각 국가 권역별 이행 실험방법에 따른 고온가열 식품포장재의 시뮬란트별 총이행량 비교 (Comparison of the Overall Migration Values from Various Plastic Food Packaging Materials into Food Simulants Under High Temperature Testing Conditions as Described in the Regulations of Different Country areas)

  • 각 국가 권역별 이행실험방법에 따라 고온가열 식품 포장재와 용기의 simulants별 이행량을 측정하여 비교하였다. 고온가열 식품에 대한 총이행량을 비교해 본 결과 비지방성 simulant로 증류수와 10% ethanol수용액을 사용한 경우 일반적으로 121$^{\circ}C$의 2시간 조건에서의 CPA와 PA 6,6 필름을 제외하고는 2.5 mg/dm$^2$ 보다 낮았다. 지방성 simulant 에서 soybean oil로의 총이행량은 다른 simulan에 비해 높게 나타나는 경향을 보였다. 실험된 필름들 중 PVC wrap에서의 총이행량은 23.9~54.6 mg/dm$^2$로서 다른 필름들에 비해 높은 값을 나타내었다. 비지방성보다는 지방성 식품의 simulant에서 그리고 온도가 높은 조건하에서 이행량이 증가되는 경향을 보였다. 유사한 실험 온도와 시간 조건하에서는 PA계의 극성 필름은 극성 simulants에서, 그리고 PO계와 같은 비극성 필름은 비극성 simulants에서 이행량이 증가되는 경향을 보였다. 일부 필름에서 국가 권역별 이행실험 방법 및 조건의 상이함으로 인한 이행량의 차이가 확인되었다는 것은 주목할 만할 사실이다.

원유 유출 지역에서 자연암반과 양식 기질에 서식하는 참굴(Crassostrea gigas)의 초기 가입 특성 및 성장 비교 (Comparison of Recruitment and Growth Patterns of Pacific Oysters (Crassostrea gigas) between a Natural Rocky Shore and Farming Substrate Within an Oil Spill Contaminated Area of Korea)

  • Macrobenthic biodiversity in the rocky intertidal areas of the Tae-an region, Republic of Korea, has decreased since the Hebei Spirit oil spill in December 2007. We aimed to investigate ecological roles of Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) because recruitment and growth of oysters are critical to the recovery of damaged rocky shore ecosystem. We surveyed two sites monthly: natural rocky substrate and farming substrate, from July 2012 to January 2013 to identify and compare the changes in macrobenthic fauna. The abundance of young oysters was higher at the natural site. On the other hand, the mean height of oyster on the farming substrate was more than twice as great. The abundance of oyster at the natural site increased until October and then continuously decreased until end of study period. However, the abundance of oyster at the farming site constantly decreased from the beginning of study period. These different growth patterns might be attributable to spatial competition between oyster and a barnacle species (Balanus albicostatus) and environmental factors. At the natural site, physical stress factors including dramatic temperature changes and desiccation a few of the major factors limiting growth during aerial exposure. In addition, motile macrobenthos could be detrimental to oysters because they interrupt filter-feeding activities and hence hamper the growth of oysters. We show the higher recruitment of oysters at the natural site and healthy growth in the farming substrate are due to complicated differences in physical and biological stress factors.

접촉분해경유로부터 산화황화합물의 분리에 관한 추출용매의 영향 (Effect of Extraction Solvent on the Separation of Sulfur Components in Light Cycle Oil)

  • 접촉분해경유의 산화반응후 포함된 산화황화합물을 분리하기위해 다양한 용매를 사용하여 용매추출에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 용매로는 극성을 가진 물, N-메틸피놀리논, 에틸아세테이트, 디메틸포름아마이드, 이소프로필알코올, 아세토니트릴, 메탄올등을 사용하였다. 실험결과, 접촉분해경유와 용매와의 층분리는 적절한 양의 물을 첨가한 경우에 이루어졌으며, 물과 N-메틸피놀리논을 혼합한 혼합용매가 접촉분해경유로부터 산화황화합물의 선택적인 분리에 가장 적절하였다. 또한 접촉분해경유로부터 황화합물을 99.5% 이상으로 제거하기 위해선, 4단 정도의 평형추출이 필요하였다.

Discarded Egg Yolk as an Alternate Source of Poly(3-Hydroxybutyrate-co-3-Hydroxyhexanoate)

  • Many poultry eggs are discarded worldwide because of infection (i.e., avian flu) or presence of high levels of pesticides. The possibility of adopting egg yolk as a source material to produce polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biopolymer was examined in this study. Cupriavidus necator Re2133/pCB81 was used for the production of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) or poly(3HHx), a polymer that would normally require long-chain fatty acids as carbon feedstocks for the incorporation of 3HHx monomers. The optimal medium contained 5% egg yolk oil and ammonium nitrate as a nitrogen source, with a carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratio of 20. Time course monitoring using the optimized medium was conducted for 5 days. Biomass production was 13.1 g/l, with 43.7% co-polymer content. Comparison with other studies using plant oils and the current study using egg yolk oil revealed similar polymer yields. Thus, discarded egg yolks could be a potential source of PHA.

