Currently, it was investigated perform in a lot of workplace. Preventive treatment tasks include scaling, teeth polishing, applying fluoride and assist of dental treatment include preparation for medical care, preparation for implant surgery, preparation for oral surgery, implant surgery assistant and patient care training, and preparation for periodontal surgery. Conclusion : As a result, the dental hygienist performing a lot of dental assist tasks, oral health education counseling and preventive duties. Nonetheless, clinical dental hygienists are outlaws due to the disparity between practical and legal duties. Therefore, it is urgent to legislate actual duties of dental hygienist so that experts can fully exercise the competency of the public in promoting dental health. Relevant governments and related organizations should take reasonable measures to solve this problem.
Objectives: Yttria-stabilized tetragonal phase zirconia has been used as a dental restorative material for over a decade. While it is still the strongest and toughest ceramic, its translucency remains as a significant drawback. To overcome this, stabilizing the translucency zirconia to a significant cubic crystalline phase by increasing the yttria content to more than 8 mol% (8YTZP). However, the biocompatibility of a high amount of yttria is still an important topic that needs to be investigated. Materials and Methods: Commercially available 8YTZP plates were used. To enhance cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation, the surface of the 8YTZP is sequentially polished with a SiC-coated abrasive paper and surface coating with type I collagen. Fibroblast-like cells L929 used for cell adherence and cell proliferation analysis, and mouse bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC) used for cell differentiation analysis. Results: The results revealed that all samples, regardless of the surface treatment, are hydrophilic and showed a strong affinity for water. Even the cell culture results indicate that simple surface polishing and coating can affect cellular behavior by enhancing cell adhesion and proliferation. Both L929 cells and BMSC were nicely adhered to and proliferated in all conditions. Conclusions: The results demonstrate the biocompatibility of the cubic phase zirconia with 8 mol% yttria and suggest that yttria with a higher zirconia content are not toxic to the cells, support a strong adhesion of cells on their surfaces, and promote cell proliferation and differentiation. All these confirm its potential use in tissue engineering.
Background: This study focuses on the fabrication and characterization of quasi-hemispherical Cd0.9Zn0.1Te (CZT) detector for gamma-ray spectroscopy applications, aiming to contribute to advancements in radiation measurement and research. Materials and Methods: A CZT ingot was grown using the vertical Bridgman technique, followed by proper fabrication processes including wafering, polishing, chemical etching, electrode deposition, and passivation. Response properties were evaluated under various external bias voltages using gamma-ray sources such as Co-57, Ba-133, and Cs-137. Results and Discussion: The fabricated quasi-hemispherical CZT detector demonstrated sufficient response properties across a wide range of gamma-ray energies, with sufficient energy resolution and peak distinguishability. Higher external bias voltages led to improved performance in terms of energy resolution and peak shape. However, further improvements in defect properties are necessary to enhance detector performance under low bias conditions. Conclusion: This study underscores the efficacy of quasi-hemispherical CZT detector for gamma-ray spectroscopy, providing valuable insights for enhancing their capabilities in radiation research field.

Large aperture optical modulator called optical shutter is a key component to realize time-of-flight (TOF) based three dimensional (3D) imaging systems [1-2]. The transmission type electro-absorption modulator (EAM) is a prime candidate for 3D imaging systems due to its advantages such as small size, high modulation performance [3], and ease of forming two dimensional (2D) array over large area [4]. In order to use the EAM for 3D imaging systems, it is crucial to remove GaAs substrate over large area so as to obtain high uniformity modulation performance at 850 nm. In this study, we propose and experimentally demonstrate techniques for backside etching of GaAs substrate over a large area having high uniformity. Various methods such as lapping and polishing, dry etching for anisotropic etching, and wet etching ([20%] C6H8O7 : H2O2 = 5:1) for high selectivity backside etching [5] are employed. A high transmittance of 80% over the large aperture area ($5{\times}5mm^2$) can be obtained with good uniformity through optimized backside etching method. These results reveal that the proposed methods for backside etching can etch the substrate over a large area with high uniformity, and the EAM fabricated by using backside etching method is an excellent candidate as optical shutter for 3D imaging systems.
PURPOSE. Grinding with less stress on 3Y-TZP through proper selection of methods and instruments can lead to a long-term success of prosthesis. The purpose of this study was to compare the phase transformation and physical properties after zirconia surface grinding with 3 different grinding burs. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Forty disc-shaped zirconia specimens were fabricated. Each Ten specimens were ground with AllCeramic SuperMax (NTI, Kahla, Germany), Dura-Green DIA (Shofu Inc., Kyoto, Japan), and Dura-Green (Shofu Inc., Kyoto, Japan). Ten specimens were not ground and used as a control group. After the specimen grinding, XRD analysis, surface roughness test, FE-SEM imaging, and biaxial flexural strength test were performed. RESULTS. After surface grinding, small amount of monoclinic phase in all experimental groups was observed. The phase change was higher in specimens, which were ground with Dura-Green DIA and AllCeramic SuperMax burs. The roughness of surfaces increased in specimens, which were ground with Dura-Green DIA and AllCeramic SuperMax burs than control groups and ground with Dura-Green. All experimental groups showed lower flexural strength than control group, but there was no statistically significant difference between control group and ground with Dura-Green DIA and AllCeramic SuperMax burs. The specimens, which were ground with Dura-Green showed the lowest strength. CONCLUSION. The use of dedicated zirconia-specific grinding burs such as Dura-Green DIA and AllCeramic SuperMax burs decreases the grinding time and did not significantly affect the flexural strength of zirconia, and therefore, they may be recommended. However, a fine polishing process should be accompanied to reduce the surface roughness after grinding.
