) (PAI) in NMP. The UFs were prepared by using various collectors and collecting methods, and the fibrous shapes were observed by SEM. As a result, a sort of materials of collectors and the collecting methods had not influenced on the average diameters of fibers but the forms of them. The just accumulated UFs on the collectors formed net structures, which had no alignment. On the contrary, the continuously collected UFs formed long fibers with alignment. It was found that the water collector played the roles of the fiber haul, temporary collector, moving path of fibers, and caused some friction between fibers and water, attributed to the formation of continuous UFs at a suitable collecting speed.