DHA 함유 지질 추출소재로서 수산부산물의 검색 (Screening of by-products derived from marine food processing for extraction of DHA-contained lipid)

  • 수산부산물을 식품소재와 같이 효율적으로 이용하기 위한 일련의 기초 연구로서 DHA 함유 지질 추출소재로서 붕장어, 칼치의 내장 및 두부, 꽁치, 포클랜드산 및 뉴질랜드산 오징어의 내장 등과 같은 부산물에 대하여 검토하였다. 수산부산물의 건물당 지질함량은 $40.5{\sim}48.0%$이었고, 지질조성은 중성지질이 $92.1{\sim}99.0%$로 추출 소채에 관계없이 거의 대부분을 차지하였다. 중성지질은 트리글리세리드가 $50.0{\sim}69.9%$로 절반 이상을 차지하였고, 유리지방산이 $7.8{\sim}20.3%$, 스테롤류가 $3.5{\sim}13.9%$, 탄화수소가 $4.2{\sim}10.2%$ 및 디글리세리드가 $3.5{\sim}9.3%$를 차지하였으며, 모노글리세리드는 2% 내외 이었다. 수산부산물에서 추출한 총지질의 지방산조성 중 폴리엔산의 조성비는 포클랜드산 및 뉴질랜드산 오징어 내장유가 각각 41.0% 및 38.2%로 어류 부산물유의 $27.7{\sim}33.3%$에 비하여 높았다. DHA조성비는 뉴질랜드산 오징어 내장유가 21.1%로 가장 높았고, 다음으로 포클랜드산 오징어 내장유(16.3%), 갈치 부산물유(13.9%), 붕장어 부산물유(11.7%) 및 꽁치 부산물유(10.7%) 등의 순이었다. 총지질을 구성하는 주요 지방산은 지질 추출 소재인 부산물의 종류에 관계없이 16:0, 18:1n-9, 20:5n-3 및 22:6n-3 등이었다.

Electrical and rheological properties of chitosan malonate suspension

  • The electrical and rheological properties of a chitosan malonate suspension in silicone oil was investigated by varying the electric fields, volume fractions of particles, and shear rates, respectively. The chitosan malonate susepnsion showed a typical electrorheological (ER) response caused by the polarizability of an amide polar group and shear yield stress due to the formation of multiple chains upon application of an electric field. The shear stress for the suspension exhibited a linear dependence on the volume fraction and an electric field power of 1.88. On the basis of the results, the newly synthesized chitosan malonate suspension was found to be an anhydrous ER fluid.

  • Dielectric properties of low viscous silicone oils have been investigated as a function of frequency and The increase of polymerization degree was attributed to presence of Si-O-Si bonds and their increased dissociation factor. The application of the Clausius-Mosotti equation on the low viscous silicone oils, it has been previously assumed that the oils were dilute solutions of polar molecules. In the silicone oil the Si-o and O-Si bonds give dipole polarization. Simple relations have been found which dipole moment and activation energy as a function of number of Si atoms in the low viscous silicone oils.

Electrorheology of Amine Dispersant Coated Chitosan Phosphate Suspension

  • The electrorheological (ER) behavior of amino coated chitosan phosphate suspension in silicone oil is investigated. Amino coated chitosan phosphate suspension shows a typical ER response (Bingham flow behavior) upon application of an electric field due to the polarizability of phosphoryl polar group. The shear stress for the suspension exhibits a linear dependence on an electric field power of 1.94. The values of structure factors $A_s$obtains 2 far mine coated chitosan phosphate suspension and it may be due to the formation of multiple chains upon application of the electric field. Throughtout the experimental results, amino coated chitosan phosphate suspension shows good dispersion stability and found to be an anhydrous ER fluid.

Development of Novel Polymeric Sunscreen Agent

  • A novel polymeric sunscreen agent was developed. It was prepared by the coupling reaction of 2-ethylhexyl 4-hydroxycinnamate with poly vinylbenzyl chloride(PVBC, average MW 6,500). In this reaction the reactivity was mostly affected by catalyst. In the absence of catalyst the yield was approximately 55% and in the presence of tetrabutylammonium bromide the yield was about 65%, but in the presence of tetrabutylammonium iodide the yield was 100% to give a average molecular weight 20,000 polymeric sunscreen agent. There were no side reactions, and its structure and purity were confirmed by various analytical methods, such as NMR, IR, and so on. UV radiation absorption efficiency is more than 70% compared with that of octyl methoxycinnamate. The solubility in polar oil, for example C12-15 alkylbenzoate and caprylic/capric triglyceride, is more than 50%. It showed high stability in the time course of test including acceleration test. This polymer is safe to skin because of poor permeability to skin, no side products in the process of preparing, and easy elimination of excess starting materials.

자동기록식 수중청음기를 이용한 저주파 해양잡음의 측정 (Measurement of Low-Frequency Ocean Noise by a Self-Recording Hydrophone)

  • Ocean noise may be used for monitoring wind speed and rainfall rate on the sea surface, as well as for tracking whales' migration routes. In particular, low-frequency ocean noise has recently been of concern with relation to the behavior of marine mammals. Low-frequency ocean noise has been increasing over the past few decades due to increase of ship traffic and offshore oil industry activities. Mechanical noise such as flow noise and cable strumming noise may be induced if low-frequency ocean noise is measured by cabled traditional hydrophone in high current areas. To successfully measure low-frequency ocean noise in a shallow water environment with strong current, we developed a self-recording hydrophone. This paper describes the main configurations of the self-recording hydrophone and presents some results on measured data.