Objectives: This study evaluated the effects of different surface conditioning methods on the bond strength of orthodontic brackets to glazed full-zirconia surfaces. Materials and Methods: Glazed zirconia (except for the control, Zirkonzahn Prettau) disc surfaces were pre-treated: PO (control), polishing; BR, bur roughening; PP, cleaning with a prophy cup and pumice; HF, hydrofluoric acid etching; AA, air abrasion with aluminum oxide; CJ, CoJet-Sand. The surfaces were examined using profilometry, scanning electron microscopy, and electron dispersive spectroscopy. A zirconia primer (Z-Prime Plus, Z) or a silane primer (Monobond-S, S) was then applied to the surfaces, yielding 7 groups (PO-Z, BR-Z, PP-S, HF-S, AA-S, AA-Z, and CJ-S). Metal bracket-bonded specimens were stored in water for 24 hr at $37^{\circ}C$, and thermocycled for 1,000 cycles. Their bond strengths were measured using the wire loop method (n = 10). Results: Except for BR, the surface pre-treatments failed to expose the zirconia substructure. A significant difference in bond strengths was found between AA-Z ($4.60{\pm}1.08MPa$) and all other groups ($13.38{\pm}2.57-15.78{\pm}2.39MPa$, p < 0.05). For AA-Z, most of the adhesive remained on the bracket. Conclusions: For bracket bonding to glazed zirconia, a simple application of silane to the cleaned surface is recommended. A zirconia primer should be used only when the zirconia substructure is definitely exposed.
The objective of this research was to investigate physicochemical properties of waxy sorghum flours by different milling methods (pin mill and ultra fine mill). Four different sorghum flours were used for the experiments ; PWS (pin milled whole sorghum flour), PS (pin milled sorghum flour without bran), UFWS (ultra fine milled whole sorghum flour), UFS (ultra fine milled sorghum flour without bran). The contents of crude ash and total dietary fiber were the highest in PWS. Amylose content of pin milled sorghum flour was higher than that of ultra fine milled flour. The mean particle size of pin milled flours was six times lager than ultra fine milled flours. The L values of UFS and UFWS were higher than those of PS and PWS, whereas a and b values were higher in PWS. The water binding capacity was highest in UFWS, and solubility was higher in PS and UFS. Swelling power of flours was highest in UFS. The damaged starch content was higher in PS and UFS, which means damaged starch of sorghum flours significantly affected by polishing than milling method. The pasting properties were higher in the pin milled flours. Initial pasting temperature of pin milled flour was ranging from 70.5 to $73.1^{\circ}C$, which are higher than ultra fine milled flour ($68.6^{\circ}C$). The contents of total polyphenol were higher in PWS and UFWS than those of PS and UFS, there was no difference between the two milling methods. The results of this study indicate that physicochemical properties of sorghum flour were affected by milling methods as well as bran.
PURPOSE. In literature, many studies compare survival rates of different types of FPDs. Most of them compared restorations, which originated from one university, but from different clinicians. Data about restoration survival rates by only one experienced dentist are very rare. The aim of this study was to evaluate the survival rate of all-ceramic FPDs without the blurring effects of different clinicians. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 153 veneered-zirconia FPDs were observed for follow-up. 22 patients received 131 single crowns and 22 bridges. Because of the different bridge lengths, one unit was defined as a restored or replaced tooth. In total, 201 units were included. Only the restorations performed by the same clinician and produced in the same dental laboratory from 2011 to 2016 were included. Considered factors were defined as "type of unit", "type of abutment", "intraoral region", and "vitality". Modified UHPHS criteria were used for evaluation. Statistical analysis was performed using cox-regression. RESULTS. 189 units (94.0%) showed no kind of failure. 5 chippings (2.4%) could be corrected by intraoral polishing. 4 units (1.9%) exhibited spontaneous decementation. These polishable and recementable restorations are still in clinical use. Chippings or decementations, which lead to total failure, did not occur. One unit was completely fractured (0.5 %). Biological failures (caries, periodontitis or periimplantitis) did not occur. The statistical analysis of the factors did not reveal any significant differences. CONCLUSION. Modern all-ceramic FPDs seem to be an appropriate therapy not only for single restorations but for complex occlusal rehabilitations.

Objectives: This study aimed to elucidate the physicochemical properties of silica powder and airborne particles as by-products generated from fabrication processes to reduce unknown risk factors in the semiconductor manufacturing work environment. Materials and Methods: Sampling was conducted at 200 mm and 300 mm semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities. Thirty-two powder and airborne by-product samples, diffusion(10), chemical vapor deposition(10), chemical mechanical polishing(5), clean(5), etch process(2), were collected from inner chamber parts from process and 1st scrubber equipment during maintenance and process operation. The chemical composition, size, shape, and crystal structure of silica by-product particles were determined by using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy techniques equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy, and x-ray diffractometry. Results: All powder and airborne particle samples were composed of oxygen(O) and silicon(Si), which means silica particle. The by-product particles were nearly spherical $SiO_2$ and the particle size ranged 25 nm to $50{\mu}m$, and most of the particles were usually agglomerated within a particle size range from approximately 25 nm to 500 nm. In addition, the crystal structure of the silica powder particles was found to be an amorphous silica. Conclusions: The silica by-product particles generated from the semiconductor manufacturing processes are amorphous $SiO_2$, which is considered a less toxic form. These results should provide useful information for alternative strategies to improve the work environment and workers' health.
